The Fight for Your Life…Flu Vaccine-vs-Optimized You

The question of whether I recommend Flu shots and Swine Flu shots have been so frequently asked of our staff that I thought it would be good to visit the topic and tell you our stance on this issue.

I cannot say it strongly enough!

No microbe can replicate out of control in an optimally healthy body!

When you go outside in the winter you can see your breath, like steam coming out of your mouth. This is happening all the time, year round!

So you are breathing in any number of viruses every minute of every day without getting sick!

You are getting “vaccinated” every day by all of the viruses you breathe in and ingest with your food and drinks…without all the formaldehyde and mercury and gene-altering garbage in vaccines. (see the hyperlink below to see what is inside these vaccines)

Is it enough to “boost the immune system”? Not anymore.

The invincibility of the body against viruses has more to do with the overall integrity of every aspect of your body, mind, and spirit than it does with the immune system.

Officially and for the record, I am not a supporter of the Flu vaccinations for anyone! I would recommend that everyone participate in year-round preventive treatments by a doctor trained in American Biological Medicine and Circuit Healing so that the body enjoys optimum health all year long!

How to Beat a Virus:

• If you are going to use herbs like Echinacea to boost your immune system, remember that herbal formulas with synergistic combinations of various herbs work better than taking a single herb. • When the days are gray and cloudy get to a good quality tanning bed and “catch some rays!” UVB light from these beds is perfect for converting your cholesterol into pro-Vitamin D! Don’t stay in the tanning bed long enough to even turn pink. Stop before you start to turn pink. Vitamin D is actually a hormone in your body and should not be taken as a pill since it screws up this conversion from Cholesterol to 7-Dehydrocholesterol, ultimately to “Vitamin” D. Keeping your body’s own pro-Vitamin D high is a very important part of staying well this winter.

Why Negativity Is Just Plain Awful

First I am determined to speak regarding a "negative mindset" and why you would be wise to avoid such a mindset, and why if you are clever, you should attempt to rid yourself of every bit of negativity you possess.

Why?

The normal happy type individual, is like that owing to the process of how they perceive things, however when you pick negativity, you ultimately pick an unhappy life. Bad idea.

The danger of being negative may be found when you consider the stereotypical mean aging hermit. They seem to hate the world, nature and even little children. They are alone for good reason. Do you want to end up like that? No.

Find Solace In The Positive

Positive Fulfillment

People want to be content, in fact, if you don't want to have a happy life you will have issues that I don't entirely have the capability to help you with.

I want you to be happy, here's hoping that you want that too. In the utopian ideal we would chase happiness at all costs, really I can not find a thought of what else there is, however years of mental conditioning might make us lose the idea of what utterly matters and what can certainly make us conclusively content.

You don't need unhappiness, you don't go after a negative life, though very few individuals seek to chase the opposite.

Some people who think outside the box actually do get away from the standardized job teaching and find precisely the thing that makes them smile and they've committed their existence to gaining a happier life. Banish the negativity at bay.

It is not just me thinking that your need to drop the negative like a sack of potatoes.

Income Creation Vs. Wealth Creation

Whatever their reasons, the simple fact is that people in the job track will never create true wealth because they are copycatting an income creation system, which is based on linear growth, as opposed to a wealth creation system, which is based on leveraged growth.

People copycatting the income creation system are locked into a time-for-money trap. They trade a unit of their time for a unit of dollars. With income creation, 10 hours of work, equals 10 hours of pay. Unfortunately, most of the time, income creation is an endless treadmill. If you don’t do the work, you don’t get paid. If the treadmill stops, the income stops. People following the income creation system become slaves to temporary income, and they are accidents waiting to happen. If they fall victim to illness, or injury, or long layoffs, or burnout, they are income-less.

