Abacoa is a planned community on the south side of Jupiter. In the central section of town is the Town Center where most community activities like a Christmas tree, the Green Market and Classic Car Shows are held. Near the Town Center is the Roger Dean Stadium, Abacoa Golf Club, FAU Honors Campus, Scripps Institute, Max Planck Society and G4S (formerly Wackenhut). Around the perimeter of Abacoa are retail shops and professional buildings. Within the town itself, you can find single family homes, condos, townhouses and live/work spaces at every price point. Rickie Fowler now makes Jupiter his home - 12/25/10 08:32 PM
Palm Beach Gardens is called the golf capital of the world because of the high number of country club golfers in the area.  But when the pros head home, they head to Jupiter, Jupiter Island and Tequesta.  The latest pro to join us here is Rickie Fowler.
Fowler just bought a place in Jupiter on the Loxahatchee River with direct ocean access.  When he puts his boat in the water and heads out the Jupiter Inlet, as he cruises past the Tequesta waterfront he will pass the homes of Steve Marino, Mark Calcavecchia, Camilo Villegas, Joe Namath and author/speaker John Maxwell.

Migrating manatees make it to Margaritaville - 12/25/10 08:08 PM
Manatees, the environmental darlings of singer/songwriter Jimmy Buffett, are massing along the South Florida coast.  And for good reason....it has been really cold in Florida and expected to get really cold again this week.
Why would I call them the environmental darlings?  Because they are seen as "cute and cuddly" and so they have received celebrity endorsement.  On the other hand, there are approximately the same number of black bears as manatees in Florida and yet they have not received the "cute and cuddly" designation so you can still hunt them.  Strange how laws are made.
Anyway, back to our friends the manatees.

Celebrities in and around Jupiter Island - 12/25/10 08:06 PM
Jupiter Island is a little piece of paradise.   Located on the eastern side of the Intracoastal Waterway across from Tequesta, this barrier island has been the closely guarded secret of some of America's old money families.
I was on Jupiter Island today shooting video since the day was a glorious, South Florida winter day and if you have never seen this place take minute to view my You Tube videos.  On a day like today, Jupiter Island is absolutely magical!   The temperature was in the low 70's, the air was crystalline clear, the ocean was the most gorgeous blue/green (really Miami … (0 comments)

Beach erosion, residents may take it personally - 12/25/10 08:02 PM
In the littoral zone, long shore current or drift is the natural process which moves sand and other sediment along the coast or offshore.  It creates a problem for construction along the shoreline since it erodes the beach.  Now sand moving along the shore is a normal part of the beach process, but if you have a condo on the beach, this could spell trouble.  So when your sand moves away, you bring more in.The easiest solution has been just to get taxpayers to pay for pumping or trucking more sand in.  It's really no different than getting taxpayers to fund … (1 comments)

Dozers on the beach...again - 12/20/10 06:24 PM
Beach erosion is usually caused by big waves or long shore current.  Long shore current or drift is the natural process by which sand and other sediments move along the coast.
The easiest solution in the past was to get taxpayers to pay for pumping or trucking more sand in. Sometimes sand is pumped from offshore and sometimes it is trucked in, truck after truck after truck after truck........Now, money is getting scarce, so some condo owners are considering replenishing the beach...and willing to pay for it themselves.  Ocean Trail in Jupiter is considering footing the $3 million bill to delay the erosion there.Jupiter … (0 comments)

Christmas at the Gardens Mall - 12/20/10 06:11 PM
The Gardens Mall is the premier mall in Northern Palm Beach county so when they put up the Christmas decorations they go over the top. Sunday was rainy and cold and the mall was packed with holiday shoppers. I shot this video of the whole thing. Enjoy it. Some communities near the Gardens Mall include Harbour Isles, Marina Gardens, Frenchman's Reserve, Frenchman's Harbor, Frenchman's Creek and PGA National. You can see all homes for sale in these communities on my website at www.CoastalFloridaRealEstate.net. Ice Trees - 12/20/10 05:54 PM
Take a look at this Florida ice then hop over to my blog at www.coastalflorida.blogspot.com and read the story on the Arctic blast in Jupiter Farms.
Via Carol Zingone, Broker Assoc.,CDPE/GRI/LMC/SFR (Prudential Network Realty):
As many of you are aware, we are experiencing freezing temps here in Northeast Florida, including the beaches, and this is not the norm for us.
We had a very cold winter last year, and I lost about half of my hibiscus hedge, which was 7 feet tall - and they are pretty cold hardy, but with 3 or 4 days last year with freezing temps at the beach, … (0 comments)

Billions for Madoff victims will come from Palm Beach resident - 12/17/10 07:41 PM
I frequently write on my blog at www.coastalfloridarealestate.wordpress.com about the wealth in this area.  You can see it on display all the time from cars to mega-yachts.

Recently, the estate of a resident in Admirals Cove in Jupiter gave $ 10 million to the Jupiter Medical Center in the largest single gift ever.  The donor had hundreds of millions or more.
And we have big celebrity money here like Tiger Woods and Michael Jordan.  But the big money, the really big money, is on the island of Palm Beach.  And on Palm Beach, the really big money lives on Ocean … (1 comments)

Frost again in Jupiter Farms - 12/16/10 01:52 PM
Jupiter Farms is a dedicated equestrian area west of the Town of Jupiter.  Homes in Jupiter Farms sit on sites of 1.25 acres or more.
People, like me, move to Jupiter Farms for peace and privacy and to escape Homeowner Associations.  Yet, Jupiter Farms is still only 15 from our famous beaches.
One thing though, its a few degrees hotter or colder here than right along the coast since we don't have the mitigating effect of the ocean.
This morning, we had another hard frost unlike our city mice friends in town.

To see all homes for sale in Jupiter Farms, … (2 comments)
