After reading Amy Brisson's article in the Delaware County Times, I feel compelled to respond:   She titled her article, "Chester's Community Grocery Co-op wants to expand."  For the sake of Chester, I truly hope they succeed, as their effort represents a level of "revitalization" that the community truly will benefit from.
The newly approved soccer stadium and the redevelopment of the Chester waterfront may be seen by future historians as the project that gave rebirth to an ailing city, but what will make that rebirth sustainable - ensuring that Chester does not fall back into the ashes it is … (2 comments)

Some of you have read my earlier meme response in the The First (?) ActiveRain Meme  posted by Jay & Francy Thompson (way back in December, '06), but Active Rain now has nearly 33,000 members (Back then only 11,000) so I will sumarize that info here:

coop: Chester Co-op's Farm Fresh Market -- New Hours & Location - 05/08/07 06:52 PM
The Co-op's Farm Fresh Market will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, and reopen on Saturday May 12th.
Thankfully, the City accepted their request to place the market in the central business district for the rest of the season. They will not be returning the West 7th Street parking lot.
New Location:
Edgmont Avenue (near the Transportation Center) between 6th and 5th Streets. Hours:  
Saturday (10 AM to 2 PM) Wednesday (3 PM to 7 PM) (Note the new time)  
Shoppers at the Farm Fresh Market have reported that they love the freshness and the quality of the Co-op's produce, saying that it's better than anything seen in the regular stores in Media … (0 comments)

coop: Chester Co-op -- a Community Investing in Itself - 01/10/07 02:14 PM

There is an effort underway to establish a full grocery that is a cooperative store in Chester.  This great news for investors.  Anytime a community begins to improve the services available to it's residents, this bodes well for the community as a whole, including real estate values in the area.  This particular effort will be doubly important, as it is a home-grown, community-driven effort, as opposed to an external group trying to force a change.  As the community takes pride in itself, as is evidenced in this type of effort, changes will be put in motion that will improve … (4 comments)