Those brave souls who have broken away from the ranks, who have realized that there are other systems out there to copycat — wealth creating systems — are choosing to copycat a system that allows them to leverage their time. They don’t fall victim to the time-for-money trap because they do not trade time for dollars. For them, 10 hours of work means 100 hours of pay… or even 1,000 hours of pay. Moreover, their efforts create residual income. Unlike temporary income, residual income keeps earning money whether they show up to work or not!

Video Games & Child psychology

It is true that many parents are concerned about the impact of video games on children. They were so fearful that creates real confusion between real and virtual, that causes in children need to commit aggressive acts or that it would "kill" the imagination of young players.

In adolescence, particularly important phase of emotional development of children, however, that there is speech and the gaze of the parents remain the first reference. The idea of confusing real / virtual and must be excluded, especially any serious study not just now demonstrate that specific risk. The child sees the game as a "place".

It is true that, in essence, the game is a space for the emergence of aggressive impulses. But this should probably be seen as a way for children to endure the frustrations and tensions accumulated during the day. When a parent takes a careless glance at the screen, it may well be moved to attend what he called violence and transgression. But actually playing with her child, it is more likely that also includes what the game can bring to the child.
This difficulty in understanding the interests of the child for the game stems from a combination of various elements:

- Firstly, under what one might call "generation gap" identification process is much more difficult to establish for some parents.
- The parents themselves have a report "sacred" to the image, particularly through television, which prevents them from being mere receivers. There is something disturbing about seeing their children and "manipulate" in entertainment image in the Game
- Parents often forget their own games, which included children, too, this dose of Violence (cowboys and Indians to shoot with no less fury than in most games).

The negative view that some parents may have the game should probably be weighted. The game most often acting in revealing a preexisting reality.

What capacities are stimulated?

For over 15 years, Patricia Marks Greenfield, a professor of psychology at the University of California - Los Angeles, worked on the video game effects on the brain of the player. Among its findings, it is interesting to note that:

- The fact of playing a video game improves the ability to represent three-dimensional space.
- It also has an input result on improving intelligence deductive. The process whereby, from an observation, formulate hypotheses and define appropriate strategies are strengthened.
- Finally, the game is seen as a means to develop in the player management capacity and multiple tasks simultaneously.

More generally, the game breaks with the traditional mechanisms of pedagogy (the hypothetico-deductive) allowing to experiment and learn just by making mistakes.

We also see that the frequency of tests and tables, the game requires some perseverance and force the player to coercion if it is necessary to obtain a victory and the accompanying value.

This enhancement is especially desirable in children who are failing in school. The game allows them to reassure them to fight against these "alleged incompetence" and achieve successes that are lacking in their everyday life.
Finally, teenagers are quite fond of games allowing them to play another character and develop an avatar. This alter ego is a way to play with his identity to be another to face certain situations more calmly and to earn trust and who may be lacking in this period of development.

Buying Your First Home

First-time homebuyers (FTHB) are taking advantage of one of the best real estate environments we have ever seen. Home affordability this year has been at an all time high with low interest rates and declining home prices. However, buyers on the fence should not be complacent.

Home prices in many markets have not only stabilized but are rising. Interest rates, while still incredibly attractive, could be poised to rise in coming months as stimulus from Washington is scheduled to end in December. Finally, the tax credit of $8,000 for qualifying FTHBs is currently scheduled to end November 30, 2009.

Why Buy a Home?
One of the first questions someone naturally asks themselves as a renter is, "Why should I become a homeowner?" There are many reasons, but probably the first one is the pride in knowing that you have established a foundation for building personal wealth as well as a basis for future memories.

Thinking back to your childhood, many of your fondest memories may be from events in your childhood home. Holidays, birthdays, and family events all typically took place in your home growing up. Anything you and your parents wanted to do to your home, within reason of course, were options of your choosing.

Knowing that you have taken a major step in financial independence also creates a sense of pride that few things can replicate. However, it's one thing to say owning a home makes sense, it's another to actually look at how owning a home can help you financially.

