The recent tragic death of 3 Chester Residents in a house fire has firefighters on the west side of the city saying they could have done more if there was more funding, staffing, and equipment for the fire company.
It is my hope, that the city will see the value in increasing the funding for the fire department. The Delaware River Port Authority, which manages the operation of several bridges in the Philadelphia Area (The Commodore Barry Bridge in the City of Chester, Delaware County and the Walt Whitman, Benjamin Franklin and Betsy Ross Bridges in Philadelphia) are likely to see fare increases very soon, according to a recent proposal.

Chester is known for many things, including (Bill Haley and the Comets), but the world will soon know Chester as the home to yet another potential NBA star:
A 90-minute documentary, "Gunnin' for That #1 Spot," which opens Friday in theaters in six cities, including New York, showcases 4 NBA top draft picks, and 4 up and comming stars of the sport, including Tyreke Evans of Chester, Pa., who has committed to Memphis.

After reading Amy Brisson's article in the Delaware County Times, I feel compelled to respond: She titled her article, "Chester's Community Grocery Co-op wants to expand." For the sake of Chester, I truly hope they succeed, as their effort represents a level of "revitalization" that the community truly will benefit from.
The newly approved soccer stadium and the redevelopment of the Chester waterfront may be seen by future historians as the project that gave rebirth to an ailing city, but what will make that rebirth sustainable - ensuring that Chester does not fall back into the ashes it is … (2 comments)

The Co-op's Farm Fresh Market will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, and reopen on Saturday May 12th.
Thankfully, the City accepted their request to place the market in the central business district for the rest of the season. They will not be returning the West 7th Street parking lot.
New Location:
Edgmont Avenue (near the Transportation Center) between 6th and 5th Streets. Hours:
Saturday (10 AM to 2 PM) Wednesday (3 PM to 7 PM) (Note the new time)

The significance of the archeological dig going on near the site of the President's House at Sixth and Market Streets in Philadelphia goes well beyond artifacts and place. It can be considered a major milestone in coming to grips with the inconvenient and uncomfortable truths of slavery. It can also tell the story of the beginnings of the regional resistance to slavery, which later became known as the Underground Railroad.

I wanted to give you all an update on my son's condition.
This morning, Chuckie climbed in bed with us around 5:30 a.m. His coughing had kept him (and us) up most of the night, and his twin brother Joey had joined us in bed about 3 hours earlier, presumably to get away from Chuckie's loud coughing. Chuck was feverish, and his head was sweaty, so I immediately knew something was really bothering him. His breathing was shallow and rapid, and sounded raspy. There is an effort underway to establish a full grocery that is a cooperative store in Chester. This great news for investors. Anytime a community begins to improve the services available to it's residents, this bodes well for the community as a whole, including real estate values in the area.
