Amelia Island's Fort Clinch- A National Treasure - 10/25/08 05:02 PM
Need a worthwhile day trip? Fort Clinch, now part of the State of Florida Parks system, is one of the finest examples of U.S. Third System Fortifications built to defend the U.S. Coast. It guards the Atlantic mouth of the St Mary's and Amelia Rivers. This third generation of U.S. coastal fortifications were built during the period of 1812-1868, using a dual wall system of brick and earth. Fort Clinch, named for the respected Seminole War General Duncan Clinch, was started in 1847 and was only partially complete when the Civil War began. It had no garrison or cannon. HELP PLEASE- NEW MEMBER NEEDS HELP- MY ACTIVE RAIN STATISTICS WENT DOWN - 10/22/08 05:09 AM
A few days ago I deleted one of my outdated blogs. I did only one blog to see the impact on points. Nothing happened. So I deleted about 15 old blogs that were about local events... that had past.. and they were no longer of use to anyone. This morning my point total that I have laboriously worked on went way down. What happened? Is this a result of the deletions? Is there a way to restore the points? Why would the ACTIVE RAIN site promote the retention of outdated info? Is there another way to archive info. Is there someplace to

BREAST CANCER- 4 PILLARS OF PREVENTION - 10/13/08 05:04 AM
Our Watson Realty Corp's Fernandina Beach Office supports as many community service activities as we can. This is breast cancer awareness month. Since I'm from Baltimore, I still follow the Johns Hopkins Hospital bulletins. One of October bulletins discussed these 4 fundamental measures to reduce the chance of breast cancer: Exercise 3 times a week. This doesn't mean joining a gym or becoming an exercise "nut". Power walking around your neighborhood every other day will do it - for 1 hour, 3 times a week. Stick to a low-fat diet. This doesn't mean giving up all the goodies, either. Just watch how much of them
