The end of the space shuttle program has been an emotional time for Houstonians who have celebrated the successes and mourned the losses of the shuttle missions over the years. The Clear Lake area community has been front and center during the history of the space program.

To honor the shuttle program and what it has meant to the Clear Lake community, The University of Houston at Clear Lake (UHCL) will host a reception for the opening of a NASA photographic exhibition on Aug. 23 from 5-7 p.m. on the UHCL campus. Please help me wish a Happy 91st Birthday to Pauline! - 08/20/11 01:37 AM
Meet Pauline, who celebrated her 91st birthday this week! Pauline is amazing – she still drives, and her vehicle of choice is a big red Ford F-150 pick-up truck! Pauline can often be seen zipping around Friendswood in her big truck, on the way to visit friends and spread some cheer.

I met Pauline through Stonecroft Ministries. Stonecroft women meet in members’ homes every week for bible study, fun, and fellowship. This week our group took her out for lunch to celebrate her birthday. We let her pick the place, and she chose Mexican food – she likes it hot … (10 comments)

Information for Home Buyers - What is Escrow? - 08/17/11 12:21 PM
I just had a closing on a small starter home for a very young first-time home-buyer couple. Throughout the buying process, we covered all of the information they would need to know about purchasing a home, including how the house payment will include principal and interest, and ESCROW.

But wouldn’t you know it…when the escrow amount came up at the closing table, the wife looked at me with a blank face and said, “I know you told us about that, but what is escrow?"

There is so much information that is thrown at first-time home buyers; it’s no wonder … (3 comments)

It’s HOT in Texas! Here in the Houston area we have had 16 straight days of 100-plus degree temperatures, and the forecast is more of the same for the next week. To top it off, this is the driest year ever, with rainfall 19” below normal for this time of year. The extreme drought and heat is bringing challenges, including water rationing, and parched grass and trees.

But the temperature is not the only thing that is HOT in the Houston area. According to the Houston Association of Realtors (HAR), home sales in the Greater Houston Area in July … (3 comments)

For the third year in a row, every school in Friendswood ISD has been rated exemplary by the Texas Education Association, resulting in an overall exemplary rating for the district. The “exemplary” rating is the highest rating a school or school district can obtain from TEA.
