town: Newtown, CT Holiday Tree Lighting - 12/05/09 01:57 PM
Newtown, CT Holiday Tree Lighting  Last night, the Newtown, CT Holiday Tree Lighting at the Ram's Pasture took place.  This is an annual event that usually takes place on the first Friday of December.  It's truly one of the most beautiful evenings in Newtown.  The roads leading to Rams Pasture are all lined with lighted luminaries (small paper bags with cutout on them with candles inside).  Town residents attend this event in great numbers.

town: Newtown, CT Labor Day Parade - 10/02/08 12:52 PM

Newtown, like many other small towns in America, holds a Labor Day Parade every year and town residents turn out in droves.  Newtown's parade is a big event and many of the town's residents are a part of it.   I have been both a spectator and a participant in Newtown' Labor Day Parade.
As a spectator, I lined up on Main Street (one of the streets along the parade route) with the thousands of other town residents.  The excitement of waiting for the parade to begin is almost intoxicating.  Everyone is meandering toward their parade positions while happily greeting friends and neighbors along the way.  As you hear the parade coming … (7 comments)
