A Farmhouse Gets New Life in Newtown, CT Back in June of 2015, we listed a home for sale - 9 Bennetts Bridge Road, Sandy Hook. This home had been owned by the Kearns family since 1936 when they purchased it from Charles Beardsley. The Kearns family were local dairy farmers for many years.

How Does Garbage Work in Newtown, CT? Unlike other places that we've lived, there is no town garbage pickup for household garbage. Well, that's not completely true.
The town does pick up recyclables once a week out on the street. You can get a small recyclable container from the town - it's closer to a bucket than to a garbage can - and it has the town's emblem on it. It's a cute container, but it doesn't really hold much. Replacement and new resident bins are free.

Frozen Pipes Are Not Fun Earlier this year, we represented the buyers of a foreclosure home here in Newtown. Foreclosures are generally fraught with "issues". This one wasn't too bad, but there were split pipes in the home and they are always problematic.
Pipes split are due to the pipes in the home freezing which happens when there is no heat in a home. No heat can happen for a few reasons, but during the winter months, no heat is always problematic - especially if the home is vacant.
