The Lessons We Learn From Our Children

I received an e-mail this morning asking where I have been. Let me tell you it was very nice to realize someone noticed I have not been around much lately. Yes I have been very busy lately. Yes, it is business related. I was knee deep in work again this morning when the phone rang and on the other end was my son. "Mom I just had a car accident" First of all he is FINE!!!! I of course ran out of the office to make sure. He just got home from St. Louis on Monday for a few weeks. He is entering his senior year at Washington University in St. Louis. It never ceases to amaze me how when push comes to shove I was able to find time and leave the office.

Why am I writing this.......Let's just say it was a bit of an eye opener. Why should I wait till something like this to get out?? I am always touting myself as the glass half full person. Lately I must admit I have not been very good to myself. So...... from now on I will stop eating my lunch at my desk. I will take time to smell the roses. I will remember to get out of the office. Yes it took a little car accident to make me open my eyes again. I am so very grateful nobody was hurt. Now if the car repair fairy could just wave a magic wand and fix the car!!! Although my son is an adult he was instantlyl my baby when I heard his voice on the phone. You know what, he is only home for a few weeks. I am going to make sure I spend as much time with him as possible. For those of you with young children, believe me they grow fast. Enjoy the summer vacation time!!

I am grateful it is Friday and I have the entire week-end to start planning how we can spend as much time together as possible. Opps I wonder if he thinks this is such a great idea....hahahahahah

Happy Friday!!

Counselors called in for traumatized students and teachers.

Scenario 2:
Johnny and Mark get into a fist fight after school.
1957 - Crowd gathers. Mark wins. Johnny and Mark shake hands and end up buddies.
2007 - Police called and SWAT team arrives -- they arrest both Johnny and Mark. They are both charged with assault and both expelled even though Johnny started it and Mark was just defending himself.

Scenario 3:
Jeffrey will not be still in class, he disrupts other students.
1957 - Jeffrey sent to the Principal's office and given a good paddling by the Principal. He then returns to class, sits still and does not disrupt class again.
2007 - Jeffrey is given huge doses of Ritalin. He becomes a zombie. He is then tested for ADD. The school gets extra money from the state because Jeffrey has a disability.

Scenario 4:
Billy breaks a window in his neighbor's car and his Dad gives him a whipping with his belt.
1957 - Billy is more careful next time, grows up normal, goes to college and becomes a successful businessman.
2007 - Billy's dad is arrested for child abuse. Billy is removed to foster care and joins a gang. The state psychologist is told by Billy's sister that she remembers being abused herself and their dad goes to prison. Billy's mom has an affair with the psychologist.

Scenario 5:
Mark gets a headache and takes some aspirin to school.
1957 - Mark shares his aspirin with the Principal out on the smoking dock.
2007 - The police are called and Mark is expelled from school for drug violations. His car is then searched for drugs and weapons.

Scenario 6:
Pedro fails high school English.
1957 - Pedro goes to summer school, passes English and goes to college.
2007 - Pedro's cause is taken up by state. Newspaper articles appear nationally explaining that teaching English as a requirement for graduation is racist. ACLU files class action lawsuit against the state school system and Pedro's English teacher. English is then banned from core curriculum. Pedro is given his diploma anyway but ends up mowing lawns for a living because he cannot speak English.

Scenario 7:
Johnny takes apart leftover firecrackers from the Fourth of July, puts them in a model airplane paint bottle and blows up a red ant bed.
1957 - Ants die.
2007 - ATF, Homeland Security and the FBI are all called. Johnny is charged with domestic terrorism. The FBI investigates his parents -- and all siblings are removed from their home and all computers are confiscated. Johnny's dad is placed on a terror watch li st and is never allowed to fly again.

Scenario 8:
Johnny falls while running during recess and scrapes his knee. He is found crying by his teacher, Mary. Mary hugs him to comfort him.
1957 - In a short time, Johnny feels better and goes on playing.
2007 - Mary is accused of being a sexual predator and loses her job. She faces 3 years in State Prison. Johnny undergoes 5 years of therapy.

A Tale of April Fool's at AM 1470 WWNN

A tale of April Fool's at AM 1470 WWNN didn't go over well with morning drive hosts Steve Kane and Brian Craig of the "Steve Kane Show" in south Florida. From the radio waves to the telephone lines, an April Fool's prank played by fellow host Bill Lewis of the "Credit Restoration Consultants Hour" didn't sit well with Steve and Brian. In a joke that spanned almost a week, it was only on April 2nd that fellow hosts and listeners alike learned that Bill Lewis had not left the station and his long standing show on financial issues.

Although not a holiday in its own right, April Fool's Day or All Fools Day as it is called in several countries, is celebrated on April 1st. It is a day that is marked by the commission of hoxes and other practical jokes of varying sophistication on family, friends, co-workers, enemies and neighbors. The aim of April Fool's is to embarrass the weak and gullible. In light of the April 1st date itself, certain pranks require intense planning and cooperation of others to remain credible.

