The 2011 Tri State Home Show opens today. It is the 45th Home Show, and the exhibitors worked hard Thursday to finish, the last day for set up. Most of the larger exhibits were already completed by Thursday morning.
It is going to be a great show.
Come by this weekend and get some ideas for those home improvements that you want and have been waiting on.
The vendors have worked hard planning the displays. When you see all the exhibits you will be able to tell the effort put every one. These exhibits really show off the craftsmanship that we have in Chattanooga.

The excitement is building for the 45th Annual Tri-State Home Show in Chattanooga this weekend February 25 - 27. The exhibitors started setting up Tuesday morning. And I love helping with the Home Show set up. It is so much fun to watch the convention center floor transform into the amazing displays that our Home Show is known for.

The Susan G Komen race for the Cure ofbreast cancer in Chattanooga is on September 28. This race supports breast cancer research. The race began in 1983 in Dallas as a promise kept by Nancy G Brinker to her sister Susan Komen who died from breast cancer.
 
 
 
 
 
  
The Chattanooga Memory Walk for  Alzheimer's is on September 20. The Alzheimer's Association has been working for a cure for almost 30 years.

Chattanooga and Hamilton County real estate sales have been consistent over the last 14 years, as shown by the graphs below. The sales information is taked from the Multiple Listing Service and covers all residential home sales in all Hamilton County areas.
The market peaks from 2004 to 2007 are noticeable in the graphs, and follow trends similar to those throughout the nation. These peak years were caused in a large part by the existence of new mortgage loan programs that made home purchasing available to buyers who had not previously been elibible. These programs greatly expanded the market for home purchases.

The Friends of the Library Book Sale is going on this week, August 25 - September 4, 2008. It is one of my favorite things. Friends always come to me to make sure that I know about it as soon as it starts. They have a used book sale twice each year, in the spring and in the fall.
Hardbacks are $2. Paperbacks are $1. They also have magazines, music, CD's, albums, movies, maps, tapes. There is a special section for rare books. The last day of the sale, a large paper bag of books goes for $3.

To kick off the Labor Day weekend in Chattanooga, a large crowd was treated to three swing bands at the Swingfest in Coolidge Park. The largest part of the crowd was college age or younger. Several couples were dressed in prom attire. A wooden dance floor was set up in front of the Coolidge Park stage. When the dance floor filled, dancers poured out into the Coolidge Park field.
The bands all consist of local musicians. Several band members are present or former local high school and middle school band instructors. The Chattanooga Times Free Press has posted some photos of the evening. … (4 comments)

The Chattanooga Community Kitchen will soon kick off its main annual fund raiser, Fast Day. The premise is that donors are to skip a meal and to donate the cost of that meal to the Community Kitchen. Fast Day used to be help around Thanksgiving Day celebrations, but now it is not limited to a single event.
Organizations are free to hold their Fast Day at any time, and in any way that best suits their purposes.

AOL and the Travel Industry Association have listed two of Chattanooga's natural attractions in their Top 24 in America. Ruby Falls, with its beautiful underground waterfall, is listed as number 3. The new combined Middle School and High School for Signal Mountain opened in time for the new school year. The gynmasium is still being finished, but the first day of school went well with faculty and staff enjoying their new digs.
The Signal Mountain High School has been long anticipated, and the new facility does not disappoint. The construction is part of a major commitment to building our area infrastructure and to improving our public schools. It is all part of Chattanooga establishing itself as a world class town. This past Saturday American Acceptance Mortgage, Jack Pangle of Coldwell Banker, Vicki Reedy, a local builder, and Zelma Blair of Insurance Network joined to hold a first time homer buyer seminar. The seminar was held at Owens Barbecue on Citigo Avenue.
The barbecue was great. Everyone who attended asked many questions, primarily about credit scoring and credit repair. The seminar emphasized how credit impacts loan approval and loan terms now more that ever.
