room solutions home staging portland or: The Top Things That Will Make It Hard For Your Agent to Sell Your House - 04/17/13 10:56 AM
Patricia Kennedy's post gives sellers something to think about before putting their home on the market. Condition is one of the important factors, and staging is part of condition. Sellers should take heed of Pat's great advice on making sure that your home is presented looking its very best, that pets are contained, and that smoke and other odors are banished! Via Patricia Kennedy (Evers & Company Realtors): Why do some houses sit around for ages while their neighbors fly off the shelf? The sellers often think their home lingers because it's something their agent is doing or not doing. And sometimes they (0 comments)
room solutions home staging portland or: Staging Makes a Large Portland Home more Appealing to Buyers - 09/29/12 12:53 PM
Our Portland home staging company recently staged a large home (over 6,000 sq ft) to make it more appealing to potential buyers. When buyers walk into a big, empty house it's hard for them to see themselves living there, and large spaces can be confusing. Their questions usually include "What's the purpose of this room?" and "How will we place furniture in this space?" In the previous online photos, the house looked OK, but nothing grabbed your attention. Take a look: The great room & dining area was undefined Staging this space with furnishings warmed it up and showed buyers (32 comments)

Whether you play it or just admire it's beauty, it's an impressive instrument. Our Portland home staging company recently helped prepare a charming 1911 bungalow for selling. During our first visit to this enchanting home it was impossible to ignore the biggest feature that straddled the living & dining rooms ... a lovely baby grand! Here's how the living room looked Before staging: We knew that this home had (33 comments)

room solutions home staging portland or: Making the Master Bedroom Memorable: Home Staging Portland OR - 05/27/12 06:52 PM
When buyers are looking at homes, if the master bedroom is Vacant it's difficult for most people to make an emotional connection with this room. You might ask "why is this important?" As professional home stagers in Portland Oregon, we know that the master bedroom is a room that should convey "this is a peaceful retreat, a place where you can escape from the pressures of your day, and relax." This week we staged several vacant homes and we found that all of the master bedrooms benefited from staging. Here are some Before & After photos of Master Bedrooms in Portland, (33 comments)
room solutions home staging portland or: Even Beautifully-Decorated Homes can Benefit from Staging - 05/05/12 05:35 PM
As professional home stagers, we often explain that the difference between decorating and staging is that decorating is done for the homeowner's taste and style, and staging is done to attract the target buyer. When it's time to put your home on the market, making a few changes in how your home is perceived can have a positive effect on maximizing your equity (after all, that's the bottom line when you're selling). Our Portland OR home staging company was selected for a recent staging project that was multi-layered. This spectacular property is located in an exclusive Portland suburb, and the sellers (38 comments)

On Thursday April 26 (10:30am Pacific/1:30pm Eastern) another episode featuring our home decorating and design work will air on HGTV. This particular episode, one of five that we did, highlights the home search of a newly-married young couple. They find a home in Sherwood, Oregon (a suburb south of Portland) that fits them perfectly ... but they need master bedroom furniture: "Stephanie and Brett have been living with her parents since the wedding, but now they must find their first place before her mom and dad begin remodeling their home, leaving these first-time home buyers with no place to sleep. room solutions home staging portland or: Staged on Monday ~ SOLD on Friday! Home Staging Success in Portland OR - 02/12/12 05:23 PM
As a home staging company based in Portland Oregon, we love helping our clients sell their homes faster! This week we staged a home in Happy Valley Oregon that had been on the market for two months; the listing agent told us that buyers weren't excited about the property, even though they'd had a good number of showings. She said that buyers often commented that they didn't like the backyard. As professional home stagers, we knew that by making the house itself look amazing, buyers wouldn't be as worried about the un-landscaped backyard. Room Solutions Staging staged this home on Monday (32 comments)
When your home or listing is on the market, remember that a vacant home (no matter how nice it is) doesn't include an important ingredient ("emotion") from the buyer's point of view. Here's a good example ... a beautiful new home in Portland was on the market from May through December 2011 without a sale. It was Vacant, and buyers just didn't "connect" with this lovely upscale home, even though it had multiple price reductions. The sellers then contacted our Portland home (32 comments)

room solutions home staging portland or: Home Staging Tip: Simple "Tweaks" Can Make a Big Difference in how Buyers Feel About Your Home - 07/09/11 05:00 AM
From previewing the online photos to an in-person viewing, buyers are making judgments about your home ~ everything from whether they can see themselves living in it -- to whether it's well-cared for, clean, and big enough for their needs. We recently staged an occupied home in Beaverton Oregon that had been on the market for several months but had no offers. The sellers selected a new listing agent, and also agreed to stage the home to make it more appealing to their target buyer. This home was already decorated very nicely, had great paint colors and was immaculate ... however, (49 comments)

room solutions home staging portland or: Staging Can Add ENERGY to a Home on the Market! - 03/06/11 02:43 AM
It's amazing how vacant homes can look cold, stagnant, and void of energy. Here's some Before & After photos of a mid-century home in Portland Oregon that we staged recently ... the smart listing broker suggested staging to the sellers, and they hired our company to stage it. Before, the Living room looks OK, but it's hard for buyers to "feel" how the space might work for them ....

room solutions home staging portland or: The Power of Exterior Paint when Selling Your Home - 12/11/10 01:17 AM
When your home is on the market, its curb appeal is the first impression that buyers have and its often a deciding factor in whether or not they want to see the inside of the house. Professional home stagers often provide our homeowner clients with neutral paint colors that will be appealing to their target buyers, along with other curb appeal tips. When I met with the sellers of this home recently, the first thing I noticed when driving up was the bright yellow paint. Although the paint job was less than a year old and in good condition, the color (59 comments)

Fellow home stagers, has this ever happened to you? Your client (the homeowner), who has moved out, contacts you and says, "My listing agent offered 'free' staging as part of their services .... but the staging isn't at all what I expected. Can you come look at the house to see if you can help? I feel we need a professional stager." First, I looked at the online photos ... this Vacant home had been on the market for several months, and wasn't getting the showings that it should have. room solutions home staging portland or: Staging a Rummer Home in Beaverton Oregon (what's a Rummer, you ask?) - 10/12/10 02:04 AM
Today my Portland home staging company completed staging of a "Rummer" home in the suburb of Beaverton, Oregon. If you haven't heard of a "Rummer" these homes were built in the 1960's and '70's with a post-and-beam design. Robert Rummer was the builder and creator, and he styled them after another type of home that he admired, the Eichler home. Eichlers were a popular mid-century ranch home in California, with most rooms built off a central atrium.
Here are some Before and After photos of this unique Rummer style of home.

room solutions home staging portland or: Home Staging and Good Photos Really Do Make a Difference - 09/19/10 04:33 AM
We recently staged a home in Portland Oregon that had been on the market for a couple of months without any offers. After talking with the client, I viewed the online listing photos and was "underwhelmed" with the presentation of this property. Looking at these online photos, you can't imagine feeling compelled to rush over to see this home in person This living room photo shows a fireplace and a nice window, but the overall feeling is dark & gloomy. This room needed lots of light and color accents to lift the energy and excite a potential buyer, and a (32 comments)