As the longtime host of the "Credit Restoration Consultants Hour" on AM 1470 WWNN in south Florida, Bill Lewis has provided self-help tips and advice regarding credit repair, finances, and related topics for over five years. On occasion, Bill has hosted politicians such as Rudy Giuliani, John McCain, Charlie Crist, Alex Sink, and Bill McCollum in addition to local politicians seeking election or retention in office. Throughout the years, Bill's show has strayed from the original concept of providing financial awareness to his listeners.

In a scheme that involved station management, Bill Lewis sought to strengthen his listener base and to consolidate the topics hosted. If Bill's show was to evolve, the name had to be changed. Gone was the name "Credit Restoration Consultants Hour." Born was "The Credit Report" with Bill Lewis, a daily forum for business and financial news, politics, economic trends and cutting edge issues. In contemplation of said change, Bill Lewis announced to his listeners a week in advance that the "Credit Restoration Consultants Hour" was voluntarily coming off the air on Tuesday, March 31st and that an unknown host was replacing him. Lending credibility to the prank was a detailed on-air conversation with station manager Bob Morency on his "last day" in which Bill ridiculed Beasley Broadcasting and AM 1470 WWNN in general.

On April 1st, Bill Lewis was replaced by Liberal Barry and Nat Trayger of "Middle Ground" - a weekend show on AM 1470 WWNN that is considered polar opposite to the "Steve Kane Show." In fact, show hosts Barry Murray and Nat Trayger spend their entire existence dissecting the ramblings of Steve and Brian. What a way to pay tribute to the existing hosts of the Steve Kane Show! What a day for Steve and Brian thinking arch-rivals Liberal Barry and Nat Trayger had replaced Bill Lewis immediately following their show each and every morning. It would be a full 24 hours before the cat was out of the bag.

In an April Fool's joke that had everyone wondering why Bill was leaving the air, "The Credit Report" with Bill Lewis was born on April 2nd. Gone was the company name that no longer represented the true nature and intent of the show. Gone were the personal viewpoints that adversely impacted Bill's credit restoration business. Although disclaimers touted that the "personal viewpoints of the host, guests, and callers were not those of the station management" it may never be known how many listeners were turned off by Bill Lewis and his rude, arrogant, annoying and obnoxious viewpoints.

Have you grown tired of the "Credit Restoration Consultants Hour?" You can now tune into "The Credit Report" with Bill Lewis weekdays at 9am and 9pm on AM 1470 WWNN in south Florida. As a daily forum for business and financial news, politics, economic trends, and cutting edge issues, your opinion matters. Talk lines are open at (888) 565-1470 and for those outside the local area, you can listen live at www.WWNNRadio.com.

Bye Bye Bill

Ok so Bill is gone....or is he???? I guess that was Jacks way of acting sad. He needs to work on the tears!!And Jack is on the run again. I really enjoyed last nights show. I do not trust the VP at all. He is up to something. Once I got past the ridiculous idea that anyone could penetrate the White House, I got into it. Sorry I am bad with names so when I am talking about a character I am vague. The guy close to the Pres. who offered the daughter a job is in for a rude awakening with her snooping around. And where is Tony??? Looks like Chloe is in for some problems next week. I am sorry I write in thoughts as you have probably figured out already. See you next week. I am looking forward to reading your thoughts...

Happy Tuesday!!

Spam ? Is this worse than performing an illegal action?

The situation with all of our comments being censored today reminds me of a story my Mon told me. When she first started learning how to use a computer she was alarmed when she got an error message that said :

" You have performed an illegal action"

Having no idea what that meant she called my son, the computer guru, and told him she was being arrested. Imagine my sons shock at the thought of his grandmother being arrested. When he finally got her to calm down she explained what had happened. You can only imagine the laugh we have gotten from this one story.

I am embarrassed to say my Mother is now much more proficient on the computer that I am. She runs a E-Bay business from home. Knows how to download and print photos and keeps in touch with anyone she wants all over the world.

I know this has nothing to do with what is going on today,. I just get such a laugh out of the language used when describing our life on the computer. My wish for everyone is the freedom to comment on my blog. I love to read and make comments. I hope the AR gods have not changed that as well!!!

Happy Tuesday!
Lori

I would not want to be visiting the White House next week!!!

I enjoyed last night . The character of Bill is great this year. Glad to see Aaron back guarding the fort. As for Renee, I am getting a bit tired of her temper tantrums. I would not mind her being taken out. In fact I would not mind if Jack did it. I know this will never happen. I just hope we are not subject to a romance between the two of them!!!!!!

I for one would not want to be in the White House in the next hour or so!!! It is interesting how they are keeping the threat upon the country. I knew it was too soon for them to solve the problem. Too many weeks left. What is next for Tony and Jack after they save the Wite House????? We'll have to wait and see.

Till next week.....

Happy Tuesday!!

Wow what more can I say!!!!

