texas hill country: Word of Mouth Advertising - 11/01/10 11:11 PM
Word of Mouth Advertising, how good is it really? Word of Mouth Advertising, how much can that do? Word of Mouth Advertising, how far can that go? How good is it? Word of mouth advertising is one of your clients telling their friends about the fabulous service you gave them. It is them giving their word to their friends that they also will be pleased with you. It is their recommendation. It is their backing. It is their experience. So, how good is that? It's the best advertising you can have! How much can that do? Word of mouth advertising can

texas hill country: I made it, now why do I feel so blue? - 10/26/10 08:17 AM
We have so much to Be Thankful for. A completed task, a realized goal and now... When our plans work out just like they were planned, sometimes we get a little blue. It is like being on the mountaintop and then dropping back down in the valley. Life is nothing but ups and downs, hills and valleys. We need to get used to it. Yes, we are very thankful for the mountaintop experiences but the higher the hill, the deeper the valley can be. So after you have successfully completed a goal or task, understand that the valley comes now. Keep

texas hill country: What Did I Miss in this Book? - 10/23/10 08:14 PM
I spent an hour and a half today reading a very good book. I got thru about 5 pages. It is a real estate training book and has some very good ideas and tips in it. I started to read a sentence or two and would stop and evaluate each word and each thought and try to understand the whole meaning of what was being said. I would begin to read again and I could not go past two to three sentences without examining the complete idea and processes that were being discussed. I tried to relate how this would pertain

texas hill country: The Hunt for the Missing Bluebonnets - 04/18/08 12:26 PM
Rain, oh Rain, Where have you gone? They say "April showers bring May flowers" but where, oh, where is the Rain!? It has been a very dry Springtime in our area and has had a big effect on the wildflowers and especially the bluebonnets. When I heard about the wildflower contest, I grabbed my camera and off I went to film these little darlings we have in abundance all over the beautiful Texas Hill Country. But where are the beautiful wildflowers and the Bluebonnets? See how dry and parched the ground is. This little lonely flower has pushed its way through the

texas hill country: I'm looking because "Now Is The Time To Buy!" - 03/29/08 11:32 PM
I'm looking for a good investment property. I tell my clients every day this is a good time to buy. The interest rates are low and the prices have softened a little bit. I expect inflation to hit with a vengeance in the future. So for all these reasons, I tell my clients "Now is the time to buy!" I think now is a good time for me to buy as well. A good investment for me might be different than for you. I may have different goals in mind but real estate has always proven to be a good investment. In

texas hill country: Another great afternoon, another great AR gathering - 02/22/08 09:37 PM
Another great afternoon, another great AR gathering! Only 3 of us but, oh well! It could not have been any nicer. We had a blast! I will save some of it for Judi to write about. Hopefully, she won't tell everything we did!!:) My good friend and real estate partner Cheri Lynn Venditti joined us and we had some wonderful discussions about real estate and Active Rain. After lunch, we had a photo shoot in the restaurant. Everyone watching but not minding. We did not notice, we were having too much fun. Next we took Judi to the Pomarosa RV Park. That

texas hill country: "One" of the prettiest old churches in Texas - 02/19/08 10:00 PM
One of the prettiest old church buildings I know about is located in Center Point, Texas. Center Point is a small community about ten miles east of Kerrville, Texas on Highway 27. Center Point is an unincorporated town and sits on the banks of the Guadalupe River. It is a beautiful stretch of river almost untouched and not well developed. The town itself used to be a bustling community with two banks, four hotels, two blacksmiths, two meat markets, a library, two lumber yards, drug store, and many other shops as well as a fair grounds and race track not far from the railroad depot.

texas hill country: Life Changes, Our Job - 01/27/08 06:30 PM
Thank you Gary Woltal for reminding us we need personal time too. I get so busy and excited about listing, selling, and helping people, I forget to take care of myself. I can easily work, work, work. My husband is a workaholic and I've kidded him for years but I'm just as bad. Good thing for us. We understand! Listing and selling is a lot of fun for someone who enjoys challenges. Meeting new people is always a pleasure but the best thing of all is Helping People. I have been reminded of this in the last few transactions I've had. My success

texas hill country: Cedar Fever, a not so welcome product of a beneficial tree - 12/18/07 08:50 PM
Headache, stuffy nose, itchy eyes, general ill feeling? Is it an allergy? Is it "Cedar Fever"? The Texas Hill Country is known for the vast hillsides of Ashe Juniper trees. Many ranchers cut them down to try to rid their property of the pollen producing trees. This is a wasted effort as the whole hill country is covered in Ashe Juniper. It is also a valuable tree, and many do not understand the benefits of the native Ashe Juniper, such as a food source for animals, shelter for deer, actually retaining moisture in the soil and of course a good wood product for furniture

texas hill country: What a good waitress can teach us - 12/16/07 07:12 PM
We ate at Chili's the other night and I so appreciated our waitress. She was quick to bring our menus and ask what we wanted to drink as soon as we sat down. We told her we were waiting on someone else and she made us comfortable while we waited. She quickly returned when our guest arrived and continued to give good service all during our meal. One thing I noticed was how she anticipated our every need. She watched to see if we were close to finishing our food or needed refills on our drinks. When we declined dessert, she brought

Have you ever waited a long time for something you really, really wanted? I have. I wanted to live in the beautiful Texas Hill Country for twenty years. We would come here for vacations and every extra long weekend we had. This was our favorite place to come above all the other places we had visited previously to discovering the Hill Country. The first moment I saw it, I knew I Had Arrived! This was it for me. I was home. Everything I had looked for my entire life; Suddenly everything was in its place. I knew this was where

texas hill country: More For Your Money - 10/29/07 10:11 PM
All right, it has been a week since I wrote a post, so here goes. I've been busy this past week trying to catch up with everything I got behind in while I was out recuperating from the shingles and my sprained ankle. Thank goodness, I can walk on my ankle now, still using the splint some. The shingles are mostly gone but I still have signs of them and the discomfort remains a little. Everyone I've talked with says it can take a long time. So I'm trying to be patient and get the rest I know I need. I am back working but

texas hill country: Fredericksburg- a Hill Country jewel - 10/16/07 05:16 PM
The first weekend in October is the celebration of "Oktoberfest in Fredericksburg". Great oompah, waltzes, polkas, German food and a variety of beverages makes for a good time for everyone. Many thousands of tourists enjoy visiting Fredericksburg every year. There is lots to do in this "historically preserved" downtown area. The streets are wide and welcoming to all their guests. Walk down the sidewalk and enjoy shopping at the many quaint stores selling a variety of gift items, antiques, collectibles, furniture, apparel, and all sorts of goods. You won't be able to pass up stopping at the bakery when you smell

texas hill country: Are there really Maple Trees in Texas? - 10/11/07 09:08 AM
Yes, there are Big Tooth Maples in Texas. They were brought here during the Ice Age and what a beautiful landscape they bring to the Hill Country canyons in western Bandera and eastern Real counties. Lost Maples State Natural Area is located just an hour southwest of Kerrville and only 86 miles NW of San Antonio. During the last part of October and the first half of November, the maples peak in red, gold, and yellow Autumn colors. The park is one of the most popular in Texas and several 100,000 visitors come each year. You can drive about a mile
