LilyTopia was one of the largest Lily displays in North America. The special event ended today.
This new annual event was inspired by the world-famous lily show at Holland's Keukenhof. Dolores and I toured the show on Saturday afternoon and took many photographs. Longwood Gardens is one of our favorite places to visit. The Kennett Square, PA location is near Wilmington, DE and you can combine visits to several museums when you visit the area. The Nemours Mansion and Gardens in Wilmington, Delaware, reopened in May after three years and a $39 million renovation.
Alfred I. du Pont (1864-1935) built the estate as an enclave for himself and his wife. It contains 77 rooms and 47,000 square feet. Dolores and I toured the mansion and grounds on Saturday morning. In order to preserve public safety and promote the health and welfare of its neighborhoods, the City of Gaithersburg has established a "Vacant Property"" reporting system. Neighborhood Services staff has been proactively tracking and inspecting bank-owned foreclosures for several months in an attempt to protect the City's housing stock and the quality of life in our neighborhoods.
Not all vacant properties are in bank-owned foreclosure status, however.  So that these do not go undetected, we are requesting resident assistance in reporting vacant properties to us online at vacantproperty@gaithersburgmd.gov.

The vegetation is really greening up here in the Deep Creek Lake area with the recent rain showers that were a welcomed sight. Nearly all of the docks are in the water now and people are taking advantage of the glassy waters before the tourist season.
