All drugs containing PHENYLPROPANOLAMINE are being recalled.
STOP TAKING anything containing this ingredient. It has been
linked to increased hemorrhagic stroke (bleeding in brain )
among women ages 18-49 in the three days after starting use
of medication. Problems were not found in men, but the FDA
recommended that everyone ( even children ) seek alternative
medicine.

I'm talking about tithing your time.

We know we are supposed to give the first 10% of our income, but how about the first 10% of our day?

We should be giving the first of everything, not just money, to God.

My question to you is this, "How do you spend the first of your day with , God?"

I want to take this time to say, that we are truly supposed to give above and beyond. It's not about the 10% , it's about the first of everything. So, just as you would give the first of your fruits, in that also, give the first of your day. And by no means, stop at the first, but rather give your all!

Today, I finally did it! I went to the salon and had my hair cut!

You're probably thinking," Who cares!", but that's exactly why I did. It was because I cared enough, and yes it was quite a sacrifice on my part, but it was done out of unselfishness.

(What in the world is this girl rambling on about!) PLEASE KEEP READING i PROMISE THERE IS A POINT TO THIS.

And actually, this was taken a while back ago , last year , so my hair was way longer than this, when I had it cut today.

I had this done so I could donate my hair to LOCKS OF LOVE.

For those of you that have no idea what LOCKS OF LOVE is, I'll explain.

They are a charity who take people's donated hair ( has to be at least 10 in long or longer to be donated) and they make wigs out of it.

These wigs are given to children who don't have hair due to amny reasons, such as, chemotherapy, alopecia, or may have had their scalp burned. These wigs boost the self esteem of these dear little children and I was more than happy to help!

Here is my after photo ( sorry so blurry had to take it with my phone, because my digital was dead)

I had 14.5 in. cut off to be donated.

Things aren't always what they seem to be (something to think about)

Two traveling angels stopped to spend the night
in the home of a wealthy family.

The family was rude and refused to let the angels
stay in the mansion's guest room.

Instead the angels were given a small space in
the cold basement.

As they made their bed on the hard floor, the
older angel saw a hole in the wall and repaired it.

When the younger angel asked why, the older angel
replied,

"Things aren't always what they seem."

The next night the pair came to rest at the house
of a very poor, but very hospitable farmer and his
wife.

After sharing what little food they had the couple
let the angels sleep in their bed where they could
have a good night's rest.

When the sun came up the next morning the angels
found the farmer and his wife in tears

Their only cow, whose milk had been their sole
income, lay dead in the field.

The younger angel was infuriated and asked the
older angel how could you have let this happen?

The first man had everything, yet you helped him,
she accused.

The second family had little but was willing to
share everything, and you let the cow die.

"Things aren't always what they seem," the older
angel replied.

"When we stayed in the basement of the mansion, I
noticed there was gold stored in that hole in the
wall.

Since the owner was so obsessed with greed and
unwilling to share his good fortune, I sealed the
wall so he wouldn't find it."

"Then last night as we slept in the farmers bed,
the angel of death came for his wife. I gave him
the cow instead.

Things aren't always what they seem."

Sometimes that is exactly what happens when things
don't turn out the way they should. If you have
faith, you just need to trust that every outcome
is always to your advantage. You just might not
know it until some time later..

Civil War

In 1861, Chesterfield County was assured a prominent role in the Civil War. Its geographic proximity to Richmond, the capital of the Confederacy, combined with various railroads and the James and Appomattox rivers, made it an obvious target for the Union army and navy. In the spring of 1862, a Union naval fleet, led by the famous ironclad Monitor, steamed up the James River. All that stood in their way was the unfinished fort at Drewry¹s Bluff, just eight miles below Richmond. On May 15, Confederate guns in the fort fired on the Union ships. When the smoke cleared, the heavily damaged Union fleet was forced to retreat. Casualties were slight on both sides, and Chesterfield County would have a two-year reprieve before seeing action, again. Ulysses S. Grant took command of the Union army early in 1864, and in May, he planned strikes toward Richmond from several directions. The main Union army would approach from the north, while a smaller force, the Army of the James, would attack from the south by moving through Chesterfield County. On May 5, 1864, the Union army landed at Bermuda Hundred in eastern Chesterfield County and pushed inland. A series of battles took place at Port Walthall Junction, Swift Creek and Chester Station as Confederate troops desperately tried to block the approaches to Richmond. The climax of this campaign occurred on May 16, when the Confederates unexpectedly launched an attack that staggered the Union army and forced it to retreat back to Bermuda Hundred. This became known as the Second Battle of Drewry¹s Bluff. Combined casualties numbered about 6,200 during this campaign. In April 1865, the Petersburg front collapsed, forcing Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee to move his army westward toward Appomattox Court House, where he surrendered.

THE HISTORY BEHIND THE CHESTERFIELD COUNTY VIRGINIA COUNTY SEAL

Chesterfield County's Seal

Although English colonists began moving into the area within four years of Jamestown's founding in 1607, Chesterfield was not created as a political unit until 1749. Formed from the southern half of Henrico County, one of Virginia's several original shires, the new county took the name of the celebrated literateur and politician Philip Dormer Stanhope, Fourth Earl of Chesterfield.