I do not know where I have been. How long has this group been in place. This is my type of group. I hope I can add to the conversation. My husband and I started watching 24 in the first season because our youngest son liked it. The older one was already away at school. He was watching also.It became a family event. We would climb into bed, turn out the lights and even take the phone off the hook.

Now the youngest is away in College, the older son has gotten married, and his wife has watched all the DVDs to catch up and I am still addicted. Now the only difference is the invention of the DVR. When and if I miss it, I get to watch without commercials. We have a family rule that nobody posts anything on face-book or anywhere else unless we are sure we have all seen the show. We do not have to worry about spilling anything to each other. We are very careful.

I am enjoying this season. Not sure about the First gentleman. He bugs me! As for Jack,,he just keeps getting better and better. I love Chloe....I think she is sooooo funny to watch. My older son thinks she needs acting school. I just laugh!!

Now that Ihave found this group, I will be paying more attention to details so I can contribute.

Happy Thursday!!

I promised my self I was not going to get caught up in the Valentine's Day hype. You see Valentine's Day in also my wedding anniversary. Wow I can't believe I am married 19 years. And this is my 2nd marriage. Boy do I feel old. It is very hard to go to the store and find a simple anniversary card. Everything is Valentine's Day!!! I wish I could find a card that tells my husband just how much I love him. When I got divorced in my past life, I thought I would die. Now I realize my first husband left so I could meet the love of my life, Larry. Why am I sharing this with all of you. I really don't know. I just know that I have been looking at cards and they have been making me think. I am the luckiest women in the world. Maybe I will forget about buying a card and just forward this to Larry. My public acknowledgment of my love for him.

My wish for all my Active Rain friends is to find a love as strong as mine is for Larry. I am blessed to know he feels the same way. I always wish people as much love as we share. Live for today. With all the talk of the economy, I refuse to be depressed. If I have love, I am happy. What does it take for you to be happy? Love does not have to come from another person, It can come from within. Love, what a concept!!!

Happy Valentine's Day to one and all!!!!!!

Who wants to make more $$$$$ through networking?????

Hi friends. I have been trying to figure out a good way to locate people for a networking group I participate in. What better way than Active Rain. The group is the BNI Millionaires and is part of BNI Broward. A networking group based on the "givers gain" methodolgy. It is an exclusive group in the sense we only allow one person from each profession to join. There is no competition for business that way. We give business to each other because we develop relationships. We are in need of a few more real estate professionals. We can use an inspector, a stagger and a commercial lender. If you or someone you know of is interested in being part of a very successful networking group, please contact me. I will give you all of the information. We are in Broward County, Florida. We meet in Pembroke Pines for those of you local and thinking about visiting. For more information on BNI, visit www.BNIBroward.com

Thanks for thinking of someone who wants to make $$$$$ It really works.

Just remember it is networking, not net sitting or net eating...but net working!!

Happy Thursday!!

Why Credit Repair??

Prior to going to work for Credit Restoration Consultants I worked with a great group of people at Royal Caribbean International. Last night they had a retirement party for one of the gang. It was great to get together with the group again. Especially post Holiday's. Everyone was relaxed and just happy to be together. One of my friends who I have kept in touch with told me she needed my advise for her sister. She told me her sister was in the appraisal business and was looking to change professions. Imagine my surprise when she told me she was thinking about going into Credit Repair. I asked her what she knew about the business and she told me honestly, "nothing". While I would love to help my friend, I can't help thinking here we go again. Yes, Credit Repair may seem like the "in" business to be in today, but, it takes years of education and experience to do it correctly!!! While I may not be with my company very long, the Company is going on it's 9th year of business. No company stays in business this long unless they are doing something right. Unfortunately people like my friends sister are making this a business that is constantly in question. This is bit like going to a Chiropractor who takes a week-end course and now calls themselves an Acupuncturist. Sorry, for me I want someone with years of experience and education. I guess my point is, Please, take time to check out any Company claiming to do Credit Repair. Do your due diligence and check them out. You owe it to yourself to be an educated consumer!! I understand every company is a start up at one time or another, but, a start up in the "in" business is scary!! While I told my friend I will be happy to speak with her sister, I will be telling her exactly how I feel. Today Credit Repair...what will she try tomorrow?????

Holiday's Lessons

This is a lesson not a solicitation!!

While this time of year may be slow for many businesses, it is actually a great time to take advantage of Credit Repair.

Since the 3 Credit Reporting Agencies, Experian, Equifax and Trans Union, have people just like you and me working for them, they too like to take advantage of the Holiday's and take some time off. There are parties to go to and gifts to exchange. The quality of the work is not always up to par. While we can get away with this in many businesses, the people at the CRA"s must still abide by the Laws of Credit Reporting. That said, this is a great time to do disputes. Like I said, the people working there are only human and do not always keep up. They are also busy with the Holiday's. As I said this is a lesson in timing not a solicitation. Each and every business has cycles. This is just one in my business that most people are not aware of. If you have any questions regarding Credit Repair, Credit Reports or any Credit related issue including Identity Theft, feel free to call or e-mail me. I enjoy the education part of my job very much. As a consumer you have a right to know and understand what is on your credit report. More and more in these times our credit is being pulled for things that years ago did not matter. Who would have thought employers would be pulling credit reports before hiring anyone. It is happening more and more. Remember you have rights as a Consumer. Learn them and make sure they are not being violated.

