fayetteville nc real estate: The bubble..., again? - 09/15/07 07:33 AM
Did anyone read Rich Levin's article in Broker Agent News today? It really resonated with me. Especially since my home market, Fayetteville NC, was never really caught up in the bubble or the burst that hit markets elsewhere. It's one more affirmation that what is really out of control is not the housing market but the reporting of it. Media outlets are making this problem (I do acknowledge there's a problem) as sensational and disastrous as they possibly can and the real estate and mortgage industry are being painted as the bad guy.

fayetteville nc real estate: American Flag banned in a public school - 09/12/07 02:35 PM
Follow up on earlier Goodyear post
Looks like Goodyear will get it's incentive package from the state of North Carolina after all. Gov. Easley vetoed the original package but now it looks like a new package is on the way checkout the story

American Flag banned in a public schoolI found this on the Drudge Report. Turns out a Sampson county school wouldn't allow students to wear images of the American flag in school yesterday (Sept 11). Am I in the twilight zone? The school officials said that students were forbidden from wearing other national flags so in fairness they forbid Old … (2 comments)

fayetteville nc real estate: First Time Buyer Series - Mortgages - 09/11/07 02:31 PM
This is my third post in a series for first time buyers - Mortgages
Mortgages are the topic of hot discussion these days. If you are a real estate novice here are some basics. first some Trivia: The term mortgage is really a misnomer because it is actually not a loan, but a security instrument, a piece of paper that a borrower gives to the bank that allows the bank to foreclose if payments aren't made on the home loan. Most people who use the term "Mortgage" are referring to a home loan. For the sake of this brief I'll be using … (0 comments)

fayetteville nc real estate: First time buyer series - Closing costs - 09/09/07 03:00 PM
This is the 2nd post in a series for first time buyers - Closing costs In my last post for first time buyers I explained earnest money deposits, closing costs, the subject of this brief are often a similar mystery for new buyers. During the "no money down" past few years I've had to explain to folks that even though a down payment isn't needed there are still up front costs associated with the home purchase. These costs appear to be a down payment but are very different. Closing costs are the fees and money held in escrow required to get … (0 comments)

fayetteville nc real estate: BRAC news - Fayetteville NC - 09/06/07 09:05 AM
Cumberland County Crown Center personnel hope to see booking increase as a result of BRAC
The center has space for exhibitions, conventions and meetings, which could be in demand when two major Army commands relocate to Fort Bragg from Atlanta in about four years.
" there could be 45 conferences and workshops each year, averaging three days each with 130 people attending each event. Many of the guests will be top-ranking military officials from Washington and elsewhere. Col. Al Aycock, a former garrison commander at Fort Bragg, said the post will have 32 generals — second only to the Pentagon — after the … (0 comments)

fayetteville nc real estate: Fayetteville NC...., The best real estate market in America - 09/04/07 01:57 PM

Fayetteville NC real estate is set to blast off. And yes, If you've been following my blogs you're probably tired of hearing it (I've been playing that record so much it's almost worn out) but it's true, I genuinely believe it. Eric Anderson (kudos Eric) a fellow Fayetteville NC real estate agent covered this very subject a few days ago but I wanted to stress the point a little more and from a slightly different angle.
Here is why I believe Fayetteville North Carolina may be the best real estate market in America:
Because of BRAC the Fayetteville North Carolina area is … (0 comments)

fayetteville nc real estate: First Time Buyer series - Assuring the Seller you mean business - 09/02/07 03:29 PM
This is part one of a series for first time buyers - earnest money depositsAs a first time buyer there are several things to make yourself familiar with. Because of the offer process, the purchase of real estate is different from most other purchases you'll make . Unlike shopping at the local store where prices are fixed, buyers make offers on real estate at the price and terms they deem appropriate, which the seller may either accept of reject.
Though acceptance is not guaranteed, even when a full priced offer is made, an appropriate earnest money deposit can help. An earnest … (2 comments)

fayetteville nc real estate: Fayetteville NC real estate - news - 08/28/07 02:02 PM
Site for Museum of Art to Be Festival Park
Yesterday a decision was made to go ahead with construction of the Museum of Art on the Festival Park site. Absent were the voices of Fayetteville NC citizens.  After the huge showing of people at last years Dogwood Festival hosting Hootie and The Blowfish many people are concerned that the Museum of Art will limit the space that was occupied by  Hootie's audience. Too bad, I guess, because the decision has been made. It reminds me of my father's response when I so often questioned his orders as a child, "because I … (0 comments)

fayetteville nc real estate: Is it really a "mortgage meltdown"...? - 08/26/07 08:28 AM
While cruising the web today, looking at industry news, generally keeping track of what's happening, I came across an article from  The Chicago Tribune talking about what a lot of us are talking about lately, the mortgage meltdown. The article makes the point that the mortgage industry is being victimized by hypocrites, the most prominent of which is a senator from New York. The article states that lenders who some years ago were vilified for not lending to less fortunate people, who coincidently were also greater credit risks, are now being vilified for making the loans. That's a 180 degree shift, … (2 comments)

"Not So Smart , In an era of easy money, the pros forgot that the party can't last forever" article by NewsWeek
Newsweek tears into the players of the mortgage meltdown. Pretty fair from what I read, except that borrower culpability is not mentioned .  Thanks for reading,

fayetteville nc real estate: Buyer Agent...., The Buyers Hired Gun - 08/20/07 08:43 AM
A few years ago, while I was taking calls at my office I got a call from a fellow about a home we had advertised. After giving him the information he wanted I asked, "Are thinking of buying a home?" and "Do you have an agent to help you?" The fellow replied, in a not so friendly tone, "I'm gonna find my house the same way I sold my last house, by myself". Now I must admit, I was offended. Did he think, I might use a Jedi/REALTOR mind trick to sell him a house while he wasn't looking? The caller … (2 comments)