In 1870, the first action of the first Chesterfield County Board of Supervisors was to direct a seal to be created, "to wit: a coal miner leaning on his pick under a pine tree with a flowing river at his feet." This was chosen as the County's Seal because it was the first place in the nation where coal was mined commercially.

As a result of the industrious labors of miners, other "firsts" occurred in Chesterfield: Midlothian Turnpike, the first paved road in Virginia, was built in 1807 to carry carts of coal; and in 1831, the first railroad, the Midlothian to Manchester Railroad, was built to haul coal to Virginia's ports.

Chesterfield straddles two major topographic regions. Most of the county lies in the Piedmont, a region of gently rolling hills stretching between the Appalachian Mountains and the Atlantic coastal plain. The pine tree on the seal represents the timber associated with the rolling hills of the area.

Although Chesterfield is laced by streams, most are too narrow or shallow to use as waterways. The James and Appomattox Rivers, though, served as major commercial corridors from the first period of European settlement. Thus, the river depicted on the seal.

Virginia's new major civil penalties CHESTER, VIRGINIA / RICHMOND , VA

To all of you lead feet out there effective July 1 in our wonderful Commonwealth of Virginia, any traffic ticket, with the exception of regular speeding, will carry heavy civil penalties (yes, this is a new charge) in addition to the fine and court costs that you will

Water Country Usa Williamsburg , Va.

Last weekend we had a ball. We took the kids to Water Country in Williamsburg. They have so much to do there. Loads of water slides and 3-4 different kinds of kiddie pool areas. The food is actually really good, too!

We just packed our own lunch and drinks in a cooler though.

But , all in all , the kids and us had an absolute blast! Next time you are in the Williamsburg, Va area I highly recommend going!

The Pros and Cons of Condos

Condominiums and townhouses offer an affordable option to single-family homes in most areas. But consider these facts before you buy.
Storage. Some condos have storage lockers, but usually there are no attics or basements to store belongings.
Outdoor space. Yards and outdoor areas are usually smaller in condos, so if you like to garden or entertain outdoors, this may not be a good fit. However, if you hate yard work, this may be the perfect option for you.
Amenities. Many condo properties have swimming pools, fitness centers, and other facilities that would be very expensive in a single-family home.
Maintenance. Many condos have onsite maintenance personnel to care for common areas, do repairs in your unit, and let in workers when you're not home.
Security. Many condos have keyed entries and or even door attendants. Plus, you'll be closer to other people in case of an emergency.
Reserve funds and association fees. Although fees generally help pay for amenities and provide savings for future repairs, you will have to pay the fees agreed to by the condo board, whether or not you're interested in the amenity or not.
Resale. The ease of selling your unit is more dependent on what else is for sale in your building, since units are usually fairly similar. Single-family homes usually are more individual.
Freedom. Although you have a vote, the rules of the condo association can affect your ability to use your property. For example, some condos prohibit home-based businesses. Others prohibit pets. Read the covenants, restrictions, and bylaws of the condo carefully before you make an offer.
Proximity. You're much closer to your neighbors in a condo or townhome. If possible, try to meet your closest prospective neighbors before making a decision.

Tips on Buying in a Tight Market

Increase your chances of getting your dream house instead of losing it to another buyer, with these easy steps.

Get prequalified for a mortgage. You'll be able to make a firm commitment to buy and make your offer more desirable to the seller.
Stay in close touch with your real estate sales associate to find out first about new listings that come on the market. And be ready to go see a house as soon as it goes on the market.
Scout out new listings yourself. Look at Internet sites, newspaper ads, and drive by the neighborhood frequently. Maybe you'll see a brand-new "for sale" sign before anyone else.
Be ready to make a decision. Spend lots of time in advance deciding what you must have so you won't be unsure when you have the chance to make an offer.
Bid competitively. You may not want to start out offering the absolute highest price you can afford, but don't try to go too low to get a deal. In a tight market, you'll lose out.
Keep contingencies to a minimum. Restrictions such as needing to sell your home before you move or wanting to delay the closing until a certain date can make your offer unappealing. In a tight market, you'll probably be able to sell your house rapidly. Or talk to your lender about getting a bridge loan to cover both mortgages for a short period.
Don't get caught in a buying frenzy. Just because there's competition doesn't mean you should just buy anything. And even though you want to make your offer attractive, don't neglect inspections that help ensure that your house is sound.

Moving Tips for Sellers

•1. Give your forwarding address to the post office, usually two to four weeks ahead of the move.

•2. Notify your credit card companies, magazine subscriptions, and bank of the change of address.

•3. Develop a list of friends, relatives, and business colleagues who need to be notified of the move.

•4. Arrange to have utilities disconnected at your old home and connected at your new one.

•5. Cancel the newspaper.

•6. Check insurance coverage for moved items. Usually movers only cover what they pack.

•7. Clean out appliances and prepare them for moving, if applicable.

•8. Note the weight of the goods you'll have moved, since long-distance moves are usually billed according to weight. Watch for movers that use excessive padding to add weight.

