Corpus Christi, Texas was listed as one of the 5 HOT markets to invest which aired on Today on October 27.  Corpus Christi is surrounded by a wide area of cities which includes Portland, Ingleside, Port Aransas, Aransas Pass, & ROCKPORT.  Waterfront home sales in ROCKPORT appear to be much better than last year.  Statistics show that ROCKPORT sold 109 WATERFRONT homes in 2008 / 93 WATERFRONT homes in 2007.  Within the price range of 250,000-399,999 - 37 WATERFRONT homes sold in 2008 / 18 WATERFRONT homes sold in 2007.   Currently you can choose from 31 WATERFRONT homes on the market priced between 250,000-399,999.  Where is ROCKPORT?  "The charm of the Texas Coast" is located approximately 30 miles northeast of Corpus Christi.  What is there to do in Rockport? How about fishing, birding, boating, art galleries, dolphin sightseeing trips, museums, an Aquarium, shopping and Texas' only BLUE WAVE beach. One of my favorite pastimes is driving along the city and spotting a spoonbill, (Roseate spoonbill). They are a beautiful bird with a spatulate bill and bright deep pink that in flight appear to be a flamingo (NOT).  That's me parked and enjoying the view along the side of the street.  (Of course, when safely possible) A water park is in the works and TBC sometime in 2009.  Enjoy events such as Festival of Wines, Patriotic Boat Parade, Seafair, Rockport Art Festival, Hummer/bird Celebration, and the Tropical Christmas with lighted boat parade.  Are there other HOT properties in ROCKPORT?   Yes there are!  Visit www.rockportxhomes4u.com

Ok,  about a couple of months ago for my birthday I got a BLACKBERRY... WOW ... Yup I looked at this berry and thought I am crazy or what!  What in the heck I am doing with this.   HOW IN THE WORLD DID I LIVE WITHOUT MY BLACKBERRY.  I was out sick last week with that sinus stuff going around and did not make it to my office for 4 days!   This berry was better than cough syrup, better than any decongestant... I not only was able to stay on top of pending real estate transactions, but I could email clients and respond to leads all from the comfort of my pillow.  I think it even make my marriage stronger... my husband would ping me(you'll know what this is if you have a blackberry) little love notes ... all of 3 - 5 words but I know he was thinking of me during the day.... after 29 years of being married that fact that he thought of me during the day and let me know he was thinking of me made my heart go aflitter... It is amazing what this phone can do.  Mind you, I am still learning and finding more features about my phone but so far ITS JUST WONDERFUL..  Now if I could just get it to do some laundry or make a meal or two!!!

This was my first conference to any Realtor convention.  I have got to say if you have never attended one ,,,JUST GO.... I got my first certification which in today's market I thought was important.... "Texas Affordable Housing Specialist"   This was very informative ... but the BEST part was the networking at each of these classes that was available regarding each session... the links that are available not only to myself but to potential home buyers.

I attended during the Ike crisis... where is Ike going now!  I have several Realtors come and offer help ... I did not know these Realtors but they actually opened up their homes to me...  WOW.   Thank you to my son who lives in San Antonio who gave up his bed so his Mom would not sleep on the couch.... makes me proud.

Suzie Humphreys was our guest speaker luncheon on the last day.  SHE WAS FABULOUS!!!! From this luncheon I decided .... I would not go back home... just yet.... but rather spend the weekend with my son... just hang out... he is a successful young man... we are so busy and when he comes to visit I am always busy.... not the next 2 days... we will just hang out .... catch up .... cook some of his favorite meals....

To all the realtors I met and to those from the Rockport area who I visited with... it was great.  See you next time!

Is is just me or am I way off base.  This is not about politics.  There so many people in need... the recent flooding, fires... that are leaving so many VOTERS without basic necessities that I know that IF those FUNDING our presidential candidates such as the "FUNDRAISING NETWORK DONORS" - perhaps DONATED on BEHALF of THEIR PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES just may go a much longer way in getting elected.  Yes, I know that this is not how it works....WHY NOT!   It just doesn't matter whether it's $84 MILLION or $300 MILLION --- put your money where your mouth is!  Yes, I know I am jumping off the deep end here but ENOUGH IS ENOUGH... People all over are finding themselves in situations out of their control.  In one minute I see the news reporting the damage flooding has done in Iowa, Mississippi...don't mean to leave others out....and the next minute our presidential candidates are talking about the "enormous resources" that are out there to help elect our new president.... Presidential Candidates... where are your priorites.  Your VOTERS need you NOW!  Don't just visit -  BRING your "fundraising network donors" DOLLARS and say... You need this more than I need a TV campaign to get elected... You need this more than I do rather than spending the money getting the dirt about the other running for president... you need this more than I do rather the spending the gas, air travel being spent to get elected!  WHY NOT!  OK .. Fundraising network donors --- WHY NOT!   Yes, it's your money and you worked hard for it and you can spend it any way to want... WHERE are your PRIORTIES.... and I commend and thank you for the past donations you have gracioiusly given to helping those in need.... Today, right now, this minute... those VOTERS have no homes...it's under water.... been burned by fires.   Presidential Candidates do you really need the MONEY to get elected.

I read this article in the Corpus Christi Caller Times today and wonder WHAT IS WRONG with us ...."Homeowners buy new residence to bail on old"   The article is about a homeowner who plans to walk away from her home and let the property fall into foreclosure  but NOT BEFORE taking advantage of the mortgage lending practices that allow them to buy a new  primary residence before their existing residence has sold.  First of, I have to say that when my husband and I were transferred "job related" we were able to buy in our new city before our home in our old city sold.  This was "such a positive aspect of our move" .  Why RUIN this for those of who are being relocated.  I understand why this person feels the need to "scam" the mortgage company but STOP!  The article continues to say that homeowners are being coached by their real estate agents and brokers who see NOTHING WRONG WITH IT.  Hello,  how about ethics!   I do not agree that this is "just a business decision".  The article does say that mortgage companies are "starting to wise up to the practice and scrambling to fight back".  Look 2 negatives don't make a positive.  Is there a better way to help homewner's who are desperate?
