Newtown, CT Holiday Decorating Contest The 2016 Holiday season brought something new to Newtown, CT - the Holiday Decorating Contest. This new tradition was born from the memories of a local resident who grew up in New Jersey. Her town had such a competition when she was growing up and her fond memories of it made her want to share it with the people of Newtown. She started with a Facebook Page for the Holiday Decorating Contest and as the excitement for this event grew, people flocked to this page.