•9. Check with your condo or co-op about restrictions on using the elevator or particular exits.

•10. Have a "first open" box with the things you'll need most-toilet paper, soap, trash bags, scissors, hammer, screwdriver, pencils and paper, cups and plates, water, snacks, and toothpaste.

Plus, if you're moving out of town:

•1. Get copies of medical and dental records and prescriptions for your family and your pets.

•2. Get copies of children's school records for transfer.

•3. Ask friends for introductions to anyone they know in your new neighborhood.

•4. Consider special car needs for pets when traveling.

•5. Let a friend or relative know your route.

•6. Carry traveler's checks or an ATM card for ready cash until you can open a bank account.

•7. Empty your safety deposit box.

•8. Put plants in boxes with holes for air circulation if you're moving in cold weather.

6 Items to Have on Hand for the New Owners

•1. Owner's manuals for items left in the house.

•2. Warranties for any items left in the house.

•3. A list of local service providers-the best dry cleaner, yard service, etc.

•4. Garage door opener.

•5. Extra sets of house keys.

•6. Code to burglar alarm and phone number of monitoring service if not discontinued.

Common Closing Costs for Buyers

The lender must disclose a good faith estimate of all settlement costs. A check to cover your closing costs will probably have to be a cashier's check. The title company or other entity conducting the closing will tell you the required amount for:

Downpayment
Loan origination fees
Points, or loan discount fees, you pay to receive a lower interest rate
Appraisal fee
Credit report
Private mortgage insurance premium
Insurance escrow for homeowners insurance, if being paid as part of the mortgage
Property tax escrow, if being paid as part of the mortgage. Lenders keep funds for taxes and insurance in escrow accounts as they are paid with the mortgage, then pay the insurance or taxes for you.
Deed recording fees
Title insurance policy premiums
Survey
Inspection fees-building inspection, termites, etc.
Notary fees
Prorations for your share of costs, such as utility bills and property taxes

A Note About Prorations: Because such costs are usually paid on either a monthly or yearly basis, you might have to pay a bill for services used by the sellers before they moved. Proration is a way for the sellers to pay you back or for you to pay them for bills they may have paid in advance. For example, the gas company usually sends a bill each month for the gas used during the previous month. But assume you buy the home on the 6^th of the month. You would owe the gas company for only the days from the 6^th to the end for the month. The seller would owe for the first five days. The bill would be prorated for the number of days in the month, and then each person would be responsible for the days of his or her ownership.

What Not to Overlook on a Final Walk-through

Be sure that:

Repairs you've requested have been made. Obtain copies of paid bills and any related warranties.
All items that were included in the sale price-draperies, lighting fixtures-are still there.
Screens and storm windows are in place or stored.
All appliances are operating.
Intercom, doorbell, and alarm are operational.
Hot water heater is working.
HVAC is working.
No plants or shrubs have been removed from the yard.
Garage door opener and other remotes are available.
Instruction books and warranties on appliances and fixtures are there.
All personal items of the sellers and all debris have been removed.

And just by a bad experience of my own, if a repair was to be made by the seller, in a place not easily seen, PLEASE, it might be a good idea to have the inspector come back for a second look at the said repair. It might mean a little more money out of your pocket now, but much better than it being a lot of money later.

Tips for Holding a Yard Sale

Hold a yard sale to reduce the clutter in your home and get rid of items you don't want to move.

•1. Check with your city government to see if you need a permit or license.

•2. See if neighbors want to participate and have a "block" sale to attract more visitors.

•3. Advertise. Put an ad in free classified papers, and put up signs and balloons at major intersections and in stores near your home.

•4. Price items ahead and attach prices with removable stickers. Remember, yard sales are supposed to be bargains, so don't try to sell anything of significant value this way.

•5. Check items before the sale to be sure you haven't including something you want by mistake.

•6. Keep pets away from the sale.

•7. Display everything neatly and individually so customers don't have to dig through boxes.

•8. Have an electrical outlet so buyers can test appliances.

•9. Have plenty of bags and newspaper for wrapping fragile items.

•10. Get enough change, and keep a close eye on your cash.

FSBOs: Open House Tips

Advertise your open house. Ideally you should advertise both the weekend before and the weekend of the open house. Check with the local paper to see when their ad closing deadlines are.

Create a property summary sheet. This sheet gives prospective buyers an overview of your home. Include dimensions for each room, copies of a property survey, summaries of utility costs and property taxes, and a list of when capital items, such as roofs and furnace, were added.

Develop a sign-in form for prospects' addresses. You'll ideally want both phone numbers and e-mail addresses to follow up with prospective buyers.

Put up signs. One or two days before the open house, place directional signs at major intersections within three to four blocks of your house. Be sure you check on anti-sign regulations in your area.

Get your house ready. Remove clutter, clean your house, wash your windows, add flowers, turn on lights, open draperies and blinds, remove valuables and breakables, confine pets, turn on soft music, and set up a table for your property fact sheet near the entrance.

Develop a follow-up sheet. Getting feedback on your home from prospects who attended your open house will give you a better understanding of how to make your home more appealing to buyers.
