We have a recent listing where the home was very clean and neat, but appeared "full of stuff". This will happen to a home when there is a full family living there and rooms evolve to reflect the owner's particular lifestyle. There are so many links to websites suggesting methods for "de-cluttering a home". Make it minimal, create an easy flow, draw attention to a particular amenity....

I remember Whitney Houston as singing the very best rendition of the Star Spangled Banner ever. Any of the thousands of subsequent attempts, although some good, never quite compared. She even had a new album and was preparing for the Grammy Awards presentation.

No Snow in Portland, Maine - 02/10/12 08:07 AM

Usually we are hunkered down waiting for any sign of spring right about now. Yesterday, it was in the 40's and today may even be the same. Why I can remember the time..... One winter it actually snowed every Friday and we had fresh powder in the mountains every week-end.
We are getting to show property most days and even making trips to the lakes region on occassion to walk around waterfront property in hopes of having our clients beat the spring rush/price hikes.

Scam Alert for Sellers - 02/09/12 04:53 PM
I recently listed a single family home and about 3 days into the listing I received a surprising number of calls from individuals who wanted to know if the property is for rent. After informing each caller that it is not, they proceeded to tell me that they answered an ad suggesting it was for rent and at a really low price.
The fictitious owners were living out of state and told the prospective renter that they could move in right away if they sent $1,500. One woman actually called me after she had sent the $1,500 to the scammer.

Buyer Says cut your commission because we found a property fast - 02/09/12 11:36 AM
Have you ever had a buyer client ask you to participate in the sale by reducing your commission in an equal dollor amount to what the buyer and seller have agreed upon just to keep the deal together? Buyer and Seller were $24,000 apart and the seller wanted to have each agent reduce their commission by $6,000 if the seller and buyer do the same.
We, as buyer agents, said no to this and cited the percentage of reduction discrepancy. Buyer and seller were making a 1.5% concession while the Realtors were being asked to make a 50% (of the commission) concession.