Financial Reasons to Buy
Aside from the emotional implications, any decision involving money has to make sense. There are few things anyone can do that have a greater impact on their finances than owning a home.

The reasons to buy your first home are numerous, not only today, but anytime. In a comparison of renters versus homeowners, the U.S. Federal Reserve Board of Consumer Finance found that the average net worth of renters was $4,000 compared to homeowners at $184,400.

Building personal wealth can be accomplished a number of ways but owning a home provides a path that takes advantage of several ways at once, compounding their net impact on your bottom line. Increasing equity leveraged from the reduction of mortgage debt and home price appreciation are one path. Income tax deductions both from the sale and ownership of the property are another.

Move in and Watch it Grow
What do a tree and the impact of owning a home on personal wealth have in common? Neither grow quickly but both grow larger and become stronger over time. A home purchased today at a price of $150,000 will grow in value to $364,000 over 30 years at an appreciation rate of just 3%.

While the impact of home values over the last three years can not be ignored, during the period from 1950-2002, U.S. home prices appreciated at an annual growth rate of 4.8%, or significantly greater than the example just given.

The Impact on Your Wallet – Today
Owning a home creates a number of items that can result in both an immediate and long lasting boost to your wallet. The first is time sensitive and needs to be acted on quickly to benefit.

Income Tax Credit. The income tax credit available from the IRS for up to $8,000 for qualifying FTHBs is scheduled to end November 30, 2009.

Points Pay Twice. Many buyers today are opting to pay points to lower their interest rate. In some cases, this can be a negotiated expense that the seller may pay to incentivize you to purchase their home. Points paid to lower an interest rate are considered pre-paid interest by the IRS and would result in an income tax deduction for the buyer, regardless of who pays it.

Mortgage Interest. One of the largest tax deductions most people report each year is the amount of interest they pay on their mortgage. While not exact, on a $150,000 mortgage with an interest rate of 5.50%, the amount of the first year's interest would be approximately $8,000. For a family earning $70,000 in a federal tax bracket of 25%, this amounts to a significant savings, effectively reducing the amount of a homeowner's monthly mortgage payment. For those that pay state income taxes, the impact is even greater.

Private Mortgage Insurance (PMI). PMI is insurance that is mandated by a lender when the amount of a down payment is less than 20% of the purchase price. The purpose of PMI is to protect the lender in the event a borrower later falls into default and the home falls into foreclosure. PMI under most circumstances is a tax deductible expense. Consult your tax advisor for more details.

Real Estate Taxes. Property taxes, which can be normally included in the monthly mortgage payment to your lender are a deductible expense. This deduction also effectively reduces the monthly mortgage payment for the borrower at tax time.

Possibly More Dough. These are not the only expenses that can be deducted from your income at tax time. Other items can include moving expenses associated with a job relocation and home improvements that are deemed energy efficient as determined by the Recovery Act. As always, consult with your tax advisor for specific details about how each type of deduction mentioned in this article could apply to your situation.

Act Now and Plan Accordingly
If you or someone you know plans on purchasing a home in time to take advantage of the tax credit, there are some things to keep in mind. The last day to close to take advantage of the tax credit is Monday, November 30, 2009. Keep in mind, this follows Thanksgiving week. With the holiday offering a shortened work week for many, this will make closing at the end of the month more challenging.

Another item to take into consideration is recent legislation impacting a lender. If the Annual Percentage Rate, or APR, changes by more than .125% from the time of initial application, the lender is required to re-disclose the Truth in Lending statement. When this document must be re-disclosed, time must be allowed for a home buyer to receive the document in the mail and review it for approval.

One way to minimize any need to re-disclose your loan documents is to either lock early in the application process at the interest rate on the loan application or submit an initial loan application with a higher-than-current-market interest rate. So, if current rates are 5.50%, your mortgage professional may suggest your application reflect an interest rate of 5.75% for underwriting and initial loan disclosures.

