Where Does Passion Come From? - 03/30/10 01:00 PM
I recently read this, and decided to post it here. I hope everyone will enjoy it as much as I did. I've been on a big kick lately about people bringing passion to their jobs. I don't care if they are an artist, a banker, a teacher, a waiter or whatever. We need to realize that everyone benefits when people are excited about what they do and how they deliver it to their customers, clients, neighbors and even strangers. The great Martin Luther King, Jr. once gave a speech at a junior high school in Philadelphia in October, 1967 where he

Home Affordable Modification Program - 03/29/10 11:12 AM
The Obama administration announced changes to the Home Affordable Modification Program, which is targeted at helping those who are unemployed and "underwater" on their homes, two groups who need the help the most, and haven't been getting help...until now. HAMP loan servicers will be required to provide 3 to 6 months of forbearance to eligible homeowners who lose their jobs, reducing their mortgage payments to a level that doesn't exceed 31 percent of their monthly income. Some homeowners who owe more than their homes are worth will also be able to refinance into loans guaranteed by the FHA, if lenders agree

Will Real Estate Survive The Government...And The Media? - 03/22/10 05:01 PM
So many questions are being asked right now. "Will interest rates be raised?" "Will the health care reform bill hurt the investors in real estate?", "Will Tiger win the next Open?" and "Will the market survive without government subsidies?" It's a wonder we all got out of bed this morning and came to work. Houses in my area are still selling quickly, many of them going into contract in one week or less. I almost feel like I'm back in the old days...you know...2005. But with all this talk now of the government not extending the tax credit any further, and

Must Haves For New Buyers - 03/19/10 09:30 AM
Recently, an article was released talking about the Must Have Features that buyers are looking for in homes. I revised the list and customized it to what buyers prefer in the areas I service. Buyers today want cost-effective architecture and a home that will be flexible with them over time. As people change, and their lifestyles, so must the home. Buyer trends are constantly shifting. A few years ago, the McMansions in Scarsdale and Edgemont were all the rage. What's popular right now? Purchasers are having more of a focus on family togetherness- a perfect home for them is one that

This is a great Green method too, since you are basically keeping your cabinets, but just changing the look. Refacing vs. Refinishing The most visible and used elements of your kitchen are also the most

Tiger Woods is Back With Elin...and Real Estate Stats for 2010 - 03/05/10 12:06 PM
Every day, the news media reports some sort of bleak commentary regarding the economy, government, healthcare, etc. Sometimes it's a wonder that any of us is able to continue going on with our lives. Another month has passed with an outrageous number of job losses, you almost you wonder how anyone has a job anymore. Even one job loss at this point is too much compared to the already millions of people who do not have any employment. But with a news media that thinks the top story of the day is telling us how many times Tiger has "birdied" all

Thinking Ahead To Summer...And Warmer Days - 03/02/10 04:26 PM
With Scarsdale and Edgemont having received yet another snow storm, most people are counting the days till spring and summer arrives. And what is one of the best features to have in the summer? Why, a pool, of course. Like Clark Griswold in National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, who fantasizes about buying an in-ground pool with his holiday bonus, you can see it already: The crystal clear water, the poolside deck, the floating raft just waiting for you to climb on and sunbathe. You're not alone. Some real estate professionals caution that a swimming pool can be a deterrent to buyers when
