I'm Gay. Will You Be My REALTOR®? - 08/17/10 09:35 PM
Okay, so I get a phone call from a lady that has found some houses on the Internet that she'd like to take a look at and she was looking for an agent that could help in purchasing a home. "Well, I'd be glad to help," I said, "what properties have you got picked out?" Then she says that before we get to that, she's got some questions for me.  Sounds reasonable, right?  So, she begins by saying, "I've got a fiancee."  Okay, I said.  "and my fiancee is a woman." Okay, I said.  So she continues with "is that going … (27 comments)

I've seen some pretty bad listing photos in my time, too.  If the goal of the seller is to get the best price out of the home in the shortest amount of time, then it's generally a good idea to a) stage the … (5 comments)

Real Estate Agency Ain't Dead Yet! - 08/09/10 09:32 AM
I just read an article by James A. Crumbaugh, III, the CEO of Allison James Estates and Homes agency, entitled, Will the Real Estate Industry Cease to Exist?  Simply put, this is another doom and gloom outlook on not only the death of the real estate agent, but in this article the death of the entire industry, as we know it.After reading, I just had to write something because these always get a bit under my skin.  It amazes me how someone in the industry and is apparently extremely successful at it can actually think so little of it.  Don't get … (6 comments)

Here is a post via Lisa Udy about a fellow REALTOR, Carolyn Capalbo, an agent in Northern Virginia, and how someone can be adversely affected just for sharing a common name with someone that has become "infamous."  This is NOT identity theft, just having the misfortune of sharing a name, folks.
This post, as well as the other re-blogs of it, are the Active Rainers attempt to help our Carolyn get back on the right track and get her business back in line.
