Every visit to the very large conservatory at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA is a learning experience. Discovering beautiful plants and flowers and photographing them are activities we enjoy during every trip. Longwood Gardens is about 123 miles from our Kentlands home in Montgomery County, Maryland. So, this is a day trip destination for us.

Kung Pao Chicken and Winter Lager
Chef Dolores suggested Chinese food for lunch and went to Ming's Asian Bistro at 251 Market Street in Kentlands to pick up hot and sour soup and Kung Pao Chicken.
Her beverage selection was Samuel Adams Winter Lager by The Boston Beer Company. This lager is brewed with orange peel, cinnamon and ginger. Alc. 5.6% by Vol. Drink responsibly.
The combination was outstanding for our special lunch.

It is a good time to be thinking about what to plant in your home garden this spring. Dahlias grow well in Kentlands and they provide cut flowers from July through October. If you attend the Philadelphia Flower Show, that may be a good time to purchase some dahlia tubers.

Milkhouse Brewery at Stillpoint Farm
Dolores and I visited Milkhouse Brewery at Stillpoint Farm for a craft beer tasting. This was our first visit and we ordered a flight of six of their beers. My favorites were the Green Farmer and the Stairway IPA. Dolores' favorites were the Irish Red Ale and Goldie's Best Bitter. Click on the above link to visit the website.

We received emails from Bonefish Grill about the new bar bites that are now available and went to their restaurant in Kentlands to try a couple of them for happy hour.
We enjoyed the Crispy Cod Sliders (Alaskan Cod, on a savory potato bun, with their signature sauce, tomatoes and lettuce) and the Wagyu Beef Sliders (served on a savory potato bun, dressed with their signature sauce, tomatoes and lettuce). They are attractively priced at $6.00 for two sliders.

One of the Easter dinner desserts that comes to mind is the Hummingbird Cake made by my sister, Wynne Roos. It was wonderful but I do not have her recipe.