As the Holiday's approach, take some time to reflect on the year. What do you want to do different next year. Do you know what your credit report looks like. Don't be afraid to look at it. Learn the laws that pertain to you as a consumer. Don't let yourself be fooled into thinking everything is great on your reports. Everyone and I mean everyone should check their reports two times a year. It does not matter if you think you have the best or worst credit. Scores are not everything, what is reporting is important as well. 2 out of 3 reports I pull for our clients have another social security number reporting on their reports. Is there a different one on your.

To educate yourself more go to www,annualcreditreport.com and order your tri-bureau report. Check all 3 bureaus. Do not let a friend in the business pull it for you. That is a hard it. Do it yourself so it does not impact your score!! You can get this once a year from this site free. If you have pulled one this year there are a number of other sites to go to. On these other sites, you will have to order a monitoring service, which you can cancel after you get your reports.

I hope this has given you the consumer a better light on what you need to do to protect yourself. it is you responsibility to make sure nothing is being reported incorrectly. Ignorance is no excuse!! Be an educated Consumer and learn how to protect yourself.

I am really enjoying the opportunity to blog, educate and learn here. I am looking forward to developing more friendships and relationships in 2009.

Happy Holiday's to all of my Friends and Family on Active Rain.

Happy Friday!!

Hi to all my friends at Active Rain. I have to admit I have been very busy and have not been around as much as I had been. That said, I am working on catching up on all my associates blogs. I have to say I am feeling some withdrawal symptoms...I never thought I had the bug until I ran out of time to check in. I have been doing a few guest blogs for my friend Pamela Williamson in St. Louis. Thanks!!! Pam!!

I have come to depend on Active Rain for my news, not only in the Real Estate world but in the social arena as well. You would be surprised how much you can learn from checking in regularly. I hope with the Holiday's coming up I do not run out of hours in the day to keep in touch. I read a blog today on getting organized in 2009 and the need for scheduling time properly. I am going to definitely schedule AR time!! I am happy to have had a bit of time today to catch up. In the business of Credit Repair we are getting slammed with end of the year questions and concerns. If you or your clients have any questions feel free to call or e-mail me!! I give my word that I will be back in touch from now on. I realize that nobody missed me but I missed all of you. So if I give my word, it is for me to be accountable. Thanks for letting me blab!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Each year before I break for Thanksgiving I contentiously try and make sure I have wished all the important people in my lives a very Happy Thanksgiving. This year my wishes would not be complete without taking time to wish all of my Active Rain friends a very Happy Thanksgiving. I wish each and every one of you the wish bone of life. Pretty Corny huh?? Well that's me a corney, glass half full positive person. So when you are at your Thanksgivings table this year, pray for those at your table you do not like or would rathernot be with. Remember everyone has their own "stuff" and deserves a chance.

So please eat whatever you want, enjoy the day as if this was your last Thanksgiving. Stuff yourself and promise to never do it again......

Happy Thanksgiving to you all from your friend in South Florida!!!

Complete Credit Repair only $1,499.00 by Credit Restoration Consultants

Experts are talking recession and families are wondering how to protect their financial security. With the foreclosure epidemic, unemployment at an all time high, and Congress scrambling to bail out the financial industry, many consumers are experiencing severe stress as it relates to their economic stability and general well being. Although gasoline prices have fallen into the low $2.30 range, the economy is struggling with food prices and professional services that have increased at alarming rates. As a result, many families have scaled back on their spending to include only the necessities.

In an ever worsening economy your good name and reputation within the community is becoming more important. Creditors have tightened their guidelines effectively barring millions of Americans from borrowing money. Even those with excellent credit are experiencing reduced credit limits and closed equity lines. Mortgage lenders, auto finance companies, credit card issuers and banks have all raised the bar. Borrowers with low credit scores can expect to be denied or to pay significantly higher interest rates than those with excellent credit. Long gone are the days of obtaining credit, goods, benefits, services and/or employment with a 620 credit score. In more instances than not, a consumer will be denied if they maintain a credit score lower than 720.

The terms credit repair, credit restoration and/or credit rehabilitation are somewhat synomous. Those with bad credit cannot afford to ignore the potential benefits of credit repair. In today's society, credit repair is more important than ever. Approximately 78% of credit profiles contain some sort of error or omission materially impacting credit worthiness. As such, one would be wise to at least explore retaining a reputable credit service organization in the restoration of their own good name and reputation within the community. With that said, Credit Restoration Consultants may be that credit service organization.

