The Health Care Legislation. Let your voice be heard!! - 12/29/09 07:24 PM
Both the House and Senate passed sweeping Health Care Reform legislation in December. Now it will go to a conference committee to iron out the differences.

This has been called the most sweeping legislation since Social security had benn passed in the 1930's
I certainly hope this proceess is not rushed, and is NOT voted on at 1:00 am!!
I suggest, no I DEMAND, that this bill in it's entirety is put online for a minimum of FIVE days so the American taxpayer can review it and voice theri concerns to their representatives. I also feel that the vote on this … (2 comments)

Foreclosures and evictions on holiday hold - 12/28/09 01:15 PM
Mortgage-finance companies Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are suspending foreclosures and evictions for two weeks in a temporary break for borrowers during the holiday season. The suspension runs from Saturday, December 19th, through January 3rd.
Citigroup Inc. announced a 30-day suspension of foreclosures and evictions, affecting about 4,000 borrowers.
Fannie and Freddie did not estimate how many homeowners would get their grace periods.
Last winter, most major lenders suspended foreclosures while the Obama administration developed its $75 billion loan-modification program. But foreclosures picked up again after those suspensions lifted.

"Shadow inventory" of foreclosed homes looming - 12/28/09 11:55 AM
The number of homes about to be foreclosed on has created a "shadow inventory" of homes that will be for sale in the coming years and will weigh down prices. 1.7 million homes were on the verge of foreclosure in the fall, up from 1.1 million at the same time last year.
The foreclosure backlog is already nearly half the 3.8 million unsold new and existing homes. "We're going to be dealing with high levels of distressed (sales) in the marketplace for at least a couple of years," said Mark Fleming, chief economist of First American CoreLogic. "It's not just all going to disappear."

Good News on November Home Sales in Central Ohio - 12/22/09 11:12 AM
Prices are continuing to stabilize so there is reason to be optimistic.  The month of November has shown an increase in home sales.  Sales have risen 59.5% from this time last year.  With 1,839 listings purchased, this is the highest numbers seen in November since 2005.

The numbers may be largely due to that fact that a number of buyers were in a frenzy trying to complete their sales before November 30th, original deadline, for the tax credit.  Luckily Congress extended and expanded the credit until June 30th for all homebuyers.  With the extension and expansion of the tax credit … (2 comments)

We have had some odd inquires from Craiglist! - 12/20/09 07:26 PM
Most, if not all of our listings are posted on Craig's list. Recently we had an inquiry on one of our homes for sale. The caller asked about the for rent ad we had on Criagslist. Our response was "Huh, that is listed for sale"
It appears someone had "re-bloged"  our Craig lists post as a for rent ad. I guess they were trying to rent it to someone sight unseen and skim the deposit. The rental amount for this home was un-realistically low, so I guess it attracted some attention. Good thing they called us instead of the number on Craigslist.

Foreclosures Contributing to Frayed Nerves - 12/18/09 10:29 AM
High foreclosure areas of Columbus have reached a boiling point.  Not only are the homeowners affected but, municipal workers are also affected and exhausted.  Frustrated officers have told residents, "If you don't like the crime here, you should move out!"  This is due to the increase in suspected prostitution and burglaries.  The exhausted police force is now being investigated and city officials have denounced the comments.

Crime is bad out there and officers are just as frustrated as the citizens and victims.  These are neighborhoods riddled with abandon homes not only due to foreclosures, but foreclosures are part of what … (1 comments)

I just checked the upcoming sherriffs sales in Central Ohio - 12/16/09 06:52 AM
Kinda of scary... Usually most of them are in a middle/ lower price point. However this is truly changing. Our average price in Columbus Ohio is around $165,000. I found a luxury newer home going to sale for over $1,000,000. I also found a vacant commercial building that was occupied by Circuit City for $3,500,000..
It will be interring to see what 2010 will bring to a foreclosure auction. What is happening in YOUR area foreclosures?

There are mixed feelings in the real estate world for leads that come in off the internet. On one hand, all the statistics show that 80%+ of people start their home search on the internet, so you’ve got a huge market there. On the other, some Realtors® don’t like these leads because they feel they’re “tire-kickers” or are looking too far in the future.
I think internet leads are a great way to ensure ongoing clients for your business, both now and in the future, but … (1 comments)
