Along with the completion of the last few million dollar plus homes in Hamilton Mill, the “Home Town“ community is finally receiving a much needed alteration to it’s entrance and the section of Braselton Highway, State Road #124 that lies directly in front of the community. Gwinnett County tax payers will provide $200,000 of 2005 SPLOST money along with contributions from some local merchants, and $1.5 million of funds from the state of Georgia to pay for the road way improvement project. Hamilton Mill has increasingly gained popularity as a premiere life style community for its multi cultural residents. This fact, along with the growth of the commercial real estate space surrounding the country club neighborhood of nearly twenty two hundred homes, has made it obvious that the traffic situation needed to be addressed and corrected quickly. Studies showed that in December of 2007 there were 29,000 vehicles per day traversing through the corridor. Gwinnett County responded in a timely manner and the widening of both the main entrances to Hamilton Mill a “Home Town” and the section of Braselton Highway from Hamilton Mill Road to Pine Road is being widened to accommodate a turning lane for the several entrances to local commercial buildings.
Hamilton Mill Station
Among the variety of commercial businesses that are located in this life supporting corridor is a new boutique realty brokerage called Diamond Dwellings at Mill Creek. This outstanding professional campus with its craftsman style architecture houses many upscale, and state of the art businesses, as well as required services to the “Carriage Trade” in the area. The campus has a variety of configurations in its commercial space along with being home to:

A third of the campus is still under construction. This leaves an unknown identification of those possible resident tenants. Since the location continues to attract a genre of young entrepreneurs looking for a level of sophisticated office space and seasoned professional people wanting to b
e close to their homes, the campus of class ”A type” buildings answers all of their needs. This very unique business environment is located directly across from the new Duncan Creek Park on Braselton Highway, Georgia State Road #124. The new park is a welcomed addition to the rapidly growing district of Gwinnett County. There is something for everyone in this multi faceted recreational environment. The young people and teenagers have a state of the art skate arena, the 20 and 30 and 40 something’s have a set of basketball courts and a volley ball court. Of course, there is a football field along with two concession stands for refreshments. And there will soon be a Public Library for everyone to enjoy. The Georgia Department of Transportation has installed a traffic light at the entrance to the park along with a cross walk over the Braselton Highway to insure safety for those citizens using the amenities.
The next eighteen months will see the fruition of many new businesses locating into the stretch of road from Hamilton Mill Road to Sprout Springs Road. The present road improvements are slated for completion in early 2009. The new thirty five acre “Shire” shopping and restaurant complex, which is also located in the transitional corridor, is scheduled to open in early summer of 2009. The “Shire” is being developed by the same family that developed and built the “Shops of Dunwoody” over thirty five years ago.