Credit Restoration Consultants is a credit service organization specializing in the restoration of consumer credit worthiness as well as identity theft. We assist consumers in achieving a favorable financial credit profile. Everything we do is legal utilizing laws enacted by Congress to dispute negative, erroneous, obsolete, and/or fraudulent information contained within your consumer credit profile.

Utilizing the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, the Fair Credit Billing Act, and the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act, Credit Restoration Consultants will assist a consumer in the submission of disputes electronically, verbally and in writing to the Equifax, Experian and Trans Union consumer reporting agencies in addition to creditors, collection agencies, third-party record providers and state/federal/private regulatory authorities. Keep in mind that anything Credit Restoration Consultants can do - you can do yourself. Where Credit Restoration Consultants has the edge is the fact that we possess the education, knowledge and a source proven method which yields results.

Unlike most credit service organizations that submit the same written dispute letters monthly, Credit Restoration Consultants has devised a strategy whereby disputes are submitted electronically, verbally and in writing over a six month period to the credit reporting agencies, creditors, collectors, and third-party record providers reporting negative, inaccurate, obsolete and/or erroneous information. Utilizing the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, the Fair Credit Billing Act, the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act, in addition to laws applicable to a particular state, Credit Restoration Consultants has obtained thousands of deletions and updates for its clients. Credit Restoration Consultants can help remove erroneous and/or inaccurate judgments, liens, bankruptcies, student loans, inquiries, derogatory tradelines, personal identifiers and more! While the credit restoration process can take anywhere from 30 days to six months, most clients see dramatic results in 45-60 days.

Credit repair, credit restoration and/or credit rehabilitation is as legal as pleading "not guilty" in a court of law. With that said, one must understand that as a credit service organization Credit Restoration Consultants is not a law firm and that none of its employees is an attorney licensed to practice law in the state of Florida. As such, Credit Restoration Consultants cannot provide legal advice nor represent any individual before any court or in any legal proceeding. In the event that legal representation is required, Credit Restoration Consultants may provide an appropriate attorney referral for consultation.

Still not convinced as to the benefit of utilizing Credit Restoration Consultants in the restoration of your good name and reputation within the community? You should tune into the Credit Restoration Consultants Hour with credit repair expert Bill Lewis. Bill can be heard weekday's on the 9's - both 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. eastern time - on AM 1470 WWNN in south Florida.
How to get RE agents

I loved this so much I have already taken time to re-post it. I have always wondered how the best way to ask for business is. In my industry of Credit Repair, I know I can help so many Realtors and Loan Officers but do not know the correct way to approach them. Nobody likes solicitation or cold calls. The reality is I know I can be of help in these troubling economic times. I can possibly turn a non qualified loan applicant into a qualified applicant. If only I had the introduction. I participate in a networking group weekly that runs on the "givers gain" methodology. That said I want to be a giver, not looked upon as a taker. So all this said I guess I am really echoing what Jordan has just said. If anyone has any suggestions for either of us please pass it on.

Happy Thursday!!

Lori

Via Jordan Sanders:

I'm curious to hear what RE agents have to say about loan officers soliciting them for business. I don't want to be like 95% of the LOs out there that buy a list and blast away with emails, faxes, and phone calls. I want to know the best ways to approach agents to set up a successful, fruitful business relationship. I would like to call the agents to get permission to send them information via email and faxes. I have a lot to offer and would do anything to help people with business (marketing, sitting in open houses, credit counseling, etc.). Please, any feedback you could give would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

CRA's or Credit Reporting Agencies

After reading Robert Fausts post this afternoon, I decided to comment further on the topic of Credit Reports. As I promised in my comment to his blog I want to educate you on the importance of KNOWING exactly what is on your credit report. I realize as Realtors and Mortgage Specialists you are always pulling your clients reports. When is the last time you checked your own. Oh no you say I have perfect credit. I can not tell you how many times I hear that and after pulling the reports we find out they are wrong. As an example I had a client come in and insist she had perfect credit except for a few late payments. Imagine her surprise when we found out her ex-husbands new wife was using her social security number. Yes this can happen to you. Does it happen often, no not really but why wait to find out.

As promised I am going to give you the phone numbers to call to order you own reports. You want to do this as opposed to pulling them through your business because that is looked upon as a hard hit. If you order them through the CRA's for yourself it is a soft hit. I hope you understand the difference between a soft and hard hit. A soft hit pulled by the consumer themselves does not have a negative impact on your credit score. Each time an inquiry is pulled by anyone else or through a business it is a hard hit and can negatively impact your score dramatically. As promised here are the phone numbers:

Experian:1-888-397-3742

Equifax: 1-800-685-1111

Trans Union: 1-800-916-8800

Please do yourself a favor and monitor your own credit reports. Believe me it is a lot easier to correct mistakes the sooner you discover them. If you have any questions regarding anything credit related including identity theft, please feel free to call or e-mail me. It would be my pleasure to help you help yourself and your clients. There is no reason to be afraid. Look at all 3 of your reports. Thank you again to Robert Faust for the blog idea. I am not a regular writer because I like to make sure what I write is timely and of relevance to the business. I need to get better at letting you know me and write more often. I hope this is a good start.

