paradise: "One" of the prettiest old churches in Texas - 02/19/08 10:00 PM

One of the prettiest old church buildings I know about is located in Center Point, Texas.   Center Point is a small community about ten miles east of Kerrville, Texas on Highway 27.  Center Point is an unincorporated town and sits on the banks of the Guadalupe River.  It is a beautiful stretch of river almost untouched and not well developed.

The town itself used to be a bustling community with two banks, four hotels, two blacksmiths, two meat markets, a library, two lumber yards, drug store, and many other shops as well as a fair grounds and race track not far from the railroad depot.  … (51 comments)

paradise: Are there really Maple Trees in Texas? - 10/11/07 09:08 AM
Yes, there are Big Tooth Maples in Texas.
They were brought here during the Ice Age and what a beautiful landscape they bring to the Hill Country canyons in western Bandera and eastern Real counties.  Lost Maples State Natural Area is located just an hour southwest of Kerrville and only 86 miles NW of San Antonio.  During the last part of October and the first half of November, the maples peak in red, gold, and yellow Autumn colors.
The park is one of the most popular in Texas and several 100,000 visitors come each year.  You can drive about a mile … (14 comments)

paradise: Hill Country streams and rivers-the best real estate on Earth (Look at these pictures) - 09/24/07 08:00 PM
I
Ilove to sell real estate.  It makes people happy and usually increases their wealth. At the same time it fulfills their housing need.   What better job could anyone have than this?
My job is better because I live in the beautiful Texas Hill Country.  It is the called the Land of 1100 Springs.  How true that is!  You cannot drive very far without coming to a low water crossing.  One side of the crossing will be peaceful and still with the magnificient cypress trees growing along the banks.  The other side of the crossing will be rapids and waterfalls.  … (9 comments)

If you check out my website www.rickieichlerrealestate.com, you'll find I mention "Paradise" a lot.  This is what I call the beautiful Texas Hill Country area.  I first discovered the area in 1986 on my way to South Padre Island, also a beautiful vacation spot.  My husband insisted we stop for the night in Bandera, TX.  I complained because I wanted to get to the coast as quickly as possible.  When we topped the hill on Hwy 16 just outside of Bandera, I was astounded at the quaint beauty of the Medina River valley.  The big water tower downtown stood out … (8 comments)
