Vuecrest, a Neighborhood of Enduring Character, Still Retains its Sizzle - 11/29/10 02:37 PM
Vuecrest, one of West Bellevue's hottest neighborhoods, has had a big run in its values over the last ten years. Even with the recent market correction, homes here have easily doubled in value and held onto those gains. The reasons are clear: the views here are among the best in West Bellevue, it is a cohesive well maintained neighborhood, is walking distance to downtown, has a defined border, with entrances from three major streets, all underground utilities, and there are strict deed restrictions protecting the character of the neighborhood, and views to the Seattle skyline, Lake Washington, and the Olympic Mountains to

November Snowstorm Leaves Some Memories in Bellevue, WA - 11/27/10 01:48 AM
Monday, November 22nd started colder and by noon the snowflakes were flying here in Bellevue, WA. The streets were staying merely wet for a few hours and the snow wasn't sticking. That all changed pretty fast and before the afternoon was spent, the roads were blanketed and the main arterials and freeways were clogged. Sea-Tac Airport was cancelling incoming flights. One cargo jet actually overshot the runway, albeit not by much and no injuries. For many, 6 or more hours spent in the car on their way home that night, when normally it might have taken 45 minutes...well it was pretty scary I'm sure for most. My

Spotlight on Wilburton Hill Park in Bellevue, WA, on a Snowy Day - 11/25/10 05:16 PM
Since we moved to the Glendale neighborhood a few years ago, and particularly since we got our puppy this spring, we've been enjoying Wilburton Hill Park, a short distance from our home. The park is the largest upland park in the City Park system, encompassing 105 acres total, and serves as a major link in the Greenway System and Lake to Lake trails system. It has turned into our favorite park destination in Bellevue, with all it has to offer. Wilburton Hill Park has so much to offer with its two baseball diamonds, a brand new artificial turf soccer field,

Rambling Lane in Medina is a Special Address - 11/19/10 01:57 AM
What makes Rambling Lane in Medina so special? Maybe it's because it still feels like the Medina I remember from the days of my childhood, when we pedaled our bikes to school and stopped at the Medina Grocery for an after school snack. Mostly the character of the homes on Rambling Lane still have their period architecture intact, with comfortable street level entries, mature trees, and nicely trimmed hedges alongside this quaint lane with no sidewalks. These homes feature lovely westerly views across Lake Washington to the University of Washington's famous double decked stadium, the snowcapped Olympic Mountains, and views

Condensation in double paned windows - 11/14/10 12:23 AM
As a homeowner and an agent, I have seen this happen to not only some of my windows, but to those of my customers. There is simply no fix other than window replacement. I have never seen such a good explanation of what actually happens inside the window. I knew the seal had broken, allowing air in between the panes. Then when the temperature changes, the condensation shows up. Replacing windows is expensive, so how does one prevent this from happening? I have heard that failed caulking and too infrequently repainting the exterior trim of a home are the main contributors

Estate Sale & Open House at Westchester Heights on Novelty Hill, Redmond - 11/13/10 01:24 AM
One of Washington's loveliest and most wildly popular plats on either Union Hill or Novelty Hill has to be Westchester Heights on Novelty Hill, in Redmond. There are 101 homes here, built by brothers William Buchan and John Buchan Homes between 1989 and 1991. Buchan homes are known for their traditional style and family friendly floor plans, steep pitched shake roofs, natural cedar siding complimented by red brickwork, interiors trimmed out in natural wood, box beamed ceilings, master suites with fireplaces, and fine finish work. Currently, Westchester Buchan homes are selling between $700,000 and $1.0 million. Westchester in Redmond is only 4.4

Capturing the Country in Swan Lake Estates, Union Hill, Redmond, WA - 11/09/10 02:34 PM
It's no surprise that Redmond's Union Hill is one of the most popular locations for people on Seattle's Eastside to call home. This area of Redmond is home to many Microsoft employees since it offers a good balance of lifestyle, location, quality schools, together with natural beauty and a semi-rural character. The quality of the lifestyle on Union Hill is unmistakable, and if you enjoy your privacy, you'll feel right at home here. Typical non-plat home sites would be a horse acre to well over an acre, up to 10 or more acres. There is a broad spectrum of individuality here, as expressed in home style, gravel or paved driveways, or different plats

ATTENTION! Septic Sytstem regulations have changed in King County, WA - 11/08/10 12:24 AM
In rural areas of King County not served by city sewer, property owners and their agents must be aware of the current Public Health regulations (effective date of change was July 1, 2010) regarding septic tanks and their maintenance. At time of sale, this is when "the sludge meets the pump". So, if you're planning to sell in coming months, this article will help you to understand the scope of what you need to know in order to avoid problems in your septic tank, and in your sale! Public health regulations in King County now require that the seller retain an On-Site System Maintainer (OSM) licensed by