Happy Thursday!!

Where Did It Go??

Just when I thought I heard enough about the AR changes I realized I can not find the Q&A. Does anyone know where it went. I love answering questions and feeling like I am helping out our readers. Please help me find them or have they been taken away from us as well? Not a good way to end a week. I feel like I've lost a friend. I can only hope we do not come back Monday to any more surprises.

Happy Friday to all my AR friends. May this be the end of a long stressful week and the beginning of a better time for all!!!

Happy Monday...I Think....

As the first day of the business week comes to an end for me, I can't help wondering if it can get any scarier out there..... I don't know about the rest of you but I was under the impression the"Bailout" was going to turn things around. I just checked the Market and The Dow is currently down over 500 points. Where is the help promised us. Do you mean to tell me, we were conned again. No,I am not really naive, I am just kidding when I said I thought it would help. As usual, the American Public was conned into believing this 700 Billion plus$$ would turn the economy around. No this is not a political blog. I am just as tired of those as the next person. This is just a venting of how sick and tired I am of being conned. When is the average U.S citizen going to be helped. No not bailed out, but helped. Mr. and Mrs. Homeowner do not see the light at the end of the tunnel. Believe me I hear it all day at Credit Restoration Consultants. The sad stories of people losing jobs, losing their homes, not being able to get medical coverage and just plain not being able to afford to provide for their family. Being that it is only Monday, I am afraid to keep watching the news and the watching the Market plunging. Again I do indeed realize the changes will be slow in coming, but when will we see them start. Thanks for the ability to vent. On behalf of all my clients at CRC things stink!!!!!Somebody please tell me when we will see the light at the end of the tunnel. Please do not respond with political endorsements. I am not campaigning for anyone but the general public.....

Thanks for listening,

Credit Restoration Consultants Returns to the Weston Relay for Life

Having raised in excess of $50,000 in 2007 and 2008, Credit Restoration Consultants - a credit service organization specializing in the restoration of consumer credit worthiness and identity theft - is once again returning to the Weston Relay for Life in 2009. Having surpassed it's 2008 goal with over $35,000 in verified contributions, William and Jennifer Lewis were recently honored by the Broward unit with a "Top Online Fundraising Award" for the American Cancer Society - Florida Division.

Please join William and Jennifer Lewis - along with dozens of other dedicated participants - and become a part of the Weston Relay for Life on May 1st and 2nd, 2009 starting at 5pm at Cypress Bay High School in Weston.

Across America each and every year one event unites entire communities in the fight against cancer. That event is the American Cancer Society Relay For Life. It's a time and place where individuals come to celebrate those who have survived cancer, remember those we have lost, and fight back against a disease that touches many lives.

The Weston Relay for Life is not just an opportunity to celebrate, remember, but to fight back! Your involvement will help the American Cancer Society work toward a mission of eliminating cancer as major health issue and will support much-needed services in your community. Thanks in part to the donations from Relay For Life, the American Cancer Society is saving lives, helping those touched by cancer, and empowering people to fight this disease all over the world.

If you want to be a part of the fight against cancer, you can join the Credit Restoration Consultants team by visiting our website at http://www.TalkAboutCredit.com and clicking on the American Cancer Society link today!
Bailout, Rescue Efforts or How to Make the Rich Richer??

As I sit here on Monday morning after listening to and watching the financial news all week-end, I can't help wondering how this will affect my job at Credit Restoration Consultants. If you would have asked me a month ago what a good credit score is I would have told you a perhaps 680. If you asked me last week I might have said perhaps a 720. Today I have to believe that even with all of the talks of rescue and bailout efforts, it will be even harder to get credit. After all who is really being helped. Is Mr and Mrs. Homeowner being helped? Is Mr. or Mrs. Car Salesperson being helped? Or how about the people out of work or jut simply being paid minimum wage. While this is being billed as a rescue plan I wonder who will rescue our average client. I am left to believe the CEO's and CFO's of the big firms are the only ones benefiting. I do not mean to sound cynical, I am only saying what I believe. And is that not the point of blogging.

That said I must admit our work here should become easier. Our disputes will certainly be easier with all of the bank takeovers. If anyone is familiar with the Credit Reporting Agencies and the rules they must abide by, you will know that if the banks do not have proof of a debt the CRA's must remove it. It is our past experience at Credit Restoration Consultants that banks do not have time to prove wrong our disputes while dealing with a take-over. So in reality now is the time to get your credit repaired, While I am disgusted by the money being thrown at the big firms, I am happy to see our work getting more results through our efforts to make the CRA's follow the laws that govern them. So if you or anyone you know is in financial trouble due to bad credit now is truly the best time to get it repaired, We are here to help you and the average person not getting a big check from this bailout or whatever they are calling it today. Sorry if this sounds like a solicitation I am just fed up with people being caught between a rock and a hard place. I am all about the little people. Myself included.
Credit Restoration Consultants is a credit service organization specializing in the restoration of consumer credit worthiness and identity theft. We assist consumers in achieving a favorable financial credit profile. Everything we do is legal utilizing laws enacted by Congress to dispute negative, erroneous, obsolete, and/or fraudulent information contained within your consumer credit profile.

