I am trying to help a developer sell some lots in Olathe, KS (near college & woodland).  The first plat consists of 17 lots, and about half of those lots have homes.  The lots are larger than usual, ranging in size from 13,000 s.f. to 17,000 s.f.  So far, the subdivision has a variety of floor plans and exterior elevations which gives it a "custom home" feel.  The homes have sold for $350,000 and up.  We have been talking to a builder who is contemplating building a spec. home on one of the larger walk out lots.  It is going to be … (2 comments)

home buyers: Construction Loans Still Available!!! - 09/16/11 01:02 PM
I was told by a representative of a major bank that construction loans were dead.  However, after a little more digging, I found a few local banks that will still make loans to buyers wishing to build their own home.  This is great news because, I have a few picky buyers with special wants.  I'm glad to know that building is still an option for them.  New Construction has suffered a lot in last few years, but I have hope that it will come back.  For more info, go to http://hunthomeskc.com
