Pending sales in March 2010 were up 23.7 % over March pending sales 2009. For the same period homes that closed were up 7.4%. Overall the first quarter was a good start to the year with pending sales up 17.2% over the first quarter of 2009. Let's hope this trend continues

The Commerce Department reported Wednesday that sales of new single family homes dropped 11.2 percent in January from December.
This is a national figure however, and I have always said that the Omaha metro is it's own market. In addition, a better comparison, I feel, would be to compare January '09 figues to January '10 figures. In Omaha new home sales increased 12.6% and the number of new homes that went pending increased almost 30%. A report on KPTM.com and statistics from the National Association of Realtors show what many of us around the metro area have been saying since the market started it's correction. You can not base local real estate sales on national news. Real estate markets conditions are localized.
The doom and gloom that has been reported in the East and West has created concern and I feel in many cases confussion among buyers and sellers in our local markets. Who should you believe, the national news reports, they have to tell the truth, right, or your local REALTOR, they are just in it for themselves, right?
