A year-and-a-half old program designed to entice college graduates to put down roots in Ohio is meeting expectations so far, according to officials at the Grants for Grads program. Grants for Grads, operated by the Ohio Housing Finance Agency, offers interest-free loans for down payments or closing costs to college grads who decide to live in Ohio after college.

This past May in 2011 the Clintonville area saw 32 homes get sold. This is almost half the amount of homes sold in May 2010! What's going on in Clintonville?!? Average home sold in 2011 were 2BD 1BA 1,625 sq ft sold for $210,918 after 96 days on the market. Average home in 2010 was a 2BD 1BA 1,408 sq ft sold for $190,001 after 55 days on the market.
This shows similar sized homes selling for proportional prices but taking twice as long to sell. Is it the timidy of buyers or the lending hurdles that are keeping people from home ownership? … (1 comments)

Home prices in major areas have reached their lowest level since the housing bubble burst in 2006, driven down by foreclosures, a glut of unsold homes and the reluctance or inability of many to buy. Prices bell from February to March in 18 of the metro areas tracked by the Standard & Poor's/Case-Shiller 20 city index. And prices in a dozen markets have reached their lowest points since the housing crisis began. Prices in March rose rose only in the Seattle and Wahington, D.C., metro areas.

This past May in Central Ohio saw 1248 homes get sold. This is a huge drop from the 1922 homes sold in May 2011. The average home sold was a 3BD 1BA 1,918 sq ft home selling for $168,737 after 101 days on the market. Average May 2010 home was a 3BD 1BA 1,850 sq ft home selling for $173,302 after 79 days on the market.
So, the trend so far is that larger homes are selling for lower prices...is the "buyer's market" continuing to expand and if so when will it stop? Time will tell...
