I received a phone call from a woman currently residing out in the Chicago Illinois area. Her husband was active-duty military. Given the current real estate market dynamics in Kitsap County WA, and the prevalent number of short sale and foreclosure properties being listed (about 30% of all properties), it's rather challenging for traditional Sellers who aren't upside down on their mortgage or facing imminent foreclosure to effectively sell their homes.
As a result, many Buyers (and some agents/brokers) assume that every Seller is equally desperate and willing to make huge pricing concessions in order to attract a viable Buyer.
Such was the case recently with one of my listed properties.

This past Friday, I had the distinct pleasure of attending the opening of a new exhibit at the Naval Undersea Museum in Keyport WA.
The purpose for this new exhibit was to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the launching of the USS George Washington (SSBN598), the first nuclear ballistic missile submarine.
As a former crew member of the 'Georgefish,' attending the ceremony brought back a flood of fond memories - the comradery of my shipmates, the pride and dedication of the crew, the hard work and sacrifices made to successfully carry out our mission.

Today we closed on a home I had listed out in Lofall WA.
It was a nicely maintained Cedar-sided Ranch on acreage.
The owners had been trying to sell their home for nearly a year.
The first agent had the home listed for 6 months.
The second agent for 5 months.
I was fortunate to be Agent No. 3.
The owners were really great folks. But they were discouraged and frustrated.

Being a licensed real estate professional here on the beautiful Kitsap Peninsula in scenic Washington State, I have the honor and privilege of serving a sizeable military community, consisting primarily of active-duty US Navy service members and their families stationed at Naval Base Kitsap.
As such, a large percentage of the Buyers and Sellers I represent are involved with VA Financing. As a Navy veteran and former submarine sailor, I know firsthand the benefits of using a VA home loan.
