Today's Bloomberg news reported that profits in the US may grow at the slowest rate in more than 5 years because of the housing slump.  The article quotes Timothy Ghriskey, a large asset management officer, as saying "The consumer is feeling the impact of lower housing prices.  Any consumer discr...

From AP...it appears as though the bad news on the housing turn-around is going to continue (whether you like to hear it or not).  According to KB Homes (per AP), the housing slump will "owrsen through teh end of the year and into 2008."  Interestingly, some people in the biz are talking recovery...

This morning I posted a little blog about frivolous lawsuits: http://activerain.com/blogsview/214942/Frivolous-Lawsuits-this-time.  Little did I know that the timing would be such that later in the day (as in mere moments ago), I'd be reading about John Edwards' position on stemming the flow of f...

I've posted a few blogs about frivolous lawsuits (see, for example, http://activerain.com/blogsview/212060/Suing-God-and-God).  Well here's another...to the tune of $5Billion.  This time it's against a very deep pocket--Google.  The lawsuit, filed in Federal Court in Pennsylvania, alleges that Go...

Ahhh...behold the falls of Idaho Falls.  See the water SPILLING OVER?  In some areas it flows over at a very rapid pace (and as an aside generates significant hydropower), and in other areas it  just trickles.  Got me thinking about the subprime mess.  In the beginning there was talk of "containm...

News just posted at the Idaho Statesman website shows that foreclosures in Idaho have doubled in the last year.  RealtyTrac shows 543 foreclosures in Idaho for August...and that's 28% higher than last month and 125% higher than last year.  The full story: http://www.idahostatesman.com/newsupdates...

According to CNNMoney.com, foreclosure rates jumped 36% August over last year's August data, and delinquencies and defaults more than doubled this year over last.  And...it could get worse:  "October is expected to be a peak month for hybrid adjustable rate mortgages (ARMs) to reset, with the int...

Larry Craig is no friend of the ACLU.  But true to form for the ACLU, they don't really care who the "wronged" may be, they're going to defend what they believe is an injustice.  I agree with some of what the ACLU defends, and I disagree with some of what the ACLU defends.  That's the great thing...
