Whoa. . . back to school already??? - 08/29/11 04:01 PM
Hey West Seattle parents, if you haven't looked at the sky yet today, I think Mother Nature is doling out a gentle reminder that it's time to get the munchkins back in "school mode." Yesterday's 80-something degree temps and blue skies have given way to pants, jackets & clouds. Personally, I'm still hoping for a resurgence/ Indian Summer (are we supposed to call those "Native American Summers" now?), but either way, here comes the bus! Hope the enclosed links to West Seattle school calendars and info. are helpful:

A Home I Love in Idaho. . . as seen from my Bike - 08/18/11 05:39 PM
We were visiting my family near Sun Valley, Idaho a couple weeks ago. There's a home I've been watching go up for at least a year, and it's now complete. Interestingly enough, I was at the grand opening of a small, boutique condo building on Seattle's Capitol Hill a couple years ago, and had the pleasure of meeting architect Tom Kundig, whose work I've long admired. "How is this possible?" you ask. Let's look at what's happening on a few different levels. As the article mentions, distressed properties are skewing pricing data, as they tend to sell below market value (nationally, short … (2 comments)

Alaska Junction. . . keep it on the down low please! - 08/09/11 05:12 PM
Thanks to the West Seattle Blog for this informative update on what's happening with the property at the southeast corner of the Junction. A builder/developer named Charlie Conner bought the property 11 years ago, with the intent of eventually re-developing it into a mixed use property. The most recent design was for a 200 unit , two-building apartment complex. They're putting the whole thing on the block however, I'll venture to guess it's because of the economy kind of. . . well, sucking.
It also appears this project would have been something of a departure for Conner; Judging from their website, … (0 comments)
