"Your so lucky" she said.  "You hardly did anything and you double-ended that deal and now you get a big pay check" she went on.  I thought about it and on the surface she was right!  I had merely posted a "Coming Soon" sign and a Buyer saw it and called me.  I negotiated a satisfactory deal, everyone approved, and 30 days later the deal closed!  Yippee!!

Many times our work seems too easy to be true.  And, many times, most only see the end conclusion; the successful part of "success."  They never really see the "work" part of success!  So, here's the "work" part: In 1985, I began knocking doors in area called "Southgate" in Hayward, California.  I assiduously knocked on the doors in the neighborhood that I became known as the "area specialist" and sold many more homes than other Realtors that worked the area.  In that work, I met an Owner and I knocked on her door for 17 years before Cal Trans (California Transportation Entity) bought her home to expand a freeway.  Two years later, she bought a home from me, and she lived in the home several years before she passed away.

Last year (2010), her family, called me and said they were thinking of selling "Mom's home" and wanted me to sell it.  Last month I sold the property and it closed last week!  In the process of selling the property, the Owner had saved a stack of notepads, calendars, notes, letters, and advertising that many Realtors had left over the years at her home two homes.  I laughed at some of the things I had left over the twenty five or so years and what other Realtors had left, too! It was amazing assortment of many Realtor's work!  So, yes I was lucky that she selected  me among the other Realtors.

Many times our work seems so easy that some call us lucky!  But usually most of our luck we generate through persistence, dedication, committment, and a long-term relationship building concept!  In terms of the transaction; the skill necessary to bring two diverse interests together in a meeting of the minds and seeing that through to conclusion is an amazing accomplishment.  This never seems like work to others but to those of us that know, we see things differently!  And, of course, a little luck never hurts either!!!

Rick Rodriguez (Pacific Union International Inc.)
In this tumultuous real estate market… any sale is a good sale, right? Not always! Have you ever sold a home that you knew wasn't the right home for your Client; yet, perhaps you went ahead and closed (? ) the sale anyway? I've come across this…

Rick Rodriguez (Pacific Union International Inc.)
As we all scramble to reassess the value of our net worth perhaps, it's also time to reassess what we value most? Many of the postings I read here are focused mostly (rightly so) on making money. And yes, after all, we have to make a living to…
