From the first 45 plastic record I peeled off the back of a Post HoneyCombs box back in the 1970's to dancing to "Thriller" at my High School Prom, Michael Jackson accomplished much and gave of his gifts and skills more than any entertainer of his generation but not more than James Brown or Elton John or Elvis Presley. The media had a feeding fremzy on his life which truly made for a saddness and a lack of balance between what he gave the world in terms of "entertainment value" and what he got from the media which was "no sleep til death". This society truly loves their celebrities to death. What would the headlines of the Inquirer have said about Jesus? Rest in Peace Michael, this post will shortly be deleted in Loving Memory of an Entertainer that made this world get up and dance. Thanks.

I visited www.gasbuddy.com and searched my city for gas prices which directed me to www.arizonagasprices.com which is a pretty good name for a website about Arizona gas prices. While I am driving I have a pad to note different gas stations and what their specials are. I think that gas prices are rising at this time and that must mean that the economy is getting better and more people are shopping. The fuel efficiency of our cars is pretty good and can be improved by regular tune-ups and following the speed limit. I try to go under the speed limit by 5 miles and this seems to help improve the gas mileage on my cars and SUV. I am a realtor in the greater Tucson, Cochise County area and locating Benson horse property is important to me.

I'd just like to Thank my 7th grade English teacher Mr. Little for his encouraging comment (whispered bluntly in my ear in the middle of a classroom stroll to meet me at my desk personally) "Mr. Hurbon, if you ask one more question in my class I am going to rip your head off !!!). True story. Of course I turned red and was silenced for a few classes but that did not stifle my quest for satisfying my curiosity about writing in the English language. I went on later to win the Eric Jensen Award for Creative Writing as well as "The Nicest Eyes". This is why I am so successful blogging today. I'd also like to Thank the members of my band who turned me on to amazing lyric writers such as Elvis Costello, The Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan, Willie Porter, Pete Seeger, Shel Silverstein, Woody Guthrie, Billy Joel, Bernie Taupin, and more recently Chris Tomlin, David Crowder, Steven Curtis Chapman and numerous more. Blogging is more than some words, it's social networking in action. It's a ripple in the water and the pursuit of what is down the rabbitt hole. If you are not familar with the term "ice breakers" it's ok, it's a fancy name for "Building rapport". Stories can allow a client to get familar with an area. I don't mean breaking into a 30 minute seminar on the history of mining in Cochise County, keep it short and simple and interesting. Try to base your story on positive aspects that apply to growing community, economical growth, points of interest that bring out the best in the city. Using symbols and special codes is necessary to communicate in some areas of highly specialized intelligent circles. The more clearly we can communicate, the more effective the message we convey. My wife and I had some communication issues shortly after bringing our second child into the world. We sought the advice of a marriage counselor. She asked us to tell a story, then she said that I was a PAINTER and my wife was a POINTER. What's a PAINTER ? It's a person who must go into great detail to paint all aspects of a circumstance or issue and it takes the listener a longer time to get the point. (Usually the listener starts to wander and wonder when the point will be made, sometimes wonder - what is the point to this epic story). Now my wife can get to the point in about 6 seconds flat... "Bring home milk... Dog needs bath ... Come eat now ... Clean the garage ... Make your point ... Lord Help Us " Anyway, my wife and I got alot out of the marriage counseling and are still married after 23 years now. We understand eachother's processing styles better than ever. Are you a painter or a pointer ? Does it matter to your clients, friends, cellphone bills ??? I have often read about the Biblical World view concerning the oratory escapades of Jesus Christ and from what I have read...WOW...could he work a room. Captivating and challenging every audience with the dropping of tips and philosophy that listeners could take away with them back to their villages, towns, cities and nations. Where's your audience ? What's your motivation for meeting people. What do you hope to gain by engaging a stranger, a prospect or client in a conversation or debate. What have you got to lose by sharing information with people in a market that is disillusioned, at best and facing a volitile economy. Why not write down your TOP 5 Priorities today. Write down each priority on a 3 x5 note card and on the back write down why this task, issue, goal or thought is important for your to achieve, believe and recieve. Here's how my cards read this week...

1) MEET WITH GOD (Morning Bible Reading/Prayer Time/Thankfulness for blessings, find out where God may be asking me to change or become better in particular areas.)

This is important for me because I draw on the peace and wisdom gained in this time throughout the day.

2) LOVE MY FAMILY (Cook, Coffee, Encourage, Hug, Kiss, Joke, Cry sometimes, in gratitude, Respect Time together)

This is important to me because it strengthens my relationship with my Wife, it is my way of accomplishing being part of My Family and it fills my heart with Joy to hear my wife and kids laugh and to BE LOVED BY MY FAMILY.

3) WORK (My follow-ups, Networking, My leads / My Seeds, Feed the Lambs, Make connections between business partners from various fields, Set and hit goals, Find out who knows what I need to know about specific business situations, Sell houses, Follow -up more and more until I hit my goals, Generate Income)

This is important to me because I have worked since I was 14 years old and I LOVE TO WORK.

4) REWARD GREAT EFFORTS - Send Thank You notes and make Uplifting contact calls when possible to let people know I care. Being a part of someones "Happy Day" can uplift and inspire in so many ways. I guess it's called random acts of kindness.

This is important to me because I am part of a bigger picture, a huge and massive group of awesome people. I didn't arrive here on earth by accident and I intend to make a difference.

5) MAKE SMILES HAPPEN - Work or play... Make Smiles Happen. Yes, smiling is important and keeps me motivated , energetic and inspired.

The human race has killed 100 million plus people so far in its history. Although concepts of love, peace, happiness, and serenity have been introduced many times along the way, the majority of achievements have been on the battlefield. After creating beautiful works of marble and clay, after planting flowers and trees, and even after writing musical works that put the listener in a state of bliss, acts of hate and killing far outweigh in number the acts of creativity and inspiration. The instinct for survival has caused man to strive for total dominance. Jesus was killed. Martin Luther King was killed. John Lennon was killed. Marvin Gaye was killed. Ghandi was killed. And all acts of violence were performed by human beings. Why? Why is it so hard for us to love eachother. With the presidential race so close at hand we need to love eachother as a world. Let's change for our children and our children's children. In real estate, worldwide, we are people living, being together, let us love eachother. As I stood in line at Starbucks listening to orders I heard “Chai Crème Frappuccino Venti” and hesitated a moment to process just what the heck that was. I mean my “coffee of the day” would be ordered “black with no room” and paled in significance by any standard to the Chai order. My name would not be inscribed on the cup and I had to assure myself no one would chuckle when I placed my order for my meaningless drink. (At this point in the story, take a huge deep breath and hold it for 5 seconds). Starbucks marketing has customers who drive a Nissan Sentra walk into their store coming out with the feeling that soon they will be driving a BMW sport coupe. I have been know to keep my Starbucks cup and fill it up with office coffee just to do my part in advertising Starbucks and my passion for “free trade” coffee supporters. (At this point readers, take a second deep breath and hold it for 10 seconds, relax and read the title of this article again … very slowly). Breathing in what Starbucks has created is like dropping a sponge in the ocean and expecting it to unveil dry land.
