I found it!

One of the best kept secrets in my town, Staten Island, Eltingville, are Amway distributors. I love the products, but could not get to talk to my local distributor, so I looked in the phone book for a new distributor, no luck. I asked myself, these are great products, but I can't find anyone who sells them. Then my son came home with one of their vitamins one day, see KCOLE3.QHEALTHZONE.COM I asked him, "where did you get that"? he said from a man he met while visiting a friend. I said great, can I get some of the products from him? The answer was yes. In fact, my son liked the products so much, he became a distributor. Then my daughter joined too. And when I discovered the gift collection, KCOLE3.ORDERMYGIFT.COM I also joined so I can buy closing gifts for my clients wholesale. So, Amway is alive and well in Staten Island. How neat is it to have a wholesale supplier available at my finger tips to order things I need for the house, vitamins for my health, and gifts for my real estate clients. I can order anytime of the day or night. It comes right to my door, also. Now I don't have to wonder where do I get these products. My son Matthew can be reached at 347.782.4990, he is very knowledge with the vitamins, my daughter who lives in Brick, N.J. and can be reached at 732.691.1587, her name is Christina, she can be reached at cwcnabile@Yahoo.com If you live on Staten Island and want to talk with me, I live in Eltingville, my cell number is 917.696.0275. So, Amway Staten Island is alive and well. Even household cleaners, . BTW, if you're looking to make extra income, you can do that to. Give us a call. 917.696.0275

I Wonder

What if this could work, just received this e-mail

Dear Mr. President,

Please find below my suggestion for fixing America's economy. Instead of giving billions of dollars to companies that will squander the money on lavish parties and unearned bonuses, use the following plan. You can call it the "Patriotic Retirement Plan":

There are about 40 million people over 50 in the work force. Pay them $1 million apiece severance for early retirement with the following stipulations:

1) They MUST retire. Forty million job openings - Unemployment fixed.

2) They MUST buy a new American CAR. Forty million cars ordered - Auto Industry fixed.

3) They MUST either buy a house or pay off their mortgage - Housing Crisis fixed.

It can't get any easier than that!!

P.S. If more money is needed, have all members in Congress pay their taxes...

Mr. President, while you're at it, make Congress retire on Social Security and Medicare. I'll bet both programs would be fixed pronto!

If you think this would work, please forward to everyone you know.

      If not, please disregard.

There may be a light out there somewhere.....

Last week I posted a blog about the pay increase congress is getting. Bad information. I stand corrected. See below the response I received from my Congressman, Mr. Michael McMahon of Staten Island. I think we may have someone worth keeping.

Dear Mr. Cole,

Thank you for writing to me to express your views about government spending.

We need to return to a path of fiscal responsibility and reduce the size of the federal deficit. While the government needs to act and help jumpstart our economy now, we must get control over our spending in the coming years. I look forward to working with my colleagues in Congress to find bipartisan, commonsense solutions to getting the nation's fiscal House in order.

That is why I am an original cosponsor of H.R. 2920, the Statutory Pay-As-You-Go Act of 2009 (PAYGO). H.R. 2920 was introduced in the House by Rep. Steny H. Hoyer (D-MD) on June 17, 2009 and was passed by the House on July 22, 2007 by a vote of 265-166. I am proud to have voted for this bill. The purpose of this bill is to force Washington to live within its means by requiring any new spending or new tax cuts to be fully paid for by cutting spending in other areas of the budget. These mandatory PAYGO rules helped bring our budget into balance in the late 1990s, but were allowed to expire in 2002.

I have two children and we cannot in good conscience pile more and more debt on them and mortgage the future of the next generation. The good hardworking people of Staten Island and Brooklyn, New York balance their checkbooks at the end of each month - and they expect nothing less from their leaders in Washington.

In February 2009, we in Congress eliminated our annual pay raise this year. With so many families struggling to make ends meet, it would not be appropriate for Members of Congress to accept a raise. I applaud this move and will continue to work with my colleagues to cut wasteful spending.

Again, thank you for taking the time to contact me regarding this important issue. Please feel free to get in touch with my office in the future if I can be of any assistance to you on this or any other matter of concern. I hope you will find my website - www.mcmahon.house.gov - a useful resource for keeping up with events in Washington and the 13th District of New York.

Sincerely,

Michael E. McMahon
Representative for the 13th District of New York

USS New York, (LPD-21), Welcome to New York

Thank you to all our Veterans, past and present. This post is about my visit to the USS New York. As I walked from Broadway,

with my USS Ticonderoga hat on

people that were in the service with hats like mine, but with different ships, looked at my hat first, as I also did to them, then our eyes met and a nod or smile was exchanged. This happened all along the way to the ship. The crowd was very friendly and we all talked as we waited to get in. Not a bad wait, about 15 minutes. The Sailors were very friendly, guarding the route and answering questions form us. I had to take a picture of the bow, made from the World Trade Towers steel.

This is one big ship. Does not look like that from the TV or newspaper photos. The line moved quickly

Up the gangway

next meeting the crew, four of our Best

then on to the business end of the ship

this drives the air boat that carries tanks and equipment ashore with the Marines. OW RAH!

on to the flight deck with the Osprey aircraft.

more on the fantail

A view of the USS Growler SSG 577 at the Intrepid Air Sea Space Museum.

