In a time of economic downturn and when many agents have decided to give up their real estate license I entered the world of real estate. I have held many jobs and even served my country for six years in the U.S. Army, but I reached a point in my career where I was truly not pleased I needed more. One day I prayed and asked God to show me the true desires of my heart and I didn't find real estate it found me.

I truly enjoy what I do, however it has not been easy. I have not been strectched outside of my comfort zone this much ever before in my life. I have learned and then I have had to go back and relearn all the stuff that I thought I learned the first time.

I have been blessed to be in a company and an office with great professionals who truly care about my growth and development and as a new agent this means a lot. I received my license in July of 2008 and have not looked back since that day. I truly know now that this is where I am suppose to be.

We had an Awards Ceremony on yesterday and I was there to celebrate the other agents who had worked so hard last year. I had hopes of being one of the recipients for 2009, but to my surprised I heard my very own name called and almost fell out of my chair. I had no clue that I was being considered for an award. Someone has seen me as an agent with potential and therefore I recieved the rising star award out all the agents in my region with 18 months or less in the business working with Century 21. This is truly and honor.

I have said to my self if I can do this with the 20% that I have put forth, imagine what I could do if I put forth the other 80%. I am excited and wanted to share this experience. It has opened my eyes to all the possibilities that lie ahead of me.

Proud To Be An American!!!!!!

Today I was very proud to be an American and to live in the Greatest Country on this earth. I know that may be taking it a bit far but let me explain. Today I participated in Early Voting for the Presidential Election 2008. I decided to cast my vote early instead of waiting until November 4th. I visited the "Early Vote Polling Office"downtown Augusta at 530 Greene St. Rm 103 (it is open from 8:30am until 6:00pm, Friday October 31st is the last day for early voting in Augusta).

It has been extremely cold here in Georgia these last couple of days. Temperatures are well below normal for this time of year. Nonetheless, upon arriving at the polling place I noticed that it was an unusually long line outside of the building and it almost discouraged me from even getting out of my car. I thought just wait until November 4th to vote, but I decided to get out the car and wait. While standing in line I was amazed to see the different people from different walks of life all coming together for a common purpose to vote for the next President of The United States.

I saw elderly man standing on his cane, a woman with a hair net on her head headed to work, a college student with a book bag on his back, a soldier in a military uniform. There was a older lady in front of me who was originally from Europe, two middle-aged African American women in front of me who were voting for the first time in there entire life.

There was such an excitement in the air as I watched the people wait in line in the cold to vote. People were smiling as they were leaving the building with their "I voted" Georgia Peach stickers plastered on ther jackets. It was a very proud moment for me as I watched their faces as they departed. I have voted in many elections, but there is definitely something different about this one. I can't ever recall people being so eager and anxious to elect a president and with every thing that is going on in our economy who can blame them.

I think it is a powerful statement regardless of what we hear in the media, it is those people who came out today and will come out on November 4, 2008 who make this country what it is. Only in America can so many people from so many different walks of life come together for one common purpose.

I hope you too will be just as excited in voting wherever you are. One person, One vote can make all the difference in the world. We all matter and our voices need to be heard. Make sure you get out and vote.

Columbia County Fair Near Ft. Gordon, GA

The Columbia County Fair is coming to town. The weather is suddenly getting colder and there is a brisk chill in the air. We are now seeing the local fairs popping up all over town. There are several fairs in town and all of them are sure to be a blast. You can expect cotton candy, popcorn, funnel cakes, corn dogs, candy apples and a ton of other great treats.

The Columbia County Fair starts October 30, 2008 and ends November 8, 2008 at the Columbia County Fairgrounds (Columbia Road across from Patriot's Park). Gates open at 5pm Monday-Friday, noon on Saturday and 1pm on Sunday.

Nightly Ride Specials and Entertainment. There will be 4-H community exhibits, new shows including: chainsaw carvings, BMX Stunt Show, dancing horses and pig races. Also you can expect lots of fun and exciting rides and food.

Western Carolina State Fair in Aiken

The Western Carolina State Fair began in Aiken, SC on October 16, 2008 and will end on October 25, 2008 at the Aiken Jaycees Fairgrounds on Highway 1 in Aiken.

Special events included a Monster Truck Showdown that began on October 20 and 21, a demolition derby that took place on October 22, 23 and will also be on 25th, a petting zoo and pig races nightly.

Cool Weather Means Fairs in Augusta, GA

The cool weather means the fairs are in town. The Georgia-Carolina State Fair in Augusta began October 17, 2008 and will end October 26, 2008 at the fairgrounds at 3rd and 4th streets and Hale Avenue. The fair features rides and games and nightly entertainment. There are numerous exhibits including patriotic quilts that will be given to veterans at the Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home after the fair, China painting, art, models, and needlework.

A Tribute to the Fallen Soldier

Starting October 19, 2008, the Marines of Fort Gordon, GA and the surrounding Augusta community will begin a run to commemorate the more than 1050 Marines and Corpsman that made the ultimate sacrifice while serving as part of Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom. This tribute will begin with a brief ceremony, as the Commanding Officer of the Marine Detachment orders a 21-rounds to be delivered to the firing detail that will be formed on November 07, 2008.

The first runner at that time will begin the first of the over 1050 three mile laps around Barton field located on Ft. Gordon, GA. As each runner completes their lap the 21-rounds will be passed on to the next Marine or Sailor. This process will be repeated over 1050 times until a lap has been completed for each of the fallen Marines and Sailors. The final lap will be run by the entire compliment of Marines and Sailors that participated in the event. The tribute will end at approximately 1500 on November 07, 2008, when the 21-rounds will be handed over to the firing detail and a 21-gun salute is rendered, followed by the playing of taps and the singing of the Marine's Hymn.

A Marine or Sailor will be on the track running 24 hours a day for the entire 20 day duration. The run will cover over 3150 miles and will take over 450 hours to complete. This journey is to remember the fallen brothers and sisters that are now part of our Corps' history and to honor their sacrifice.
