customer service: Shawshank Redemption and Short Sales - Kitsap County WA Real Estate - 12/23/11 03:46 PM

One of my favorite movies is 'Shawshank Redemption' - the story of Andy Dufresne, a young banking executive who spends nearly two decades doing hard-time in Shawshank State Prison for the murder of his wife and her lover despite his claims of innocence. Andy overcomes tremendous adversity, and through dogged determination and extreme patience, over a span of almost 20 years, is able to tunnel through solid walls, crawl through 500 feet of underground raw sewage pipe, and make good his escape.

Back in May, the US Justice Department announced that it had reached a proposed settlement with the National Association of Realtors (NAR), staving off a 2005 lawsuit filed against NAR by the Department's Anti-Trust Division. The suit claimed that NAR obstructed fair competition and discriminated against Internet-based residential real estate brokers. The Department said the settlement would enhance competition in the real estate brokerage industry, resulting in more choices, better service, and lower commission rates for consumers.
According to a statement by Deborah Garza, Deputy Assistant Attorney General of the Antitrust Division,

customer service: A "Convenient" Truth - 04/18/07 02:36 AM

It always amazes me how so many real estate agents will try all the latest and greatest marketing gimmicks to attract new clients, but completely ignore or neglect the easiest and most basic principles of our business.
Case in point: I am representing some Sellers on a really cool restored Turn-of-the-Century farmhouse on acreage. We went under contract with some Buyers just a week after going on market, but the deal fell through due to some very unfortunate appraisal issues.
Suddenly, a couple weeks ago, I got a phone call from out of the blue....
