Why I Chose Real Estate! Baby I was Born This Way - 07/27/11 11:17 AM
Why I Chose Real Estate! Baby I was Born This Way. Just as the song says. When I reflect back on my history, I realize it was in my DNA. When my grandfather, Henry Grossman, immigrated from Russia to Corpus Christi, Texas in the early 1900's to escape the terror of Tsar Nikki, he worked hard, saved money and bought property. He owned an apartment complex and a commercial building in uptown Corpus Christi. He was a real entrepreneur. My father who was by profession a pharmacist was also an entrepreneur owning his own pharmacy, a boutique furniture store,

Warn Those You Know - 07/23/11 10:04 PM
who are looking for a lease online that there is a lot of fraud out there. Today a REALTOR called to ask me about a home his client was interested it that I had listed for lease last month. Tracing the links lead him to someone in the UK who had it posted for lease. He looked on MLS and found me whom he thought could notify the current tenants and/or owners that something was wrong and he also emailed the Web site on which it was posted to let them know. Thank you Don. Actually, the tenants had complained to

East Austin Property Tour - 07/22/11 07:26 PM
What a great way to get to know some fellow REALTORS and learn more about a specific area. This was my first experience on the East Austin tour and since I have a new listing in the area I was invited. Organized by Sergio Guerrero with Elite Financing and sponsored by Heaveny Care Moving this tour had some real perks. We toured 10 east Austin area homes and had a chance to see other listings in the area as well as get valuable feedback from other agents that I could pass along to my seller. Insead of the usual caravan stlye

Changes in the Texas Real Estate License Act - 07/20/11 10:44 AM
Texas has been known for having very strict licensing regulations and I think these changes to improve are for the better. The length of time in which you must gain experience as a salesperson prior to becoming a broker will increase from 2 years to 4 years as of January 1, 20012 per Senate Bill 747. In addition, a broker who sponsors a salesperson must take a 6-hour broker responsibility course which will count toward mandatory continuing education with 15 credit hours. I had my license for 5 years prior to becoming a broker because although that was always my intention,

Reasons a Scheduled Showing May Not Take Place and More - 07/19/11 09:32 PM
Yesterday the seller of a listing of mine called to tell me that a REALTOR had scheduled a showing for the afternoon. She was very excited and I promised to call the agent for feedback but when I looked online for the keybox activity, it showed no one had accessed the keybox to attain the key for admission. What could have happened? Occasionally, the buyer decides not to go to a house. Sometimes the showings run late and they are out of time; sometimes they drive up and decide there is something they don't like such as the neighbors, the location

I'm really excited that I will have a new agent joining my company. Elle is ready to go and just waiting for that last little hold up - TREC. She's taken all her classes passed the licensing exam, been fingerprinted and completed the application. She is just waiting for her active license to be issued. Welcom to Robin Scott, REALTOR, Elle.
