Tis the season and downtown Hendersonville has the spirit and it will be on display this Friday evening from 4 to 8 PM with some shops remaining open even later.Besides the Main Street Christmas tree and decorations there will be carolling up and down the street, the trolley will be running and the rides are FREE from noon until 9 PM.  Santa will be out and about as well.  From 4:30 until 6:30 the Main Street Gazebo will be host to the Hendersonville Middle School playing a variety … (2 comments)

Hendersonville NC Raising Parking Meter Rates!  A sign of the times.  City Manager Bo Ferguson is reminding folks that parking meter rates in the city limits of Hendersonville are being raised effective 1 July 2010.  That's as of now!In an effort to assist the tight budget it was decided that Hendersonville's rates were low compared to other communities.  Sooo, the rates go from 0.25 to 0.50 an hour for parking at meters.It will be interesting to see if this has an effect on visitors to our beautiful downtown and businesses.  Non metered parking can be hard to find in downtown … (0 comments)

Current existing problems for downtown merchants in this lousy economy.  Things weren't quite as bad back in the Spring but without any bright spots to look ahead to for awhile landlords as well as merchants are feeling the hurt!  More and more businesses are having to leave their downtown places of business seeking cheaper rents or simply closing their business down.  Obviously this creates issues for the landlords as well.Some of the landlords are trying to work with merchants and adjust rents but other landlords have raised rents!The Henderson County Chamber of Commerce is introducing programs to assist area merchants in managing inventory and … (2 comments)

downtown: Hendersonville NC Historic Courthouse - 12/06/09 03:36 PM
This picture doesn't do justice to what I was seeing across the street from our beautiful historic courthouse located on Main Street in downtown Hendersonville, NC.  It's a very impressive site.The courthouse was built in 1904-1905 and no longer is utilized as the Henderson County Courthouse but has been restored and is definately a landmark in Hendersonville.
This beautiful structure was preserved, restored and reopened to the public in April 2008.  That's a statue of goddess Justice atop the majestic, gleaming dome.  The Courthouse now houses a historical Henderson County Museum.Residents and visitors alike enjoy taking time to relax in the spacious frontage to this … (0 comments)
