chattanooga chamber: Chattanooga Spirit of Innovation - 04/21/09 05:46 PM
The Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the annual Spirit of Innovation luncheon this year on April 29. Stefan Jacoby, President and CEO of Volkswagen Group of America, is the keynot speaker.
The awards recognize Chattanooga "area companies whose innovative ideas resulted in a creative new product, service or way of doing business."
Six companies are finalists for the Kruesi Award which is given in honor of John Kruesi, a Swiss born immigran who immigrated to the United States and worked with Thomas Edison as the head machinist for many of Edison's key inventions.

Dr Kay Andrews, Vice President of Education Initiative with the Chattanooga Chamber, spoke Thursday morning at the Enterprise Gateway Council Chamber meeting. She talked about the importance of education from kindergarten through the secondary grades to sustain the growth and development that Chattanooga has experienced over the last decades. She described the job expectations of the coming Volkswagen plant. Competency in math and science, loyalty, problem solving, dedication, experience, mature.

chattanooga chamber: Chattanooga Downtown YMCA completes $5 million renovation - 05/18/08 05:30 PM
The last meeting of the Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors featured Bill Rush, Executive Director of the Downtown YMCA. He discussed the extensive renovations ($5 million) to the facilities and how the new facilities will help accomplish the overall mission for the local YMCA.
The grand opening ceremony was held on Wednesday, May 7.
There are 7 local area YMCA's: Downtown, North River (Hixson), Hamilton Family (Shallowford Rd), North Georgia, JA Henry (Brainerd), North Georgia, Cleveland, and Rhea County. Address and contact information is available on the above link.