A prudent buyer may plan for closing to occur no later than November 24, 2009 to allow for any possible delay and still take advantage of the tax credit before it expires on November 30. Another prudent decision would be to allow a minimum of 45 days to get your loan approved and closed. Just be sure that when you lock your interest rate, you allow for a cushion in your lock expiration date in the event your closing is delayed.

This would mean that, for your protection, you should work to get your home under contract not later than the first weekend in October. While some lenders may still be able to accommodate a later purchase contract signing, submitting your application earlier is advisable due to the volume of applications lenders may receive during this time.

Best Path to Take Now
Buying a home today could be the best financial decision a renter can make. Not only does this decision help turn a residence into a home, it establishes a foundation for future personal wealth, both immediately and over time.

To decide what works best for you or someone you know, get pre-approved today so you know exactly what you may qualify for both in purchase price and monthly payment. This one action can remove a lot of stress and simplify the home search process since you will know what you can afford.

To stop your ‘dream’ home from becoming a nightmare there a some simple tips to follow. Firstly, and perhaps most importantly, put together a budget for the construction that is affordable, based on a realistic appraisal of your financial situation.

If you find you need to make modifications to your dream, do so, and make sure that the home design not only meets your desires, but also fits within your limitations. There are some basic rules to follow that will minimise the chances of allowing your ‘dreams’ to run away with you.

Once you know your budget, set a high end cost that you can afford. This should reflect the absolute cost that you cannot exceed, under any circumstances. Perhaps your lender will have some input into this. Once you have this figure you may realise that you really can’t afford some of the luxuries you will were hoping for. Better to know that now and make realistic plans than to be caught short during the construction process.

From this high end affordability figure take out your calculator and substract at least 15%. Now you have a figure that you can safely work with. You may not realise it but you can expect most construction projects to overrun the budget by 10 – 15%. Again, by being prudent you may avoid having to go begging to the bank, or worse, the in-laws, for funds to make up for construction overruns.

Next you need to decide how best to make the available finances meet your needs. Make a list of things you must have, and then a list of options you would like to have, if finances allow. No surprises, if need be the option list is the one that gets the chop in order to keep to your budget.

Now the fun begins. With your firm budget in hand now is the time to shop for builders and home plans. You will find the task for more pleasing and easier working with your budget and you will avoid wasting time looking at options that just won’t do.

Once you have short listed a number of home plans and builders set aside some time to check out each for pitfalls. With regard to builders ask for references in the area you intend to build and check these out. A useful place to check is with the local city building department. They should have experience of the builders work and a quiet chat may just save you from making a bad decision.

If possible arrange to visit some previous customers and even some existing customers. Again you may gain some valuable insight in to how a particular builder operates and deals with customers. Check to see if there have been any consumer complaints and how they have been dealt with. Often a web search will turn information about builder complaints, particulary for regular offenders.

Life Insurance and Taxes

Life insurance is traditionally one of the main sets of insurance benefits that the government does not tax as much as many other benefits. Different policies have different tax rules. It is important to study the taxation rules for each kind of life insurance before making a final decision. Usually your insurance provider can tell you what taxes your family can expect to pay when you pass on. Taxes of life insurance benefits are varied, but a general knowledge can be helpful when choosing a plan.

Whenever money changes hands, it is usually taxed. This is the same for life insurance as well. Any benefits received throughout your life, or after your death are usually tax free. However, the money that you pay into the account is usually paid with money that has already been taxed. However, there are several occasions where your benefits might be taxed. If you change plans at some point in your life, that is likely to be taxed. If you withdraw any benefits early, that is also taxed. If you sell your policy that will also be taxed. Because of this it is important to carefully choose the right life insurance plan.

There are a few ways that some of the taxes of life insurance benefits can be waived in some way. One option is to work for a company that offers life insurance as part of their retirement plan. This means that the premium that you put into the account will be taken from your pre-tax dollars. However, there are few companies that offer this kind of plan.

