Unused painkillers in your medicine cabinet can lead to misuse. Remove the temptation by bringing unwanted and expired medications to the Gaithersburg Police Station for safe disposal on Drug Take-Back Day, Saturday, April 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The service is free, anonymous, and no questions will be asked. A prescription drop box is also available in the lobby of the Gaithersburg Police Station, accessible daily from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Learn more here.

The FY22 Adopted Revenue Budget is $70.6 million, and the FY22 Adopted Expenditure Budget is $70.2 million.

City of Gaithersburg, Maryland Municipal Equality Index Score
The City earned a score of 100 points in the 10th annual Municipal Equality Index, an initiative of the Human Rights Campaign that examines the inclusivity of laws, policies and services with respect to the LGBTQ+ community. Gaithersburg achieved a 94 score in 2020, and added points in 2021 for having all-gender single occupancy facilities, having a non-discrimination ordinance for City contractors, taking a public position on LGBTQ+ equality, and for having leaders demonstrate pro-equality legislative and policy efforts.

As of January 1, 2017, smoking and vaping is prohibited on City of Gaithersburg property and in City vehicles. Previous non-smoking regulations did not include vaping.
 
"While these ordinance changes primarily impact City facilities and public spaces, the changes that were made extend the ban of vaping and e-cigarettes in other places previously identified as "no smoking" areas, such as elevators, restrooms, healthcare facilities, retail establishments and restaurants, shared work spaces, schools and theaters."