My cap and the story of the USS New York Crest

The seven rays of sunlight signify both the crown atop the Statue of Liberty and the seven seas.

Central focus is placed on the Twin Towers and the bow of the ship, forged from the towers steel.

Breastplate of the phonix bears the colors of the first responders from the NYPD and NYFD and Port Authorty of NY & NJ.

Blood drops represent the fallen.

Three stars for those won by previous USS New York, the battleship (BB34) in WW2 at Iwo Jima, Okinawa and North Africa.

LPD stands for "Landing Platform Dock"

three new friends I made while on line

Going home, waiting for the ferry, I felt like a tourist

Cheapest ferry ride in the world, and I must say one of the best

and almost home, getting off the train at Eltingville, Staten Island

God Bless America! see below

We are all from different backgrounds, religions, cultures, traditions, yet we are all Americans. So what do you think is the single item that unites us as a nation? Surely, not our language, skin color, heritage. Is it our sense of freedom? Our right to own property, our work ethic to make our lives what we want it to be? Is it our Constitution and Bill of Rights that gives us our freedoms and separates us from most of the nations around the world? Just thinking about this. What's your take?

Question regarding FHA loans

What kind of documents are needed to show that a gift was given to a person for the purpose of buying a house with FHA funding? What kind of documents must the giver provide to the underwriters? Must the giver show their checking account for the last 30 days to show that the money was there or that a deposit was made before the check was written? Are there different rules as to the size of the gift? For instance, is there a different rule for a $5000 gift from a parent to an adult child or if the gift is $50,000 are the rules the same? How much information is needed by the FHA?

I just received this e mail, Sack Lunches

Thought I'd pass it on.

The Sack Lunches

I put my carry-on in the luggage
Compartment and sat down in my
Assigned seat. It was going to be a
Long flight. 'I'm glad I have a
Good book to read. Perhaps I will get
A short nap,' I thought.

Just before take-off, a line of
Soldiers came down the aisle and
Filled all the vacant seats, totally
Surrounding me. I decided to
Start a conversation.
'Where are you headed?' I asked the soldier seated nearest to me.

'Petawawa. We'll be there for two
Weeks for special training, and then
We're being deployed to Afghanistan .

After flying for about an hour, an
Announcement was made that sack
Lunches were available for five
Dollars. It would be several hours
Before we reached the east, and I
Quickly decided a lunch would help
Pass the time.

As I reached for my wallet, I
Overheard a soldier ask his buddy if he
Planned to buy lunch.
'No, that seems like a lot of money for just a sack lunch.
Probably wouldn't be worth five bucks. I'll wait till we get to base'.

His friend agreed.

I looked around at the other
Soldiers. None were buying lunch. I
Walked to the back of the plane and
Handed the flight attendant a
Fifty dollar bill.
'Take a lunch to all those soldiers.' She grabbed my arms and squeezed tightly. Her eyes wet with tears, she thanked me. 'My son was a soldier in Iraq ; it's almost like you are doing it for him.'

Picking up ten sacks, she headed up
The aisle to where the soldiers
Were seated. She stopped at my seat
And asked, 'Which do you like
Best - beef or chicken?'

'Chicken,' I replied, wondering why
She asked. She turned and went to
The front of plane, returning a
Minute later with a dinner plate from
First class. 'This is your thanks.'

After we finished eating, I went
Again to the back of the plane,
Heading for the rest room.
A man stopped me. 'I saw what you did. I want to be part of it.
Here, take this.' He handed me twenty-five dollars.

Soon after I returned to my seat, I
Saw the Flight Captain coming down
The aisle, looking at the aisle
Numbers as he walked. I hoped he was
Not looking for me, but noticed he
Was looking at the numbers only on
My side of the plane.
When he got to my row he stopped, smiled, held out his hand, and said, 'I want to shake your hand.'

Quickly unfastening my seatbelt I
Stood and took the Captain's hand.
With a booming voice he said, 'I was
A soldier, and I was a military pilot.
Once, someone bought me a lunch.
It was an act of kindness I
Never forgot.' I was embarrassed
When applause was heard from all of
The passengers.

Later I walked to the front of the
Plane so I could stretch my legs.
A man who was seated about six rows
In front of me reached out his
Hand, wanting to shake mine. He left
Another twenty-five dollars in my palm.

When we landed I gathered my
Belongings and started to deplane.
Waiting just inside the airplane door
Was a man who stopped me, put
Something in my shirt pocket, turned,
And walked away without saying a
Word. Another twenty-five dollars!

Upon entering the terminal, I saw the
Soldiers gathering for their trip to the base. I walked over to them
And handed them seventy-five dollars. 'It will take you some time to
Reach the base. It will be about time for a sandwich.
God Bless You.'

Ten young men left that flight
Feeling the love and respect of their
Fellow travelers. As I walked
Briskly to my car, I whispered a prayer for their safe return.
These soldiers were giving their all for our country. I could only give them a couple of meals.

It seemed so little....

A veteran is someone who, at one
Point in his life, wrote a blank check
Made payable to 'The United States of
America 'for an amount of 'up to and including My life.'

That is Honor, and there are way too
many people in this country who
no longer understand it.'
