Who would you visit if you could go on an Active Rain road trip? - 01/26/12 12:23 AM
If you could go on an Active Rain road trip, where would you go? I love road trips and I also love seeing beautiful places right here in the good old USA. So, if I could go on an Active Rain road trip, here are a few of the places I would go, and the people I would visit.
First, on my way out of town, I would stop by Riverside, Texas and visit Joni Staples, one of my favorite people here in the Rain. I would enjoy the sights of Lake Livingston in the East Texas Piney Woods, and (20 comments)

I have a new favorite hamburger joint in Pearland! It’s FD’s Famous Burgers and Chicago-style Wings Sports Bar and Restaurant, located at 3115 Dixie Farm Road in Pearland. Now that’s a really long name for a restaurant! We stopped in there yesterday for a quick dinner and were so impressed with the great food and friendly, courteous service.
FD stands for Fat Daddy, which is the nick-name of the owner. Fat Daddy specializes in comfort food, soul food and home-style cooking.
FD’s serves burgers, Chicago-style specialties, wings, salads and sandwiches. They also have a home-cooked buffet on Sundays which (11 comments)

Your Realtor should bring in a home stager to help sell your home! - 01/12/12 01:27 AM
The agent you select to help you sell your home will have a toolbox full of marketing strategies and advertising ideas designed to bring qualified buyers in to see your home. Making sure your home gets maximum internet exposure, putting top-quality photos on the MLS, mailing out just-listed cards, purchasing print media advertising, doing broker open houses, and sending email blasts are just a few of the tools you’ll find in most Realtor arsenals. But sometimes, the preliminary work your Realtor does to help you get ready to market your home is just as important as what happens once it is (13 comments)

A pre-listing inspection might have saved the deal... - 01/08/12 12:03 AM
I showed a foreclosure home to some clients a few weeks ago, and they loved it. The home had been flipped by an investor who eventually lost it to his hard money lender. My clients made an offer, and after a little bit of negotiation, we were under contract. Time to order the inspection!
The inspector arrived and right off the bat started finding things we hadn’t noticed previously. Some of the things he discovered were pretty alarming. He found rafters in the attic that were completely broken, a wooden support beam passing straight through the chimney in the attic, (11 comments)

Trying out the new camera - 01/03/12 01:42 AM
I got a new camera for Christmas, and one of the first pictures I took was this one of our good kitty, Mitzi!
Mitzi has beautiful blue eyes and a fluffy fur coat. She is a pretty good model and very photogenic!
My new camera, a Canon EOS Rebel T3i, is a little complicated, so I have been taking all of my pictures so far on the “Auto” setting. The results are great. I can’t wait to learn more about the camera and try some more creative pictures.
One of the reasons I wanted this particular camera (7 comments)