Unlike most credit service organizations that submit the same written dispute letters monthly, Credit Restoration Consultants has devised a strategy whereby disputes are submitted verbally, electronically and in writing over a six month period to credit reporting agencies, creditors, collectors, and third-party record providers reporting negative, inaccurate and/or erroneous information. The credit restoration process can take anywhere from 30 days to six months. Most clients see dramatic results in 45-60 days.

Utilizing the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, the Fair Credit Billing Act, and the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act, Credit Restoration Consultants will assist a consumer in the submission of disputes electronically, verbally and in writing to the Equifax, Experian and Trans Union consumer reporting agencies in addtion to creditors, collection agencies and third-party record providers. Keep in mind that anything we do, you can do yourself. Where Credit Restoration Consultants has the edge is the fact we possess the knowledge and a source proven method which yields results.

Credit restoration is as legal as pleading "not guilty" in a court of law.
Child Identity Theft

A new variation of identity theft has substantially gained in popularity over the last four years - child identity theft. Child identity theft occurs when a child's identity is used by another person for the imposter's personal gain. The perpetrator may be a family member or someone known by the family. It could also be a stranger who purposely targets children because of the lengthy time between the theft of the information and the discovery of the crime. The Federal Trade Commission says child identity theft has tripled in the past three years. The FTC reported 8500 cases in 2003, more than 14,000 in 2005, and 26,300 in 2006.

Children are often easy targets because thieves get an eight to ten year head start on them. In fact, most children who have had their identities stolen are not aware of it until they someday apply for credit, college, or employment. Parents or relatives are usually the first to notice that something is not quite right. Some of these child identity theft cases involve split families (one of the parents is the perpetrator and the crime is exposed by the other, unoffending parent). Discovery often comes:

When attempting to open a savings/checking account or college fund for the child. In this scenario, an unoffending parent discovers that there is already an account with that social security number or that a new account is denied due to prior worthless checks on file at Chex Systems;

When numerous pre-approved credit offers come in the mail bearing the name of the child;

When credit cards, checks, invoices or bank statements (not opened by a unoffending parent as a joint holder) are received bearing the name of the child;

When collection agencies call and/or send letters about accounts not opened by the child;

When a child is denied the privilege of obtaining a driver's license because another individual has a license with that social security number. The imposter may even have accumulated traffic citations in the child's name;

While going through papers during a divorce proceeding or while straightening up the house (Parental identity theft)

When a law enforcement officer knocks at your door with a warrant for the arrest of your child.

There are some cases that appear to be identity theft but are not. Receiving a pre-approved credit card offer in your child's name might upset you as a parent. However, it might only be an innocent marketing tool sent by a potential creditor because you opened a college fund for your child. A quick check of credit reports will help sort out the truth. Currently, all three credit reporting agencies have automated systems. You should contact them annually to request a credit report on your children. If you are advised that no credit report exists, your child is safe for the time being. Equifax can be contacted at (800) 685-1111; Experian can be contacted at (888) 397-3742; and Trans Union can be contacted at (800) 916-8800.

A common misconception of most individuals is that creditors and credit reporting agencies have a method of verification when it comes to the age and identity of an applicant. Since most creditors rely strictly upon the written application when rendering a credit granting decision and the age of an individual becomes "official" with a credit reporting agency upon the first application for credit, said reliance can be fatal in the area of identity theft. This is a fault within our credit reporting system that needs to be rectified if we are to reduce the incidence of child identity theft.

If your child is the victim of identity theft, you should file a police report with your local law enforcement authority immediately. Federal law mandates that the credit reporting agencies investigate and correct all identity theft issues. Nevertheless, it all starts with a police report. Without the police report, creditors and/or credit reporting agencies are not required to act upon your complaint.

How to Stop the Debt Collector with a Cease and Desist Letter

Debt collectors are highly motivated to convince debtors to pay the debt because they frequently work on a low base pay plus commission. This business model has created the reputation for bill collection agencies that we know today.

The collector might engage in threatening behavior and harassment. However, like any other business they are governed by laws that prohibit certain abusive practices.

There are three reasons for a debt collector to contact you: your creditor has not received a payment from you within the time frame discussed in the contract; you are a victim of an identity theft meaning someone used your identity to obtain credit and didn't pay it off; and finally, you might be contacted by collectors who are looking for someone other than you .

