ohio state university: Ohio State University Encourages Employees to Live Local

The Ohio State University has increased its efforts to help revitalize a struggling neighborhood within its University District. Now, employees can receive $6,000 in down-payment assistance when purchasing a home in the University District, stretching roughly from Lane Avenue, to 5th Ave. Ohio State began this assistance program in 1998 and since then 102 employees have used the assistance to purchase homes in the University District. With the increase in assistance, the focus moves to the southern portions of the University District and homes north of Lane Avenue are no longer eligible under the program.

CRC offers help during tense 'tax time' The Tax Man cometh, and he cometh for most of us. One of the many services offered through the CRC and its volunteers is help with individuals' tax forms. Federal and state income tax forms can be confusing as the rules seem to change every year. So volunteers are being coordinated, through the CRC and the Ohio Benefits Bank, to help maneuver through all the paperwork. Appointments are necessary to take advantage of this service. Operators of Union Cemetery, between Ohio State University and Riverside Methodist Hospital, now have a bit more room for burying the dead. Records show the Union Cemetery Association this month bought the former Boulevard Gardens nursery at 3050 Olentangy River Rd for 1.3 million. The 1.9 acre property north of Ackermn Road served tree and shrub buisness from 1954 until it closed in 2008.
