texas: Stop This Bill Now! - 05/03/08 09:28 PM

I heard part of a news article on the radio (KTSA 550 AM) this afternoon that really concerns me.  According to the article, Texas Governor Rick Perry is pushing for a new bill    that will tax small incorporated businesses making $1,000,000. or less per year on the gross amount they bring in rather than on the net amount.   This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard.  It is sure to put many people out of business.  All kinds of businesses will be affected, restaurants, dry cleaners, books stores, clothing stores, service businesses, retail and the Mom and Pop's.

texas: "One" of the prettiest old churches in Texas - 02/19/08 10:00 PM

One of the prettiest old church buildings I know about is located in Center Point, Texas.   Center Point is a small community about ten miles east of Kerrville, Texas on Highway 27.  Center Point is an unincorporated town and sits on the banks of the Guadalupe River.  It is a beautiful stretch of river almost untouched and not well developed.

The town itself used to be a bustling community with two banks, four hotels, two blacksmiths, two meat markets, a library, two lumber yards, drug store, and many other shops as well as a fair grounds and race track not far from the railroad depot.  … (51 comments)

The University has been reported as one of the top universities in the western United States by US News and World Reports' America's Best Colleges Guide.   Schreiner University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and … (2 comments)

texas: I'll laugh when you laugh and cry when you cry - 09/29/07 10:30 PM
Back in the 1980's...
I CRIED with many people that were losing their homes.  As a Realtor, you care about your clients and try to help them every way you can.  You are the one they look to for a miracle, sometimes.  And sometimes, it will take a miracle.
I changed my office back then and began to sell only FORECLOSURES  and Soon To Be FORECLOSURES.  I cannot help but get emotionally involved with my clients' needs.  So I understand what many people are going through today. This was the Dallas/ Ft. Worth area.
My area today is in the Texas Hill Country and it is … (0 comments)

texas: Tattoos-Is it LEGAL to discriminate against them? YES! - 09/26/07 11:04 PM

A report I just heard says, SOME apartment complexes have been denying applicants because of heavy tattoos and body piercings.  According to the fair housing officials with San Antonio city government and the Federal government, it may be unfair but it is NOT ILLEGAL unless the tattoos have religious or racial significance.
As a long time Realtor, I was surprised by this, because Fair Housing is something I have been taught and practiced for many years.  I personally do not like tattoos or piercings  (except pierced earrings) but never dreamed someone could be denied because of them.  This is a very interesting story aired on WOAI … (9 comments)

texas: Hill Country streams and rivers-the best real estate on Earth (Look at these pictures) - 09/24/07 08:00 PM
I
Ilove to sell real estate.  It makes people happy and usually increases their wealth. At the same time it fulfills their housing need.   What better job could anyone have than this?
My job is better because I live in the beautiful Texas Hill Country.  It is the called the Land of 1100 Springs.  How true that is!  You cannot drive very far without coming to a low water crossing.  One side of the crossing will be peaceful and still with the magnificient cypress trees growing along the banks.  The other side of the crossing will be rapids and waterfalls.  … (9 comments)