There are other important facts to know about taxes of life insurance benefits as well. First of all, any dividend that you receive towards your policy every year are not taxable. As long as you do not receive more money when you take it out than you put in, you will not be taxed. However, if you receive a higher benefit than you have paid into the account, then you will be taxed on that extra income. Policy loans are also usually not taxed as long as you keep the policy. You will have to pay taxes on the interest accumulated from the policy. Death benefits are usually not taxed.

This information will help you choose the best policy for your needs and the best policy to avoid paying unnecessary taxes. Always ask your insurer what kind of taxes you can expect to pay with their policies.

The Reality to Growing Herbs Indoors

Can you grow herbs indoors? Certainly you can! They won't be much good, but sure, you can grow them. Let us dispel an enormous myth, generated by too many idiotic filler articles on the internet, as to growing herbs indoors.

Yes, they will grow indoors, but the expectation of most people is that they will grow enough herbs to harvest them every second night for making dinner - it's not going to happen. They are not going to look like the bunches in the supermarket, and they will not be as potent. For starters, herbs need at least, got that - at least, six hours of sunlight, per day - for at least 10 days, in order to be able to reproduce that which you took last night for dinner. If you harvest too much, the plant may very well cark it, as it needs its leaves for photosynthesis in order to survive.

Now, I don't know about you, but my experience is that most house-holds do not have enough window space, that allows that much sun in. Then again, should you have so many windows and if, you want to spend your days running around the house with an armful of potted herbs, moving them from window to window as the sun moves - all the best to you. People living in flats and apartments, depending on their geographic location, may be lucky to get 2 hours of sun - and most will get none. Given the opportunity, you could take them outside each day, whilst the sun is shining, but I have little confidence that this practice will continue after the second week, if that, for most people.

Add to this, the fact that herbs are essentially an outside plant, when growing inside, regardless of how much sunlight they get, this is still not optimal conditions - therefore, the plants will be leggier than normal (more stalk than leaf), so twice as much of the plant is needed in cooking. The taste/aroma of house-herbs is weaker and so, twice as much is needed to get the same effect. When you look at plants like sage, rosemary, oregano and similar - the natural environment for these plants is on the side of mountains, just above the tree-line. It is the harshness and exposure that makes these herbs potent.

Unless you have a purpose built sun-room, actually live in a glass house, or have a couple of dozen of each plant that you can set up on a rotational system, it will end up being a once-a-month treat, to actually use some of your precious indoor herbs. The first argument about this, is of course "But you can grow lots of plants indoors" Very true, however indoor plants do not ordinarily have their leaves ripped off them, they are only there for looking at, not harvesting.

Having said all that, there are of course herb kits that come with everything necessary - including GROW LIGHTS! Brilliant idea and works reasonably well, too. However, if you are thinking of going to go the expense of a grow kit, I think you will find it is far more economical to buy yourself a case of decent wine and a packet of herbs from the shop. On a practical note, it is far more practical to grow more herbs than you need in the garden in spring and summer, then cut and dry the excess. You still get bragging rights with this method, as opposed to the sad display that will be sitting on your window sill. For those people living in flats and apartments, herbs, especially dried herbs, are cheap as all get out - AND they last for a long time before becoming impotent, like years, so do yourself a favor, buy 'em.

Thus ends my rant on the reality of growing herbs indoors.

Can Duplicate Content Still Get Ranked ?

Does Google still rank duplicate content? How about the other search engines?

With all the talk of duplicate content and penalties and such and such, you’d think the search engines would have just stopped ranking it completely. But they haven’t. And all the evidence you really need that they haven’t is Google’s recent (within the past 6 months) announcement of a new recognized tag - the canonical URL tag.

The canonical tag - attribute, if you will - is a relationship attribute that you can append to your URLs so that Google knows which one you want indexed. That is, which version of duplicate content on your own site that you prefer to be found in Google’s index. If Google wasn’t still ranking duplicate content then such an URL wouldn’t be necessary.

