Hibiscus plants have become more popular in Kentlands, our home community within the City of Gaithersburg, Maryland during recent years. I think the reason is simply that the plants are now widely available for purchase in local garden centers. These flowers are available in many colors and red is one of my favorites. Many home owners are placing these plants in decorative pots.

Dolores and I enjoy photographing the butterflies at the annual Live Butterfly and Caterpillar Exhibit at Brookside Gardens. The 2017 Wings of Fancy Exhibit is available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily in the South Conservatory through September 17, 2017.
The admission fee is $8 for ages 13+, $5 for ages 3-12, and free for ages 0-2. Click on the link to reach the website for more information.
