April 25th, 2010 and the pool is OPEN! I look forward to opening my pool every year and so does my daughter. I uncovered the pool Friday and we went swimming today after church. A long swimming season is one of the great things about living in South Carolina.

I have a group of friends and acquiantances that get together for a meal about twice a month, very informal. It is at one of the people's homes and the host decides who to invite. There is a "core" group and usually the host invites a friend or friends that no one else has met yet. This has grown and is something we all look forward to. Every Saturday from late Spring through early Fall, farmers and vendors from the area converge on the Live Oak-shaded grassy patch of land on North Fraser Street that is the home of the Georgetown Farmers Market. The hours are 9AM through 1PM, but get there early for the best selections. Local favorites like raw peanuts, boiled peanuts, local shrimp, and fresh beets tend to run out before Noon. There are live performances on occasion and the atmosphere is casual and friendly.
