rockland home staging: Curb appeal transformation - is it worth the money? - 06/26/09 07:17 PM
You be the judge:
Exterior Front Before:                                                                        Exterior Front After

Here is a close up of the garden:
The after photo does not even do the landscaping justice. There is a lovely Japanese Red Maple and a Weeping Cherry tree along with various red and green shrubs.
Home staging really begins at the curb. This is a lovely home but before you could not even appreciate how pretty it is because of the overgrown trees in front. With a minimal investment this home has turned into a swan. The total cost for ripping out … (13 comments)

rockland home staging: FREE Home Staging Consultation - 04/18/08 11:13 AM
Free Home Staging Consultation Sounds too good to be true right??? Well it isn't. Rockland Home Staging has partnered with local real estate agents that are willing to pay the fee for a two hour home staging consultation.
What is the catch?
No catch - the consultation is absolutely free. There are several agents in Rockland County NY that are willing to pay the fee for a home staging consultation as part of their listing process. When you list with one of Rockland Home Staging's partner agents you are entitled to a free two hour consultation with a professional home … (20 comments)

rockland home staging: Under $300 vacant bedroom transformation - 01/06/08 09:07 AM
This room was "Furnished" for under $300.  It is important to furnish vacant rooms to give buyers a sense of scale.  Before putting the bed in this room it did not appear large enough to be a bedroom.  I think it is an optical illusion that empty rooms appear smaller than when they are furnished. The goal of home staging is to put in just enough elements to give potential buyers an idea of how things will look and were look best.

Blow up mattresses -    $65     Bed Set -    $90    Pillows    $30    End tables -    $35    Lamps -   $40    … (52 comments)

rockland home staging: Before, After and After that - Evening Shots - 12/27/07 08:43 AM
Rockland Home Staging recently staged a property in Rockland County NY that needed quite a bit of renovation.  During the course of the staging we ripped up the carpet, refinished the hardwood floors, painted the entire house, replaced all the light fixtures, restructured the furniture arrangement and generally cut the clutter. It was a huge project with a fairly large budget, about $5000.  Almost all of the funds went to rehab.  When it came time for staging we were on a very tight budget - I tried to use the things the homeowner already had and went for a clean minimalist … (62 comments)

rockland home staging: The power of a coat of paint - 11/21/07 09:18 AM
Sometimes all a room needs is a coat of paint. I love using red when home staging as an accent color. It makes the room come alive. Red used in small amounts can dramatically change the mood of a room. Painting an entire room red on the other hand does not have universal appeal.
Relax and unwind. When staging a master bedrooms I always envisions spaces that are calm and peaceful. I think this is what the majority of people want in a master. They want to get away from the chaos of the house and retreat to their private sanctuary. … (50 comments)

rockland home staging: Not so pretty in pink - An under $25 transformation - 10/28/07 05:12 PM
I think the following pictures illustrate the difference between Home Staging and Decorating.

This bathroom update was done using only the items the homeowner had on hand. Home staging does not have to be expensive.  The only money the homeowner spent was for a can of paint.  We stripped the border, painted the room an off white and rearranged the existing accessories.   The floral arrangement was in one of the home's bedrooms.  So what do you think of this under $25 makeover?

rockland home staging: Spa-like Bathroom Part Deux - Wanna take a Bath??? - 09/30/07 06:48 PM
A while back I wrote a post entitled: Spa like bathrooms - they're hot!Today I'd like to announce the long awaited sequel:
Spalike Bathroom Part Deux  I love staging bathrooms.  They are one of the rooms where it is easiest to set the mood.  Once I was staging a home where the homeowner was a single man and so was the Realtor.  We were all standing in the master bath.  The Realtor turns to the homeowner and says, You ever use that tub? The homeowner replied, No - they are such a waste.  The Boys went downstairs to discuss all matters real … (25 comments)

rockland home staging: An agent stole 8 months of my life - 07/24/07 12:14 PM

The following is a true real estate story. You may find parts of it shocking and hard to believe but I assure you all facts have been triple checked by the proper authorities and every part of the story has been authenticated. Some of the names have been changed to protect the innocent or incompetent as the case may be.
Meet Bob (that is not his real name) he is the owner of a small home, on a busy street in a less than prestigious neighborhood in Anytown USA. Bob has decided to make a change and sell his home and … (42 comments)

rockland home staging: Meat and potatoes home staging. - 06/26/07 08:38 PM
I think some times homeowners and realtors do not want to use home stagers because their homes / listings will never look like the ones in the glossy home staging brochures.
Not every home is a $1.7 town home with and elevator and spa like bathroom. In fact most of my business comes from your average home in the burbs that requires some tweaking. A lot of the time we are working with an extremely limited budget and the goal is not perfection - it is cozy, or quaint, or realistically just a lot better than it was before.  Given an … (36 comments)

rockland home staging: Can a room be too neutral? - 06/08/07 10:02 PM
Rockland Home Staging recently staged a colonial in Rockland County NY where the kitchen was just not working. It was very neutral but it looked washed out.  The cabinets are that bleached wood that is almost pink and the walls were painted a pail peach.  It really wasn't such a bad color but it did nothing for the room.
I decided to break one of the most sacred home staging rules and paint the kitchen RED.
We chose a really warm rusty red.  We only painted two of the walls, near the cabinets red.  We painted the others a really nice putty color … (67 comments)

rockland home staging: Browse a website without even leaving AR (Too cool) - 06/04/07 08:13 AM
I'd like to think my bud, Cheryl Johnson for writing up the directions to INLINE FRAMING. There are many times when we link other websites to our blogs. The problem is that people may click on that link and get lost for half that day. So rather than sending out a search party you can try the inline framing feature. You'll have to refer back to Cheryl's blog for directions.
So for your viewing pleasure I've framed my website below. As Marci Toliver would say, "Please feel free to peruse our website." The coolest part is that all the links actually … (23 comments)

rockland home staging: Home Staging Statistics - 05/09/07 06:20 PM
I have been looking for some time for a credible home staging statistic to put on my website, Rockland Home Staging.com. Recently I found a statistic with a credible source.  I was reading about STAGING FEATURED IN "PARADE" SECTION OF MOST MAJOR PAPERS! The article listed that staged homes sell for 6% more. The direct quote is: A Coldwell Banker Real Estate Corp. survey found that staged homes spent half the time on the market and sold for more than 6% above the asking price. At first I thought this was going to be like most of the other home stating … (43 comments)