Of course, it could be argued that the canonical URL is necessary so that Google doesn’t make the decision for you as to which duplicate content is more important, and that would be true. But I’ve actually seen cases where the same content is indexed multiple times across several websites.

The question for webmasters is this: How do you position your content so that it is ranked higher than any duplicate content that might appear elsewhere on the Web?

First, I’d suggest that you publish your content on your own website before you publish it anywhere else, or allow someone else to publish it elsewhere. The search engines do try to find the first instance of publication and index that before indexing the duplicate content. So if you publish your articles on your own website before you publish them in other places then you stand a better chance of those articles being indexed on your own site first.

An alternative to publishing on your own site first is to only distribute unique content when producing off site content. Instead of submitting one article to 100 article directories, just submit it to one directory and write another article to submit to another directory. That will cut down on chances of your content being duplicated.

Love in a Mental Hospital

Just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to, doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have.

Jim and Edna were both patients in a mental hospital. One day while they were walking past the hospital swimming pool, Jim suddenly jumped into the deep end. He sank to the bottom of the pool and stayed there.

Edna promptly jumped in to save him. She swam to the bottom and pulled Jim out.

When the Head Nurse Director became aware of Edna's heroic act, she immediately ordered her to be discharged from the hospital, as she now considered her to be mentally stable. When she went to tell Edna the news she said, "Edna, I have good news and bad news."

The good news is you're being discharged; since you were able to rationally respond to a crisis by jumping in and saving the life of another patient, I have concluded that your act displays that you have a sound mind.

The bad news is, Jim, the patient you saved, hung himself in the bathroom with his bathrobe belt right after you saved him. I am so sorry, but he's dead.

"Edna replied, "He didn't hang himself, I put him there to dry. How soon can I go home?"

Surfing online can be a dangerous place for adults let alone kids. With over a billion personal computers in homes and businesses today, the amount of internet traffic is soaring and unfortunately so are the online predators. Keeping your kids safe online is as important as keeping them safe from harm offline. Parents can help children learn safety in surfing and general usage of the computer.

These tips focus on computer safety for kids while surfing the net, chatting in online rooms, social networking and more.

Online Safety for Kids Tip #1

Keep your personal information personal. Talk to kids about the importance of keeping their personal information to themselves. This includes address (both street and email addresses), phone numbers, last name and other information that strangers don't need to know. Although it's exciting for kids to meet new people online there is no real way of telling who is exactly on the other side of the computer monitor. So play it safe and keep your personal information to yourself.

Keeping Kids Safe Online Tip #2

Set rules for your children and your computer. Lay down the rules to your kids. Discuss when they can use the computer to search the web and for what purpose. Keep computers in an open common area if possible. If the computer is in their room, make it a rule that the bedroom door must be open while the computer is in use. Make sure everyone understands and agrees to these rules and set consequences when the rules are broken.

Add additional safeguards by using parental controls on your computers. Set controls that will block explicit websites or potentially harmful sites to your kids and your computer. Depending on the age of your child, you may also want additional software that can also monitor how they use the web – what they surf, chat room chatter and email traffic.

Honesty is the best policy. Talk to your kids about being themselves while in chat rooms or social networking sites. Pretending to be older than they are can set them up for potential danger. Acting older can attract the wrong person and situations. Staying honest is a good rule for many things in life. Of course, this doesn't mean they should by pass tip #1. They need to be honest without giving out personal information. If asked for this type of information they should just politely state they cannot or will not give out that information or simply leave the chat room if the other person persists. Have them report to you any conversations that make them feel uncomfortable. If need be, block that site with your parental controls.

These are just a handful of tips that can make your kids safer online and make you feel more comfortable about their computer usage. As parents it can be tough to keep an eye on things all the time, but if you communicate with your kids, set rules and parental controls you are one step closer to online safety for your kids.