When contacted by a collector, take as much information as possible from the caller. Ask for the name of the company, address, the caller name, fax and phone number, amount owned, and the name of the creditor who passed your account to them. Also, tell them you expect to receive a notice in the mail concerning this debt. The last step is very important because you need to have proof of the debt in question in writing.

If you discovered that the debt is not yours, never pay it off simply to get rid of the collector. Also, never ignore the collector either. They will not stop contacting you, and may even file a lawsuit against you. If you are repeatedly being contacted by a collector looking for someone other than you, it may be considered a form of harassment. To stop this you need to send them a letter requesting to cease calls.

If you established that the debt is yours and you don't feel comfortable dealing with a collector via phone, tell them you want all future correspondence in writing. You need to send this request via a certified mail and request a return receipt. If you want to allow calls only between 5pm and 6pm, tell them about it in the letter. By law collection companies are required to respect your privacy and will have to cease all phone calls to your home, relatives, neighbors, and work.

Once you have their claims in writing it's easier to seek legal help, and keep records of your correspondence. Send all your responses to bill collectors via Certified Mail. This way you will have proof of receipt by the addressee.

Remember that the amount they claim you owe is negotiable. You can negotiate the total amount due, number of payments, and the payment deadline. Once you worked out the payment plan, request it in writing.

What a debt collector CANNOT do:

1.) Use deceptive practices. For example, threaten you with arrest or trick you into paying for collection calls.
2.) Use obscene language.
3.) Call you at work after you tell them that your boss does not approve these calls.
4.) Deny you the right to receive a written notice (within five days after your first phone conversation) that would tell you how much you owe and the name of the creditor that says you owe the money. If you do not receive the notice within five days, call the collection agency and ask for its address and fax number. Then, send a letter to the collector noting its failure to send you the required notice. As a minimum, make a note in your file.
5.) Refuse to give its name and the name of the collection company when asked.
6.) Put a debt on your credit report if you file a dispute. It must validate the debt by obtaining a verification of the debt or a copy of a judgment from the creditor before continuing their collection efforts. The results of the investigation must be mailed to you.

SAMPLE CEASE AND DESIST LETTER

The cease and desist letter has legal stature based upon the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act at section 805. You can read it for yourself here. The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act applies to both the agency and to attorneys who collect two or more debts per year. This law does not apply to the original creditor. However many original creditors will honor your request to not be called.

Please note that when a consumer debt collector receives a cease and desist letter they may move the account to legal status. This means that if they intend to sue you, the cease and desist letter will prompt them to bring suit immediately. So if there is an alternative way to stop being bothered by their calls, like using an answering machine, I'd suggest that you try it first. If there is no alternative then send the cease and desist letter.

Send the letter via certified mail with a return receipt request. Keep a copy of the letter for your files. The letter may take a couple of weeks to work its way through the collection agency's system before your number is taken out of their automated dialers. Even after they receive the letter they are allowed (under law) to contact you one time to notify you of their intent.

The below letter is easily personalized by utilizing a word document program. Although not the cease and desist letter currently utilized by Credit Restoration Consultants, it will serve to notify consumer debt collectors of your intent and purpose. Although protected by copyright, single user permission is granted to individuals in the self help credit restoration process.

My Address
My City State and Zip

December 30, 2001

Acme Collection Agency
12345 West Main Street
Any Town, AL 30311

Dear Sir/Madam:

This letter is forwarded to your collection agency reference account number 123456 and the dunning collection notices/calls recently received. Insofar as your agency is a debt collector pursuant to section 803 of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, you will be treated like one. Therefore, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act - and all of its relevant provisions - will be invoked.

YOU ARE HEREBY NOTIFIED that this is a disputed debt pursuant to section 809 of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. The specific content of said dispute was recently stated - verbally - to an individual at your agency who refused to provide their name upon request thereof. Pursuant to the FDCPA, you are prohibited from dunning a debtor when a specific debt is disputed.

YOU ARE FURTHER NOTIFIED that this is a disputed debt pursuant to section 623 of the Fair Credit Reporting Act. It is my belief that your agency has illegally reported this disputed debt to Equifax, Experian, and Trans Union. If this is the case, I will most certainly litigate an action against your agency insofar as it has willfully reported a disputed debt. Pursuant to the FCRA, your agency must notify the consumer reporting agencies of any disputed delinquency immediately upon notification thereof. A further cause of action may exist for failure to perform this ministerial task.

YOU ARE FURTHER NOTIFIED that I desire no further communication with your agency under section 805 of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Your agency is to CEASE and DESIST all further communication immediately. Should I receive another piece of dunning correspondence that does not comport with the provisions of the FDCPA, I will immediately initiate litigation against your agency.

Sincerely,

John Q. Public

THIS IS AN ATTEMPT TO MAKE A DEBT COLLECTOR OBEY THE LAW. ANY INFORMATION OBTAINED WILL BE USED FOR THAT PURPOSE. THIS COMMUNICATION IS FROM AN ALLEGED DEBTOR REFERENCE A DISPUTED DEBT.
