It was at the &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.bestchamber.com/&quot; target=&quot;_blank&quot;&gt;South Metro Denver Chamber of Commerce&lt;/a&gt;, hosted by Mr John Brackney, President and CEO of the South Metro Denver Chamber of Commerce.&amp;nbsp; Our guest speaker was Mr. Rick Williams, President and CEO of the &lt;a href=&quot;http://collegefund.org/&quot; target=&quot;_blank&quot;&gt;American Indian College Fund&lt;/a&gt;.&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;His presentation centered around the &quot;Five Components of Leadership&quot; in the American Indian culture. &amp;nbsp;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If you are currently a leader or want to be a leader in your community, I think&amp;nbsp;you will find, as I did , these&amp;nbsp;&quot;Five Components of Leadership&quot; that are so&amp;nbsp;honored in the American Indian culture are a guiding light to&amp;nbsp;success. This is what I took away from his presentation.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Respect.&lt;/strong&gt; &amp;nbsp;This is&amp;nbsp;at the center for all great leaders. &amp;nbsp;Respect for all individuals, including&amp;nbsp;family, friends, bosses, co-workers, teammates, your Doctor&amp;nbsp;and&amp;nbsp;grocery store clerk. Everyone means everyone! &amp;nbsp;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Relationships.&lt;/strong&gt; &amp;nbsp;Your daily goal should be building and maintaining long lasting productive relationships.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Responsibility.&lt;/strong&gt; &amp;nbsp;As a leader you have a responsibility to each of your relationships - a responsibility that includes being&amp;nbsp; respectful, nurturing, caring, and understanding. &amp;nbsp;You are responsible for the growth,&amp;nbsp;advancement and&amp;nbsp;betterment of each relationship.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Reasoning.&lt;/strong&gt; &amp;nbsp;You must be able to demonstrate intellect, have&amp;nbsp;a great mind and&amp;nbsp;thick skin. &amp;nbsp;I loved his point about &amp;nbsp;having &quot;thick skin&quot;. &amp;nbsp;As a leader you will be attacked and under attack you should remain strong, steadfast and always&amp;nbsp;respectful. &amp;nbsp;Mr. Williams uses &quot;seven&quot; as a guide as to how many times you can be attacked by the same person before stepping out of the zone.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Reciprocity.&lt;/strong&gt; &amp;nbsp; All great leaders are givers, you must be able to give away and give back.&lt;/li&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Here's hoping that&amp;nbsp;you aren't down with a case&amp;nbsp;of the &quot;post holiday blues&quot;.&lt;/strong&gt;&amp;nbsp; I have been there&amp;nbsp;myself and I've&amp;nbsp;decided it's just not worth it&amp;nbsp;- nothing good comes from it, not more time nor better memories.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; For most of us, we really look forward to the holidays. &amp;nbsp;They're exciting and fun, and more than any other time of the year, we are surrounded by&amp;nbsp;family and friends. &amp;nbsp;There are parties galore,&amp;nbsp;yummy food, twinkle lights, family traditions and holiday cheer&amp;nbsp;of&amp;nbsp;all&amp;nbsp;kinds.&amp;nbsp; Children are as excited as they can be, warming the&amp;nbsp;hearts of&amp;nbsp;older generations.&amp;nbsp; There is a feeling of love and coming together and it's an opportunity to be grateful for all the blessings you have in your life. &amp;nbsp;There is just SO much going on in the last two months of the year that when January arrives,&amp;nbsp;the rubber hits the road. &amp;nbsp;Needless to say, it feels like the air has been let out of our over-inflated&amp;nbsp;balloons. &amp;nbsp;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Did I write&amp;nbsp;my New Years Resolutions? &amp;nbsp;No.&lt;/strong&gt;&amp;nbsp;I never&amp;nbsp;seem to follow through. &amp;nbsp;But, I did have some quiet time and had a little talk with myself. &amp;nbsp;We talked about what I wanted my year to look like, what I would like to do, who and what is&amp;nbsp;important to me, and how I can be a better person and leave a positive footprint in&amp;nbsp;this crazy-world we live in. &amp;nbsp;It was a great little chit-chat and I recommend you start off the year doing the same. &amp;nbsp; Nothing strict or formal, no extra pressure, just a chat with an old friend. &amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;So,don't be sad... cherish those good times, pull up your pants, dust off your shoes and smile at the new day, a New Year!&lt;/strong&gt; &amp;nbsp;I've been so looking forward to 2009,&amp;nbsp;it couldn't get here fast enough! &amp;nbsp;So, no &quot;post holiday blues&quot; from me. &amp;nbsp;I am hopeful and optimistic that this year will be a better year for everyone! &amp;nbsp;The sun will shine a little brighter and our burdens will be a little less.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div class='agent_signature'&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;img src=&quot;http://activerain.com/image_store/uploads/8/2/9/4/6/ar125062595864928.png&quot; alt=&quot;&quot; width=&quot;773&quot; height=&quot;205&quot; /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</description>

Maybe you like to have a family outing and travel to the mountains to cut down a fresh tree. &amp;nbsp;They always look so perfect in their natural setting. Or maybe your tradition is to travel from lot to lot in search of the &quot;perfect tree&quot;.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Here are some quick tips to finding your fresh Christmas tree:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Where are you going to put it? Before you head out, know how big a tree you can handle. Don't forget to leave room for the tree topper. &amp;nbsp;Where will it stand in your home?&amp;nbsp; How far can it spread out in to the room? &amp;nbsp;It is a good idea to measure the area before you head out.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;How fresh is it? &amp;nbsp;If you are purchasing a tree from a lot, ask when they arrived.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Does it look healthy? &amp;nbsp;Are the branches strong and healthy, without a lot of bare spots? &amp;nbsp;Be sure to look all the way around.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Does it smell winter green fresh?&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Shake that tree! &amp;nbsp;If the needles are falling off, it's a sign the tree is already drying out.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Look for broken and damaged branches.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Don't forget to bring everything you need to transport your tree home. &amp;nbsp;Bring&amp;nbsp;rope to tie the tree down, &amp;nbsp;sheet/bankets to protect the car, a saw and pair of gloves.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Have everything ready inside your home for the arrival. &amp;nbsp;Do you have a tree stand and will it be be big enough?&lt;/li&gt;
