Today I was very proud to be an American and to live in the Greatest Country on this earth. I know that may be taking it a bit far but let me explain. Today I participated in Early Voting for the Presidential Election 2008. I decided to cast my vote early instead of waiting until November 4th. I visited the "Early Vote Polling Office"downtown Augusta at 530 Greene St. Rm 103 (it is open from 8:30am until 6:00pm, Friday October 31st is the last day for early voting in Augusta). The Columbia County Fair is coming to town. The weather is suddenly getting colder and there is a brisk chill in the air. We are now seeing the local fairs popping up all over town. There are several fairs in town and all of them are sure to be a blast. You can expect cotton candy, popcorn, funnel cakes, corn dogs, candy apples and a ton of other great treats. The Western Carolina State Fair began in Aiken, SC on October 16, 2008 and will end on October 25, 2008 at the Aiken Jaycees Fairgrounds on Highway 1 in Aiken. The cool weather means the fairs are in town. The Georgia-Carolina State Fair in Augusta began October 17, 2008 and will end October 26, 2008 at the fairgrounds at 3rd and 4th streets and Hale Avenue. The fair features rides and games and nightly entertainment. There are numerous exhibits including patriotic quilts that will be given to veterans at the Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home after the fair, China painting, art, models, and needlework. Starting October 19, 2008, the Marines of Fort Gordon, GA and the surrounding Augusta community will begin a run to commemorate the more than 1050 Marines and Corpsman that made the ultimate sacrifice while serving as part of Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom. This tribute will begin with a brief ceremony, as the Commanding Officer of the Marine Detachment orders a 21-rounds to be delivered to the firing detail that will be formed on November 07, 2008. Augusta natives as a whole takes part each year in the Annual Hispanic Festival downtown. This festival has welcomed Hispanics and non-Hispanics alike for a decade and a half. I would like to share some photos from the Georgia Aquarium located in Atlanta, GA. My family and I had the privilege of traveling to Atlanta to the Aquarium and also the Coca-Cola Factory. Incredible time spent with my family. Very affordable and something for all ages. Mr. Turtle decided to smile for the camera. We also have Mr. Stingray.
