The only difference now is the number of foreclosures that seem to be crowding many areas. Odenton, MD does have its share of foreclosures, but nothing very significant considering the area covered by Odenton.
Less than 10% of all homes sold this year in Odenton, MD have been foreclosures. Contrast that to Bowie, MD, just a few short miles away, where aver 33% of all homes sold this year were in the foreclosure category.

Mum’s the word at the Homestead Gardens Fall Festival being held this weekend. This could be your last chance to pick up some Mum’s at a great price, before Homestead changes over to their Christmas display.
3 for $15 if you have a Garden Club membership is a very good price for Mum’s from one of the area’s premiere gardens.
During festivals like this you can stop at the Homestead Grill for burgers, hot dogs and pulled pork or beef sandwiches. Homemade apple cider and coffee can ward off the chill on an Autumn day.

The hourglass is ticking down on the 34th Maryland Renaissance Festival. This weekend is your last chance for this year to pretend you’re living in a 15th Century English Village. The village this year is Revel Grove, and the year is 1543. The village is preparing for a visit from King Henry VIII.

Maryland Early Voting Begins Tomorrow - 10/21/10 08:29 PM

While it’s not something I’m contemplating for myself, Maryland voters get the opportunity to vote tomorrow, when early voting for the 2010 general election begins. If you’re a registered Maryland voter, you can choose early voting beginning tomorrow and continuing until October 28, 2010.

Crofton MD Halloween Parade - 10/21/10 10:07 AM
 

The Kiwanis and the Community of Crofton, MD are coming together again this year for the Annual Halloween Parade. The parade has been an ongoing Kiwanis project for over thirty years and a welcome event in Crofton.
This year the Parade is scheduled for 10:00 AM, October 30th. Floats and adults will gather at the Crofton Woods Elementary School. Starting from the school, the Parade will be traveling the mile or so to the Presbyterian Church on Crofton Parkway to pick up the costumed children.

Charles Buell challenged us to prove that we can blog about anything by looking under our sink. Pick an item and find a way to relate it to what we do.
So, when I looked under the kitchen sink the first thing that came to mind was, “boy, we have a lot of junk under here.” How about a post on de-cluttering? Nah. When I saw the SOS Pads, another thought came to mind. I was thinking about one of my previous dogs, Samantha.

Should you rely on the Seller's Disclosure when purchasing your Crofton, MD home? - 10/10/10 04:18 PM

Yes, of course rely on it, BUT only as part of an overall plan. As you know, sellers are required to provide a Disclosure, or a Disclaimer, as part of the Contract of Sale for residential property in Maryland. Many sellers do disclose, which basically means they fill out a series of yes and no questions about the operation of systems in the house. The forms are standard and mandated by the State. There are exceptions from filling out the forms for estates and banks who never lived in the property.

It’s a beautiful weekend to tour Open Houses here in Crofton, MD. Saturday, October 9th there are two Open Houses being held in Crofton. Both are single family homes with 4 bedrooms with one listed at $379,000 and the other at $545,000.
Sunday, October 10th, four Open Houses will be hosted. A nice selection, including two single family homes, a townhouse and a condo can be seen on Sunday.

Crofton MD Real Estate - Changes for Week Ending 10/2/2010 - 10/04/10 08:45 PM

The Crofton, MD real estate market was pretty busy last week all around. You always have to remember the maxim, “all real estate is local,” when you read the newspaper, and listen to real estate stories on TV.
On the rental side, three new rental listings were added, making a total of 17 rentals now available in Crofton, MD. All three that came on the market were townhouse condo style units, ranging in price from $1,325 to $1,700. Three applications were registered on existing rentals, and six units were rented. The rental market in Crofton is still pretty robust.
