Santa Monica Luxury Home Sales, 1st Quarter

Here you have the results for the first quarter of 2008. This graph shows us the number of sold & current listings in Santa Monica's higher end market. As you can see, their is a lot of activity and real buyers below $5,000,000.

The highest sale was for $10,500,000 on La Mesa Drive. One of the most desirable streets in Santa Monica with some of the largest lots in the city, charm, history, views, and world class architecture.

The majority of these homes are North of Montana. One currently listed is a penthouse loft & office space near the Promenade.

Why the heck do you need a spark arrester?

Our neighbor went on vacation for two weeks. He came home from the last part of his 3-day Vegas trip and noticed black soot on the carpet and walls. He looked at the chimney, the walls and noticed a strange colored liquid on his bed spread. Then realized a squirrel had dropped into the chimney while he was gone. It was still in his home, somewhere. The squirrel had gone #2 on his comforter & was also trying desperately to get out of the house. There were black marks on the windows and high up on the walls. He called animal control. They would not come over but, offered to give him a cage the next morning.

He went to sleep. Actually tried to go to sleep but was unable. He found the squirrel chased him throughout the house. The squirrel wedged himself inside the oven. He turned on the oven and then decided that he didn't want a burnt squirrel stench. So, in the morning picked up the cage from animal control. Put peanut butter in it and the squirrel was caught.

The squirrel was really mad once caught and was moving and screeching in the cage. He took the squirrel to a local park. When he opened up the cage to let the squirrel out it would trip the catch and re shut to cage. He had to help it get out then once out it ran around the park several times and up and down the trees.

After hiring a cleaning crew, carpet cleaners and dry cleaners the cost was $1,100.

Save yourself some money and a few nights sleep! Get a good spark arrester with a screen. Our past clients put an offer on a home without one and after hearing about this real story the Seller agreed to install one before closing.
